Abstract

Mathematical communication ability is one of the abilities that must have by students to support the learning process. But in fact, the mathematical ability of students in class VII MTsN 6 Kota Padang is still relatively low. One effort that is believed to be able to solve this problem is using Think Talk Write cooperative learning model. This kind of research is a quasi-experiment using a static group design. The sample was determined using the simple random sampling technique. The instruments used are quizzes and mathematical communication tests. Then, hypothesis testing using the T-test.  Data analysis shows that P-value is 0,000 which means refuse. Because of that, it can be concluded that the communication ability of students in class VII MTsN 6 Kota Padang was taught by using the Think Talk Write model better than by using conventional learning. Keywords. – Mathematical Communication Abilities, Cooperative Learning, Think Talk Write

Abstract

Learning outcomes can measure students' abilities. However, in reality there were still many mathematics learning outcomes of students who were low or under passing grade, one of which occured in class XI MIPA students of SMAN 1 Pariaman. Discovery learning is one of learning models that can improve students mathematics learning outcomes. To increase the mathematics learning outcomes of students, it is necessary to analyze the mistakes made by students. Errors of students were analyzed and grouped by type of error according to Newman. This type of research was quasi-experiment and descriptive with a Randomized Control-Group Only Design study design. Based on the data analysis of the final test results that the mathematics learning outcomes of students who used the discovery learning model are better than  conventional learning. Keywords – discovery learning, error according to Newman, mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

Mathematics clearning has goals that must be achieved, one of which is it he ability to solve  mathematical problems. The poor ability of students to solve math problems is due to the sub optimal learning process. Therefore, in order to over come this problem,learning model that can improve student's mathematicall problem-solving ability is needed,one off which his a problem-based learning model. The purpose off this research his to theoretically describe whether the problem-based learning model can improve student's mathematical problem-solving ability. This type of research is literature research,which aims too improve mathematical problem-solving capabilities through problem-based learning models. The conclusion of this research is to apply problem-based learning model that has a tendency to improve student’s mathematica lproblem-solving abilities. Abstract

Students must prioritise learning results. Eighth grade students of SMPN 25 Padang had low mathematics learning outcomes. PBL was used to address this problem. This study examines how Problem-Based Learning (PBL) affects students' mathematics learning outcomes and compares it with direct teaching. Descriptive research and pseudo-research using Non-Equivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design were used. The samples of this study were students of class VIII.4 and VIII.6 SMP Negeri 25 Padang. This study found that students who participated in PBL had better scores in mathematics compared to students who participated in direct learning.Keywords– Learning Outcomes, Problem Based Learning, Direct Learning

Abstract

The mathematical communication skill is an important aspect and should be achieved in the learning of mathematics. The Importance of mathematical communication skill for students make this capability need to be improved in the learning process of mathematics. The observation results indicate that the mathematical communication skill of the students in SMPN 1 Lubuk Alung was still low. The method that can be applied to improve the mathematical communication skill of students is by applying cooperative learning Think Talk Write model. The type of research was quasy-experimental and descriptive with the randomized control group only design. The results of this research showed that  the development of mathematical communication skill of students whose during learning process using TTW model has increased, and mathematical communication skill of students whose learning process using TTW model is better than mathematical communication skill of students whose learning with direct learning.Keywords – Mathematical Communication Skill, Cooperative Learning Model, Think Talk Write.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to describe the development of students’ mathematical communication abilities and investige whether mathematical communication abilities of students whose using cooperative learning model think talk write type (TTW) be tter than students’ mathematical communication abilities whose using conventional learning. This research was combination of descriptive and quasi- experimental research which used Static Group Design. The conclusion of this research are 1) Mathematical communication abilities of students has increased at present indicators of mathematical statements, either orally, in writing, drawings, and diagrams and draw conclusions indicators, compiling evidence, reasoning, or proof against option solutions. For mathematical manipulations indicator of students' abilities fluctuate. 2) Students’ mathematical communication abilities whose using cooperative learning think talk write type (TTW) better than students’ mathematical communication abilities whose using conventional learning. Abstract

Mathematic has a main goals for students to have problem-solving abilities. However, students’ mathematical problem-solving skills are still low due to teacher-centered learning approaches. The proposed solution is to implement Two Stay Two  Stray (TSTS) instructional model, and therefore this study is aimed to figure out the impact on mathematical problem-solving abilities by using TSTS instructional model. Quasy Experiment is the research method that employed with a design known as the Nonequivalent Posttest Only Control Group Design. All 8th-grade students at SMP Negeri 40 Padang during the 2022/2023 academic year is the population, and there were two samples. This study using an instrument which is a final test. Using the outcomes of the hypothesis test from the conclusive examination acquired a P-value was 0.000 (0,05), which indicates rejecting the null hypothesis (. It was discovered that there is an impact on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in class VIII at SMP Negeri 40 Padang by using the TSTS instructional model.Keywords– Problem-solving abilities, creative problem solving learning model, direct  instructional model

Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is one of basic ability that must be developed in learning mathematics. However, from students’ learning result, it is seen that students’ understanding of mathematical concepts in eight grade at SMP Negeri 15 Padang is still low. It is caused students who are less active in the learning process. In addition, students are still not able in resolving questions that are different from the examples. Solution to overcome the problem is cooperative learning model think talk write type. This research aims to know whether students’ understanding of mathematical concepts using cooperative learning model think talk write type is better than using conventional learning. Type of this research is quasi experiment and uses static group design. The sample of this research were class VIII.4 and VIII.5. Instrument used in this research was test in essay form. Abstract

One of the goals of mathematics learning is to understand mathematical concepts, namely competence in explaning the interrelationships between concept and using concepts and algorithm in a flexible, accurate, efficient, and precise way in problem solving in Permendikbud Number 58 of 2014. However, based on the results of observations in SMAN 2 Padang showed the understanding of mathematical concepts of class XI is still relatively low. Efforts to overcome these problems are to apply the Discovery Learning (DL) learning model to improve the understanding of mathematical concepts. The purpose of the research is to find the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students whose learning with DL models is better than the ability to understand it whose learning with the application of conventional learning models in XI MIPA SMAN 2 Padang. This tipe of research is a quasi-experimental study with static group design. The population of this study was students of XI MIPA SMAN 2 Padang with research samples were XI MIPA 5’s students as experimental classes and class XI MIPA 4’s students as control classes. While the sample technique is random sampling. The research instrument is the final tes of understanding mathematical concepts. Based on the analysis seen that on the results of the final test hypothesis with α=0.05 obtained P−value=0.018 which means reject H0. It can be conclude that there is an influence on the application of DL model to the understanding of mathematical concepts of students of class XI MIPA SMAN 2 Padang. Keywords –Discovery Learning, Mathematical understanding concept

Abstract

Mathematical concepts Understanding  is one of the basic abilities that are expected to be possessed by every student in learning mathematics. Based on observations made in class XI of SMA Negeri 1 Harau, it is known that students continue to have poor understanding of mathematical concepts. One of the ways to get past a challenge the problems above is to apply the Think Pair Share (TPS) cooperative learning model in the mathematics learning process. The study purpose was to reveal, analyze and describe whether the understanding of the mathematical concepts of students who studied using the TPS Type Model of Cooperative Learning was better than the understanding of the concepts of students who learned to use the direct learning model. This research type was a quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent posttest research design. -only control group design. Based on the analysis of the mathematical concept understanding test data, it was obtained that understanding of the concepts of students who use the TPS learning model is better than the understanding of the concepts of students who learn with the direct learning model. So it can be said that there is an influence of the TPS learning model on the understanding of students' mathematical concepts.Keywords– TPS, Understanding Mathematical Concepts.
