Abstract

Abstract: This research is a kind of survey and aims to find out and analyze empirically the effects of student’s perception on teacher performance and learning motivation towards student’s achievement in English subject. The object population of this research is private junior high students in Indramayu.  The sample was gained through simple random sampling. The collection of the data is done by questionnaire for both independent variables and by teachers’ file mid-term test for dependent variable. The gained data was analyzed by using correlation technique and multiple regressions. The result of this research is: 1) There are any significant effects of students perception on teacher performance and learning motivation jointly towards students’ achievement in English subject.  It is proved by Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05 and Fo = 49.077; 2) There is a significant effect of students’ perception on teacher performance towards students’ achievement in English subject.  It is proved by Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05 and to = 5.009; 3) There is a significant effect of learning motivation towards students’ achievement in English subject.  It is proved by and Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05 and to = 6.773.  It means that the students’ achievement in English subject is sufficient influenced by students’ perception on teacher performance and learning motivation.Key Words: Students’ Perception; Teacher Performance; Learning Motivation; Students Achievement.

Abstract

Abstract: The research aims to understand the effects of simple present verb and vocabulary mastery on students' writing skills in the descriptive text at state vocational high schools in Tangerang Regency. The method used in this research is a survey method. The research shows: There are any significant effects of simple present verb mastery and vocabulary mastery jointly towards students' writing skill in descriptive Text at State Vocational High Schools in Tangerang Regency. It is proved by the result value Sig = 0,000 < 0,05 and F observed = 191,873. It can be concluded that the simple present verb variable and vocabulary significantly influence students' writing skills in the descriptive text at state vocational high schools in Tangerang Regency.Keywords: simple present verb mastery, vocabulary mastery, students' writing skill in descriptive text.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the impact of genre-based approach and vocabulary mastery on students’ recount text writing skill. The population of the research is nine graders from private Islamic junior high school in Cikarang. The sample was taken from two private Islamic junior high schools. The method used in survey method. Data were collected through questionnaire dissemination techniques and test. Data analysis using the techniques of simple correlation coefficients and multiple correlations using Pearson’s formula are also assisted by using SPSS 20.0 version. Coefficient of determination and regression test are also using SPSS 20.0 version. Statistic test used was the t test and F test. The study was conducted in February to June 2019. The result of the study indicates that there are significant effects of genre-based approach and vocabulary mastery together on students’ recount text writing. It is proved by the score of Fo = 56,608 and Sig. 0,000 < 0,05. The data shows that genre-based approach and vocabulary mastery influence significantly and simultaneously on students’ recount text writing skill.

Abstract

This research aims to: 1) show types of morpholigical errors in descriptive writing, 2) to show types of syntactic erros in descriptive writing, 3) to show types of errors, in terms of morphology or syntact in descriptive writing. It uses qualitative method (case study). It was conducted in SMA Negeri 1 Bangkinang Kota, Riau. It has started in September to completion. The 62 sample were gained through random sampling. The error classification sheets, which are derived from 62 students’ writing from SMA Negeri 1 Bangkinang, are used for the research instrument. The results of this research are: 1) there are some morphological errors in students’ descriptive writing, such as inflection, derivation, noun, adjective, verb, adverb, preposition, article, copula (be), auxiliary, conjunction, and pronouns. The errors mostly occur in auxiliary with a percentage of 14.67%. 2) there are some syntactical errors in students’ descriptive writing, such as passive voice, tense, noun phrase, prepositional phrase, subject/predicate, subject-verb agreement, demonstrative determiner, and paired adjective. The errors highly occur in Subject-verb agreement with a percentage of 23.04%. 3) The morphological and syntactical errors occur in the ommision, addition, misformation, and misordering.

Abstract

Abstract. The aim of the research is to know: 1) mistake which often in writing text descriptive. 2) mistake of usage of tense present simple in writing text descriptive..  3) mistake of usage of adjective in writing text descriptive student Senior High School in Bekasi. If is true there mistake which is signifikan hence how big mistake of simple tense present and of adjective in writing text descriptive. Method use in this research is an descriptive kualitative. Sampel of the research followed by 65 from 645 student consisting of 33 students class 8 from Junior High School 1 Tarumajaya and 32 student class 8 dan 32 8 from Junior High School 2 Tarumajaya. Data collecting is taken through test which consist of giving of tes write text of deskripsi in English and here in after analyse found by mistake is student in it. End session, 1) There are 232 mistake of tense present simple and of adjective in descriptive article of student, among others 126 mistake of tense present simple and 106 mistake of adjective. 2) Type mistake of using of tense present simple which is often conducted by student is omission of error counted 100 mistake with percentage 79 %. Of Omission Error is mistakes having the character of omission marked by absence item which ought to there in real correct and good sentence. 3) While type mistake of usage of adjective which often conducted by student is Misodering of error counted 47 mistake with percentage 44 %. Of Misodering Error caused by location which not true to morpheme group or morpheme in sentence meaning can be concluded by most of all student do mistake write  of simple tense present and almost semi from student mistake write adjective in text of deskriptive.Keywords     : Simple present tense, verb, adjective, text description

Abstract

This research is aimed at finding the effect of vocabulary mastery and reading interest toward the students’ narrative writing skill. The hypothesis of this study includes: 1). There is a collaborative significant effect of the vocabulary mastery and reading interest toward the students’ narrative writing skill; 2). There is a significant effect of the vocabulary mastery toward the students’ narrative writing skill; and 3). There is a significant effect of the reading interest toward the students’ narrative writing skill. The method of the research is a double regression linear by descriptive survey analysis applying some samples from a number of population and using questionnaire and tests instrument for data collection. The number of the samples is 80 students of grade ten (X) who are students of the State Vocational High School in West Jakarta.

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of the research is to know: 1) The characters in the novel "The Land of Five Towers" 2) The educational value in the novel "The Land of Five Towers." The data is the novel "The Land of Five Towers" by Ahmad Fuadi. This research is qualitative. The writer analyzes the characters by using Nurgiyantoro's categories of characterization. There are six main characters, and they have about 19 personalities. The dominant is religious as all the characters have this personality. The direct method characterization is about 44%, while the indirect method is about 56%. 2) Besides, the educational value is analyzed by Tirtarahardja and Sulo's definitions of values. The dominant one is a moral value: about 80% and religious value is about 20%. In moral value, the dominant is sincerity (31%), and the dominant one in religious value is faithful to God (40%). The novel has a more powerful portrayal of the character and educational value. Hopefully, by analyzing those, the readers will apply the positive lesson they get from the novel in their life.Keywords: character education; educational value; novel analysis

Abstract

The Purpouse of this reseach is to know about : the effect of intellectual intelegence level and student’s motivation towards student’s English learning achievement as itself or together. The mode that used in this research is descriptive model. The data that used trhough technic test and cuatitative analysis, show that 1). There are a significant  effects of Intellectual Intelegence Level and Student’s Motivation towards Student’s English Learning Achievement as itself or together. The Mode that used in this research is Descriptive Model. The Data that used through technic test and cuantitative analysis, show that There are any significant effects of intellectual intelegence level and student’s motivation together towards student’s English learning achievement at Vocational High School in Sukabumi District of West Java Province. It is approved by the score of Sig. 0,000 < 0,05 and Fh = 20.833. 2). There is a significant effect of intellectual intelegece level towards student’s English learning achievement at Vocational High School in Sukabumi District of West Java Province . it is approved by the score of  Sig. 0,000 < 0,05 and th = 3.782. 3). Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to find out the usage of coherence and cohesion on the Students’ Descriptive Texts, especially in ten grader students at state senior high school in Cirebon. This study adopted thematic progression analysis to explore coherence in the students’ Descriptive text. This study was a qualitative study that used content analysis. The technique of collecting data was documentation from 46 students writing descriptive texts. The procedures were firstly collecting data, analyzing data, presenting data, and concluding the result of the study. Based on the analyzed data,1) 46 students’ writing descriptive text had grown the writing as the series of the stage in the descriptive text, using Identification and Description. Then, in analyzing coherence 2) 76% students got the coherence level is good, there are 19% in Fair, there are 2% in Less and 3% in Poor and in analyzing cohesion 3) there are 1052 cohesion markers that consist of 852 findings markers of grammatical cohesion (596 findings markers reference and 256 markers conjunction) and 200 markers of lexical cohesion (200 markers repetition).Keywords: series of stage, coherence, cohesion

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze taboo words and moral value analysis in the “Bad Teacher” movie by Jake Kasdan. The method she used in this research is descriptive qualitative research that aims to describe taboo words and moral value contained in the movie “Bad Teacher”. The duration of the movie “Bad Teacher” is 92 minutes. The data obtained are to be analyzed and classified based on taboo words from the dialogue and the moral value, which consists of five elements, there are kind and friendly, bravery, honesty, hard work, honesty, and patriotism. 1) After analyzing the pragmatics and moral value from the movie Bad Teacher” by Jake Kasdan which consist of 52 dialogues, the writer found out that there are 32 dialogues used taboo words and 2) 13 conversations contains moral value: 5 conversations or 38,48% moral value of kind and friendly, four conversations or 30,76% of hard work, two conversations or 15,38% of patriotism, one conversation or 7,69 of honesty, one conversation or 7,69% of bravery. Kind and friendly reached the most percentage because the consisting of life in the school from many kinds of characters, and it makes the story more exciting and touching.Keywords: sociolinguistics; moral value; taboo; movie analysis
