Abstract

The primary aim of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of the 6-3-5 brainwriting methodology in instructing writing proficiency to students in the eighth grade at SMP Negeri 21 Palembang. A genuine experimental study approach was employed by the researchers, utilising a sample size of 64 students. The researchers employed pretests and posttests as tools for data collection. The present study employed paired and independent sample t-tests, as well as additional t-tests, for the purpose of data analysis. The findings from the paired t-test analysis indicated that the experimental group obtained an average score of 70.94 on the pretest, while the control group obtained a baseline score of 39.69. On the posttest, the experimental group achieved an average score of 84.53, whereas the control group exhibited an average score of 45.94. The identified discrepancies suggest that there is a substantial disparity in the mean scores of the two groups; the experimental group exhibits superior scores when compared to the control group's pretest-posttest results. In addition, the t-value produced by the independent sample t-test was 0.000, which is less than the predetermined level of significance of 0.05. This finding indicates that the 6-3-5 brainwriting technique effectively guided learners through the process of constructing recount narratives.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the ability to solve learning problems in the Islamic education learning system planning course (PSPP) through Polya's steps (understand the problem, devise a plan, carry out the plan, and looking back), using a quantitative descriptive approach. The results showed that the use of Polya's steps was quite effective in solving learning problems in PSPP subjects. From the skill test, 4 categories of scores were obtained, namely students who obtained a score of 100 and a score scale of A amounted to 6 people with a percentage of 13.04%. While students who obtained a score of 95 with a value scale of A were 13 people with a percentage of 28.26%. Students who scored 90 with a grade scale B were 20 people with a percentage of 43.48%. While students who scored 75 with a grade scale C were 7 people with a percentage of 15.22%.

Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive and concise guide to the distinct steps involved in writing survey articles, review articles, and systematic literature review articles. These three types of articles play pivotal roles in summarizing, analyzing, and synthesizing existing research, thereby contributing to the dissemination of knowledge in various academic fields. For survey articles, the key steps encompass topic selection, extensive literature review, logical organization, and critical analysis. In contrast, review articles focus on selecting, summarizing, and evaluating pertinent research, while providing context and addressing controversies. Systematic literature review articles demand a methodical approach, beginning with a well-defined research question, protocol development, comprehensive literature search, stringent inclusion criteria, data extraction, quality assessment, data synthesis, and transparent reporting. This guide aims to assist researchers, scholars, and students in navigating the intricate process of producing high-quality articles in these genres, facilitating knowledge dissemination, and contributing to academic advancement. By elucidating the unique requirements and methodologies associated with each type of article, this comprehensive guide empowers writers to effectively communicate existing knowledge and enhance scholarly conversation in their respective fields.

Abstract

This research aims to better understand the interplay between Indonesian students' socioeconomic background, their views on the efficacy of language instruction, and the overall results of their language classes. This study aimed to achieve that goal by including 350 undergraduate students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidenreng Rappang who were taking English-language courses. Based on their socioeconomic status, they were categorized. In response to a questionnaire, they shared their views on the best ways to acquire a second language in various linguistic settings. To ensure that all participants were on the same page in terms of their overall level of proficiency or the results of their language study, they were also given a practice test of the TOEFL exam. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and other parametric statistical tests were applied to the quantitative data. The results showed that the students' socioeconomic position had a positive correlation with the overall language learning outcome. In addition, the results showed that the participants' ideas about language learning had a significant impact on their language learning outcomes. The results suggest that both the rate of language acquisition and the likelihood of measurement errors can be improved provided language instructors have the information they need to help their students overcome negative beliefs.
