Abstract

This study examines the impact of inflation, economic growth, health, and education on unemployment in Java from 2014 to 2023. Using panel data from six provinces in Java, the research employs a mutiple linear regresion model to analyze the relationship between these variables. The results indicate that economic growth and health have a significant negative impact on unemployment, while education has a significant positive impact. Inflation, however, does not show a significant effect on unemployment. These findings suggest that improving economic growth and health conditions can reduce unemployment, while the mismatch between education and labor market needs may increase unemployment. The study provides insights for policymakers to address unemployment through targeted economic and social policies.

Abstract

The industrial sector plays an important role in Indonesia's economy. According to BPS data (2023), the contribution of the industrial sector to GDP is greater than that of the agricultural sector, highlighting its role in economic growth and job creation. This study analyzes the factors influencing labor absorption in Indonesia's industrial sector during the 2013-2021 period, focusing on variables such as output, capital, wages, and the number of firms. Secondary data from BPS is analyzed using a multiple regression model. The findings show that all variables have a significant influence, with output, capital, and wages having a positive effect, while labor absorption has a negative impact, which tends to decline due to increased automation and a shift towards capital-intensive industries that reduce the demand for manual labor. This study emphasizes the importance of policies that balance industrial modernization with labor market inclusivity.

Abstract

This research analyzes the effect of pre-employment training and general training on the income of female informal sector workers in East Java. This research uses a multiple linear regression analysis method with data obtained from the results of the 2023 National Labor Force Survey (SAKERNAS). The research results show that pre-employment training has a positive but not significant effect on income, while general training has a positive and significant effect on income. The conclusion of this research shows that these findings are in line with human capital theory which states that investment in training can increase skills and income. Based on the findings of this research, the government is advised to improve the quality and sustainability of existing training programs and provide post-training assistance to ensure optimal application of skills. For further research, it is recommended to explore other factors that can influence workers' income and analyze the effect of training on opportunities to get a job.

Abstract

The implementation of national development cannot be separated from the role of the government through the programs it funds. Government spending is generally allocated to productive activities that can basically contribute to reducing disparities between provinces in Indonesia. However, not all of this government spending ends in waste alone. Based on this, this study aims to measure the extent to which publik spending efficiency can contribute to the convergence of economic growth in Indonesia by using government function spending data from 34 provinces for the period 2017 to 2022 taken from the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia. Furthermore, dynamic panel data estimation uses the Generalized Method of Moment (GMM) method to obtain the economic growth convergence coefficient.

Abstract

Labor productivity is a major factor in measuring economic growth in a country. According to Human Capital theory and Efficiency Wage Theory, one of the factors that affect labor productivity is education, health, and wages. However, this is not in line with the phenomenon that exists in DIY Province, where with a high level of education and health still makes DIY province as the province with the lowest productivity level in Java Island. This study aims to analyze the effect of education, health, and wages on labor productivity of districts/cities in DIY Province. This research uses an associate quantitative approach with secondary data obtained from the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia and the Central Bureau of Statistics of Yogyakarta Special Region, 2013-2023. Data analysis used multiple linear regression (panel data) and processed with e-views. The results of this study show that education and wage variables have a positive and significant impact, while health variables have a negative and insignificant effect on labor productivity. However, all three variables have a significant effect partially.

Abstract

The high CO2 emissions from forest fires in Sumatra and Kalimantan in 2018 2023 are a challenge to achieve net zero emissions. The implementation of the Paris Agreement Framework through aspects of regional environmental spending and technological development is needed to control CO2 emissions to remain low throughout industrialization at the stage of economic development. This study aims to see the effect of environmental expenditure and technology development on achieving Net Zero Emission. The results show that environmental function expenditure, ICT infrastructure access, Population Density, and Agriculture Forestry GRDP have a significant effect on increasing CO2 emissions. Meanwhile, ICT expertise and use have a significant effect on reducing CO2 emissions. The research is addressed to provincial governments on the islands of Sumatra and Kalimantan and environmental policy makers as a consideration in developing a net zero emission 2045 strategy.

Abstract

Indicators of government success in development can be seen from the low-income inequality and the depth of poverty. These goals can be achieved through budget realization for the public interest in the form of spending on education, health, and social protection functions. In addition to the government's role, other factors, such as the labor force participation rate and economic growth, also play an important role in reducing poverty. East Java Province occupies the region with the highest number of poor people in Indonesia with inequality showing an increasing trend. With this problem, this study used a sample of 38 districts/cities in East Java Province in 2018-2023 with the SEM-PLS method. The results show that economic growth, education function expenditure, and social protection function expenditure have a significant effect on poverty depth. In addition, economic growth and social protection function spending also have a significant effect on poverty depth through income inequality. Thus, there are indications that economic growth in East Java is less inclusive. The oversupply of labor and the inadequate quality of human resources fail to meet the needs of the labor market.
