Abstract

The Sandwich Generation refers to individuals of working age who are simultaneously responsible for raising their own children and caring for their aging parents, a dual responsibility that presents numerous challenges. This burden is particularly significant for women in Indonesia, where cultural expectations often require them to prioritize family caregiving over professional careers. Many Sandwich Generation women face difficult choices between raising their children, maintaining employment, and providing financial support for both their children and elderly parents. Using data from the 2014 Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) by probit regression, it is known that the responsibilities of being in the Sandwich Generationsignificantly impact women's decisions to work. This finding underscores the need for policies that support women who are balancing these dual roles, particularly in creating environments that enable them to participate in the workforce while fulfilling their caregiving duties. Implementing such policies could greatly enhance the quality of life for these women by reducing the strain of managing work and family responsibilities. Based on this research, sddressing the needs of the Sandwich Generation is crucial for fostering a more inclusive and supportive societal framework in Indonesia.

Abstract

The income of the population of a society is important for welfare because it influences its ability to meet basic needs. In Malang Regency there are around 2,685,900 people with a GDP per capita of 43.73 million rupiah in 2022. This research applies a quantitative approach. The research results show that the Covid-19 pandemic, rising fuel prices, low levels of education, people's mindsets that care less about education, economic limitations, lack of employment opportunities, and climate conditions are the causes of the high number of poor people, low levels of education, and low levels of poverty. high open unemployment. The impact is an increase in crime, limited access to education, high levels of unemployment, poverty, and a decline in prosperous economic conditions. Apart from these factors, education has a significant influence on people's income. Community income is not significantly influenced by the number of poor people and the level of open unemployment. The Malang Regency Government has implemented various programs to overcome these challenges, including Indonesian Economic Heroes (PENA), creating opportunities for small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the Malang Makmur equality education movement program (GERTAK Malang Makmur), the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP), labor-intensive programs, job training programs, and the Pre-Employment Card Program.

Abstract

Economic development can be observed through the economic growth of a region. Capital expenditure, local government capital investment, and population growth can have different impacts on economic growth. This study aims to determine the influence of capital expenditure, local government capital investment, and population growth on economic growth. Secondary data on variables were obtained from BPS and DJPK from regencies/cities in the provinces of Banten, DI Yogyakarta, and Central Java for the period 2012-2021, using the multiple linear regression analysis method. The findings of the study align with Keynesian Theory, indicating that capital expenditure has a significant positive effect on economic growth. In contrast, local government capital investment shows a significant negative direction toward economic growth, which is inconsistent with Harrod-Domar Theory. Meanwhile, population growth has a significant positive effect on economic growth.
