Abstract

The use of technology in everyday teaching practice is commonly seen nowadays. Throughout the span of using computer in Language Teaching, commonly known as computer-assisted language learning (CALL).  Open CALL, which is justified happens nowadays, is determined by the roles of CALL as a simulation, games and computer-mediated communication (CMC). The goal of CALL or various technological product and devices in language learning should be fully integrated where it looks like an ‘invisible' implementation as the technology embedded in every teaching and learning, which means normalization. Therefore, this article explores particularly for blogs as a form of CMC, whether is it feasible to be normalized in everyday teaching practice or not. This article contributes to the rationality that it seems reasonable to conclude blogging is feasible to be normalized in everyday language teaching as long as the issues mentioned by could be resolved. Some steps should be considered which are alterations regarding technology form, approach, and practice among teachers and learners. Its implication is that teaching concept of writing will change to follow asynchronous and synchronous forms of blogs.

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this study was to explore the students’ perspectives regarding the use of Facebook and Instagram in writing paragraphs. This research is qualitative and used interview as the method in collecting data. The subject of the research is the English Literature students of the Faculty of Language and Literature, Universitas Negeri Makassar. Two classes were taken as the subject and they were taught paragraph writing during the semester. Representatives from the two classes were chosen as informants of the research to be interviewed. The results showed that English students of English Literature, Universitas Negeri Makassar gave positive perceptions about using Facebook and Instagram as a means of learning English, especially in writing paragraphs. Some advantages and strategies for using Facebook and Instagram in learning English are presented in this study. The findings from this research become important input for the students themselves in the university context and also as useful information among university practitioners so that they can utilize social media such as Facebook and Instagram at universities not only as communication tools but also as learning and teaching tools.

Abstract

This programme proposes and evaluates the implementation of a training programme titled "Improving Entrepreneurship Students' Tax Literacy Through Tax Socialisation Programme" which aims to improve tax understanding and skills of tax literacy among students majoring in entrepreneurship. A preliminary study was conducted to analyse the level of tax literacy and students' needs, providing a basis for designing an appropriate socialisation programme. The implementation of the programme was carried out in accordance with the plan and schedule that had been set. Evaluation was conducted through monitoring participants' participation and their responses during the socialisation activities.  The results of this study are expected to provide insight into the effectiveness of tax socialisation programmes in improving the tax literacy of entrepreneurship students. The conclusions from this study can provide a basis for the development of similar programmes in various higher education contexts and different disciplines.

Abstract

Program ini mengusulkan dan mengevaluasi implementasi pelatihan berjudul "Peningkatan Kompetensi Back End Web Programming: Pelatihan JavaScript untuk Mahasiswa" dengan tujuan mempersiapkan mahasiswa dalam kompetensi pemrograman web di bidang back end. Dilakukan studi pendahuluan untuk menganalisis tingkat kompetensi awal mahasiswa dalam JavaScript, yang menjadi dasar dalam merancang program pelatihan yang sesuai. Pelaksanaan program dilakukan sesuai rencana dan jadwal yang telah ditetapkan, sementara evaluasi dilakukan dengan memantau partisipasi peserta dan respons mereka selama kegiatan sosialisasi. Diharapkan hasil penelitian ini memberikan pemahaman tentang efektivitas program dalam meningkatkan kemampuan JavaScript untuk pengembangan back end website. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan landasan untuk pengembangan kompetensi pemrograman web mahasiswa khususnya dalam penggunaan JavaScript untuk pengembangan back end.

Abstract

AbstractThis research discuss about the behavior and the purpose of this study is to analyze the behavior of young people in eighth grade films who experience closed behavior due to technological factors or what we usually called social media. The researchers uses a descriptive qualitative method to explore the behavior displayed by the main character and also to see what factors or impacts have influenced behavior of the main character in the film. Here the researcher takes the object of a film entitled Eighth Grade which was published in 2018. The researcher uses a literary psychology approach. In this thesis, the researchers used Skinner's theory, S-O-R (stimulus organism response). From the results of the study that there are 5 characteristics that indicate that the main character has closed behavior. There are 3 data for stress or anxiety characteristics, 6 data for nervous characteristics, 4 data for slow response characteristics. Then there are 6 data for the characteristics of being alone and finally the characteristics of a nice person, there are 3 data. The researchers used Hakim's theory to classify the behavioral characteristics experienced by Kayla as the main character in the Eighth Grade film. After being classified, the researchers analyzed using the S-O-R theory from Skinner. Then the last one is the factor that causes Kayla to have closed behavior, namely the social media factor. There are positives and negatives. There are 4 data that have a positive impact on Kayla as the main character and there are 7 data from the negative impact that has affected Kayla as the main character. Keywords: Behavior, SocialMedia, EighthGrade, YoungPeople, Film

Abstract

The role of teachers in creating interactive and interesting learning is very important in today's digital era. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to improve the skills of high school teachers in Pinrang Regency in using the Quizizz application as a gamification-based interactive learning media. Through training and mentoring, this program seeks to overcome the obstacles of limited teacher skills in utilizing interactive learning technology. Observations and interviews show that most teachers are not familiar with the Quizizz application, which has an impact on low student motivation and learning outcomes. This PKM is implemented through training and mentoring methods at the Pinrang Regency Education Office. The training results show a significant increase in teachers' understanding and skills using the application, which directly improves teacher creativity and student learning motivation. This program is expected to improve the quality of learning and have a positive impact on student learning outcomes in Pinrang District.

Abstract

This study aims to find out untapped strategies to solve ielts speaking issues in relation to gender, age, and social status. The increasing importance of English as a global communication tool has led to a surge in demand for IELTS courses in Indonesia. Despite various preparation strategies, many Indonesian IELTS test takers face significant challenges, particularly in the speaking component. This study explores the effectiveness of affective and social strategies in overcoming these challenges, with a specific focus on the impact of gender, age, and social status. Drawing on a combination of literature review and empirical evidence, the study highlights the role of anxiety management, positive self-encouragement, and cultural understanding in enhancing speaking performance. The findings suggest that integrating these strategies into IELTS preparation can lead to improved outcomes for test takers, offering practical recommendations for both learners and educators.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to provide insight into how the Merdeka Curriculum is being taught at one of high school in South Sulawesi, it is SMAN 1 Takalar. Using a phenomenological descriptive design, the study gathers descriptive data from verbal or written statements as well as actions that are seen. The teachers of SMAN 1 Takalar are research participants. Based on observations, the research's conclusions showed that teachers had done a good job of implementing autonomous curriculum learning. Teachers that successfully move through the phases of learning preparation, execution, and assessment. Overall success is observed, despite difficulties in updating, and is attributed to the proactive application of distinctiveness and technology integration strategies. Teachers' assessments of the quality of learning are influenced by evaluation techniques like learning reflection. In summary, SMAN 1 Takalar's learning environment is positively impacted by the Merdeka Curriculum. encouraging dynamism and adaptability to the demands of students. In order to maximize the benefits of the curriculum and guarantee fair outcomes for all parties involved in the learning process, it is imperative that ongoing efforts be made to comprehend and address the diverse teacher viewpoints.

Abstract

In the current century, racism is a problem in society that is still happening. Various kinds of movements have been made so that this action can be completely destroyed. The art activists began to run campaigns through their literary works. One of them is the movie called Green Book. Taking the green book film as the object of research, this research wants to show acts of racism in movie and compare acts of racism that occur against black people in the United States. This movie is based on the true story of American society during the Jim Crow Act in 1962. The author uses a qualitative descriptive method with a sociological approach to explain racist behavior to black Americans in America. The results of this study indicate that the racist behavior that occurs in the movie "Green Book" is indeed a picture of racism that occurs in the United States.

Abstract

This article investigated and examined filler words' types, functions, and factors in students' speech while converting the written language to spoken language at the English department of Universitas Negeri Makassar in the pedagogy of speaking class.  Subjects are non-native English speakers but EFL students. This article uses qualitative research techniques. The data were collected from classroom observations, interviews, and transcription. The transcriptions were interpreted and grouped using the theory of Rose (1998). The occurrences of fillers were analyzed by the idea of Clark and Tree (2002), and the causes and function of fillers were analyzed by the theory of Kharismawan (2017) and Duvall et al. (2014). The findings showed that: (1) The students produced lexical and non lexical fillers while converting the written language to spoken language.  (2) Fillers appear at the beginning, middle, and near or the end of the utterance.  (3) The findings showed that the students produced fillers as hesitation devices, empathizing devices, mitigating devices, editing terms devices, and time-creating devices. Besides, a word cannot be categorized as a filler if it stands or works as a conjunction in an utterance.  (4) Lastly, this research found that the filler causes were divided attention, infrequent words, and nervousness.
