Abstract

This study aims to determine the characteristics of the geographical conditions and socio-economic conditions of farmers in the peatlands of Rasau Jaya Tiga Village. This research uses mixed-method research with a sequential explanatory design approach. Geographical condition data were processed using spatial pattern analysis which was tested for accuracy using area sampling techniques. Data collection on the socio-economic conditions of peatland farmers was followed by qualitative steps and procedures with three classifications of peatland farmers as participants. The results showed that the characteristics of the soil types in the village of Rasau Jaya Tiga were dominated by organosol soils, with rainfall of 2,001 "“ 2,500 mm/year, and the dominating of land cover was gardens/plantations. The accuracy test results on the land use map are 81.25%. The characteristics of the socio-economic conditions of peatland farmers are marked by adequate monthly income, decent living conditions, a good level of health where nutrition and nutrition aret, good access to health services, but poor individual health insurance, a high level of educational awareness, and understand the importance of knowledge. There are very few social relations (farmer groups) only found in rice farmers. Soil and climate conditions in the village of Rasau Jaya Tiga have a significant impact on the level of productivity of farming land. Farmers understand and can adapt to peatlands in the village of Rasau Jaya Tiga.

Abstract

The research investigates the relationship between the distance geography education students live from campus and their motivation to study. It uses a quantitative descriptive survey method, with data collected through documentation, indirect communication, and observation. The study defines short distances as travel times of 15 minutes or less, either by walking (within 1 km) or by vehicle (within 2 km), while longer travel times exceed 15 minutes. A sample of 92 respondents was selected using the Harry King Nomogram formula. The data was analyzed through normality and linearity tests, simple linear regression analysis, and hypothesis testing. Results show that students' residence distance and mode of transportation affect the time taken to travel to campus. The strongest motivational factor is the desire to succeed, rated at 84%. Hypothesis testing revealed that distance significantly influences study motivation, with an R Square value of 0.168, indicating a 16.8% contribution. Thus, the study concludes that the distance from home to campus significantly impacts students' learning motivation.

Abstract

The understanding of demographic trends, particularly in terms of population dependency ratios, is crucial for formulating responsive and sustainable policy. This research employs a descriptive quantitative method using data from the number of inhabitants based on age in Jawa Timur from 2015 to 2022, projected to 2023 to 2030. The data analysis is performed using arithmetic and geometric methods. According to the arithmetic population projection method, the relative increase in population remains constant each year. On the other hand, the geometric method, which is the second method, assumes that population growth will increase geometrically using a compound interest formula. However, both population projection methods result in decreasing dependency ratios each year. Using the arithmetic method, the increase in the working-age population remains stable. In contrast, the geometric method indicates an increase in the working-age population each year, resulting in a higher annual growth rate. For non-productive age groups, both methods are classified as low growth rates, as the results are less than 1%. This projection provides a foundation for understanding demographic trends that are essential for policy planning and development in the future.

Abstract

Technology innovation has become the key to providing and disseminating information in the current era of globalization. One such innovation is Geographic Information Systems (GIS), which enables the development, storage, management, and visualization of geographic location-related information. In the context of basic healthcare services, GIS is utilized to map the availability of midwifery services in community health centers (Puskesmas), focusing on East Pontianak District. This research employs geospatial analysis methods, utilizing statistical data and GIS techniques. The analysis reveals disparities in the distribution of midwifery services in East Pontianak District. Although some community health centers have nearly met service standards, there are still areas that require special attention in fulfilling midwifery services. The midwifery service accessibility map provides a clear visual representation of the distribution and availability of midwifery services in the area. Color-coding on the map indicates the level of service availability, with areas in light pink nearing the standard, dark red requiring special attention, and yellow zones indicating unmet needs. Recommendations to enhance midwifery workforce needs evaluation by considering workload and population ratios are expected to aid in crafting more precise and effective healthcare policies to ensure optimal healthcare delivery for the community.

Abstract

This research is entitled Community Preparedness for Flood Disasters in Meliau District, Sanggau Regency.  The phenomenon of flooding often hits a watershed area that is unable to accommodate the rainwater that falls because the amount of rainwater exceeds the capacity of the river itself. Kuala Buayan Village which is one of the villages in Meliau District is the village most frequently affected by floods almost every year. This has disrupted community activities in Kuala Buayan Village. The purpose of this study is to determine community preparedness for flood disasters. This study uses qualitative methods with descriptive analysis. The data source for this research is the results of interviews with the village government, the Sanggau Regency Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency, and the Kuala Buayan Village Community as well as direct field observations. The results show that knowledge of community preparedness for floods is still lacking. This is based on the Emergency Response Plan, Disaster Warning System, and Mobilization of Community Resources which is still very lacking, considering that Kuala Buayan Village is a Flood-Prone Area. In addition, the community's knowledge about flood disaster preparedness is quite good, but there is still some knowledge and insight that the community needs to know about flood disaster preparedness.
