Abstract

Childbirth is the process of delivering a fetus, resulting in pain caused by contractions of the uterus muscles, which is felt in the lower back to the thighs. Untreated pain can lead to psychological and physiological problems for the mother. The intensity of labor pain during the first stage is mostly felt by primigravida mothers, higher compared to multiparous mothers. Efforts to reduce pain include massage counter-pressure techniques and relaxation techniques. The study employed a quasi-experimental research design with pretest-posttest methodology, utilizing quota sampling technique, The research sample consisted of 20 postpartum mothers who were primigravida. Data collection involved the use of the NRS measurement tool thought observation and the was analysed using the t-test as the data followed a normal distribution. The research findings indicated that the mean pain score before intervention was 8.88, which decreased to 5.05 after applying the massage counter pressure technique, while the mean pain score before intervention was 8.88 and after 8.65 using relaxation technique, Hence, it can be concluded that both massage counterpressure and relaxation techniques were effective in reducing pain, with a p-value of 0.001 Recommendations suggest that these techniques could be utilized to alleviate pain among postpartum mothers

Abstract

Cardiac arrest is one of the biggest causes of death in the world. The success of cardiac arrest treatment depends on the effectiveness, quality, and response time of CPR. Manual chest compressions are considered more effective compared to mechanical chest compressions. Objective to report the result of implementation of manual chest compressions with nursing problem spontaneous circulation disorder in cardiac arrest patients. The writing and data collection method for compiling this scientific paper uses a descriptive case study method which uses interviews, observations, physical examinations, literature studies, and documentation studies presented in the form of narratives, tables, and also pictures. A patient with a hypovolemic shock condition has vomited more than 3 times, coughing with blood, nosebleeds, pulse 134x/minute, breathing frequency 26x/minute that is not treated properly can cause cardiac arrest with an unpalpable carotic pulse, breathing 6x/minute, SPO2 76%, illegible blood pressure, and ECG images show asystole. The main nursing problem is spontaneous circulatory disorders. Manual chest compressions are given for 6 minutes or 3x5 cycles. The evaluation showed the carotid pulse is not palpable, absent of breathing, the patient shows rigor mortis, and ECG images show asystole. Conclusion early recognition and prevention is the most important things to prevent patient from cardiac arrest. The author hopes the implementation of manual chest compressions could solve the nursing problem of spontaneous circulatory disorder in cardiac arrest patients.

Abstract

Bipolar is a mental disorder with two contradictory moods, namely depression and manic. Patients with bipolar disorder during the manic phase are often associated with increased violent behavior, because during the manic phase the patient will experience excessive euphoria, impulsiveness, and lack of self-control, causing aggressive behavior. Patients who lose control of themselves will be controlled by their anger so that the patient can harm themselves, other people and the environment, such as killing other people or themselves. The purpose of this case study is to determine the success of providing strategies for implementing violent behavior. The method used is a case study carried out by nursing care including assessment, data analysis, nursing diagnosis, planning interventions, implementation, evaluation and observation. Case studies are carried out during 1 to 4 days of monitoring. The intervention provided in this case study used direct demonstration. The results of the intervention given to patients were a reduction in signs of violent behavior in patients.

Abstract

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has been widely used as an effective and efficient therapeutic strategy for managing various mental disorders in both developed and developing countries. However, each modification of CBT counseling services provided to families, particularly those with marital conflicts, will inevitably have varying levels of effectiveness. Therefore, a scientific study is needed to provide an overview of how effective CBT counseling is for families, even with various modifications. The purpose of this study is to systematically review and analyze the effects of CBT on families with marital conflicts, considering modifications in the content and duration of the sessions provided. The research method involves a literature review by collecting sources from databases such as TOJDAC, SCI, International Journal of Medical Research & Health Sciences, IJHCS, and the Iranian Journal of Educational Sociology, while establishing inclusion and exclusion criteria. The study results, derived from the analysis of four pieces of literature on cognitive behavioral therapy, indicate that families or couples who receive CBT counseling are generally better at managing and resolving family conflicts, particularly marital conflicts, compared to those who do not receive therapy.

Abstract

One of the clinical manifestations caused by mastectomy surgery is pain. Mastectomy wounds cause lymphedema, limited movement of the shoulder joint, and acute pain. One of the complementary therapies to reduce pain is slow relaxation exercise. The aim of implementing this slow relaxation exercise is to prevent limitations in the range of motion of the shoulder joint and post-operative pain. Exercise applies simple movements that function to improve blood circulation after surgery, facilitate the release of residual surgical blood into the drain tube and make the patient relax. The implementation of KIAN was carried out in the Dahlia Room from June 1 2024 to June 3 2024, carried out at 14.00 with a duration of 5 minutes with a sample of 1 patient. This slow relaxation exercise is carried out on the first post-mastectomy day of surgery. The application of slow relaxation exercise is in the form of physical movements. This exercise is carried out accompanied by a nurse, then the patient can do the exercise independently. The instrument for assessing the pain scale uses VAS (Visual Analogy Scale). The results of this intervention showed a reduction in pain in post-mastectomy patients during 3 days of exercise. The assessment of the pain scale before the slow relaxation exercise was carried out on the first day was 7, on the third day after the slow relaxation exercise was applied the pain scale dropped to 4.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the relationship between the frequency of gadget use and social interaction skills in preschool children. Utilizing a quantitative analytic design with a cross-sectional approach, the research collected data from preschoolers to analyze the impact of gadget use frequency on their social skills. Data were gathered through questionnaires and direct observations, and analyzed to determine the significance of the relationship between gadget usage duration and social interaction skills. The results indicate that longer gadget use is negatively associated with social interaction skills; children who use gadgets for extended periods exhibit lower social skills compared to those with shorter gadget usage durations. The p-value of 0.002 confirms the statistical significance of this relationship. The findings underscore the importance of limiting gadget use to support healthy social development in preschoolers and highlight the need for active parental involvement in managing technology use. This study provides valuable insights for developing policies and practices that promote a balance between gadget use and social interaction in early childhood.

Abstract

One of the treatments used to treat fractures is surgery or surgery. The effects of this surgery can cause pain to the patient. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out proper management so that patients are able to control the pain they feel. Pain control measures can be carried out in non-pharmacological ways such as cold compress therapy. Cold compresses help in compressing and slowing down the transmission of pain nerves. The purpose of implementing this case study is to apply cold compress therapy to post-ORIF patients in the Edelweis room of Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province. The procedure is performed on one patient for 10 minutes once a day for 3 days. Before and after the procedure, we measure the patient's pain scale using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). The indicators assessed include complaints of pain, grimacing, alertness, restlessness, sleep disturbances, and pulse. From this application, an average reduction in the patient's pain scale was obtained by 4. The results of applying cold compresses can help to reduce pain in post-ORIF patients. Thus, nurses can make cold compress therapy a form of nursing action in the nursing care of post-ORIF patients.

Abstract

Gout is a degenerative problem that attacks the joints and is caused by complications of hyperuricemia. One therapy to reduce pain is a warm compress with red ginger water. Red ginger is bitter, spicy and also anti-inflammatory so it can reduce joint pain. This study aims to describe the management of warm compress therapy with red ginger water for pain in subjects with gout. This research used a qualitative research design with a case study approach in the Cikole Community Health Center Work Area, West Bandung Regency from March 29-April 4 2024, with two subjects who experienced gout, who were experiencing moderate pain (scale 1-6). The intervention was carried out for seven consecutive days with a duration of 15 minutes in the afternoon at each patient's home. Pain level assessment was measured using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). This research shows that a warm compress with red ginger water can reduce moderate pain to mild pain. The reduction in pain is due to the effect of the active substance content in red ginger which is able to inhibit the formation of prostaglandins and leukotrienes which can transmit impulses to the brain to block painful stimuli, so that pain impulses to the brain will be reduced and pain will decrease. Therefore, it is recommended to provide warm compress therapy with red ginger water to patients suffering from gout.

Abstract

Nursing services as an integral part of healthcare services contribute significantly to determining the quality of care in hospitals. One factor that can influence resilience is spirituality. The aspect of spirituality can help an individual find meaning in life and accept their conditions, thereby providing a positive response to changes occurring within the individual. The method used in this study is quantitative, with a descriptive correlational research design using a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 91 nurses selected through simple random sampling. The research instruments used were the DSES questionnaire and the Resilience Scale. Results: The majority of nurses had high spiritual status, with 75 nurses (82.4%), and high resilience, with 46 nurses (50.5%). The Kendall Tau C correlation test results showed a p-value of 0.017 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between spiritual status and nurse resilience. It can be concluded that nurses with high spiritual status will also have high resilience. It is recommended for nurses to continually develop their spiritual lives to maintain good resilience.
