Abstract

By utilizing discursive theory, social actors, and sociosemantics, this study aims to find the increase in women's working hours, reasons, and causality between working hours, types of work, and their respective recognition in social relations. The study used a qualitative descriptive method, with research data focusing on the context before and during COVID-19. Data were collected through online surveys and interviews. Data analysis was carried out based on sociosemantic analysis in Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), starting with calculating working time, reasons, and causality according to the CDA. The research findings show that women's working hours when COVID-19 has increased accumulatively. The accumulative increase relates to all types of work when COVID-19 requires women's access. Respondents admitted that everything was done as a custom for reasons of fate, obligations and traditions. It can be concluded that, there is a causality between working hours, type of work and respondents' reasons that prevalence occurs due to cognitive involvement, religion, and tradition. CDA views the context of this imbalance in this relationship as a social problem. Problem solving according to the CDA can be done through an educational process, with the assumption of solving problems for the future.

Abstract

This study investigates the possible relationship between reading anxiety and the critical reading ability of tertiary EFL students majoring in English education at a state university in West Sumatra, Indonesia. Thirty-two students were selected utilizing convenience sampling as the research sample. By employing a correlational approach, the instrument used for this analysis was a TOEFL test consisting of 30 questions to measure students' ability to read critically. In addition, a questionnaire was also developed based on the theory of experts composed of 20 statements used to measure students' reading anxiety. Pearson product-moment correlation was used to investigate the relationship between reading anxiety and students' critical reading ability. The study found that 1) most students experience anxiety at the intermediate level, 2) the level of students' critical reading ability is at the average level, and 3) there is a significant relationship between students' reading anxiety and critical reading ability. The results imply that the reading anxiety students experience correlates to their scores in critical reading, leading to a significant effect of reading anxiety on students' critical reading skills.

Abstract

BPK's audit and game theory audit analysis were carried out by conducting an interview approach with several experts in order to develop a modeling game. Game theory analysis is carried out to compile based on utility modeling. Then each utility model will be measured and obtained using the backward induction method. Based on the results of the game modeling, it was found that in the BPK examination, when the government was compliant or disobedient in the negotiation process, it became a very credible process. This is in accordance with the existing audit mechanism because BPK has advantages in terms of audit. The difference between government scrutiny and the bad nature of institutions compared to credible institutions, namely the corrupt nature of the government, will result in a negotiation process that can be carried out easily. The government's initiative to establish communication with BPK is used by extortion to increase BPK's utility. Initiatives for corrupt behavior can be initiated by both parties. This shows the existence of corrupt practices caused by the superiority of the institution and the existence of information gaps carried out by the BPK. These institutional advantages and gaps have given rise to the practice of manipulating findings.
