Abstract

The study aimed to determine the effect of NPK Mutiara fertilizer and liquid Nasa organic fertilizer as well as each of the main factors on the growth and yield of melon plants (Cucumis melo L). The experimental design used was factorial 4 x 4 in Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The first factor was the administration of NPK Mutiara fertilizer consisting of 4 levels, namely: 0, 5, 10, and 15 grams/plant, and the second factor Nasa liquid organic fertilizer consisted of 4 levels, namely: 0, 3, 6, and 9 cc/plant. so that 16 combinations of treatments were obtained. Each combination of treatments consisted of 3 replications so that 48 units of the plot were obtained. Data from the observations were analyzed statistically (variance analysis) and BNJ advanced tests at the level of 5%. The parameters observed were flowering age, harvest age, stem diameter, fruit weight per fruit, the thickness of fruit flesh, and taste test. Research shows that the interaction of NPK Mutiara fertilizer and Nasa liquid organic fertilizer does not significantly affect all parameters, but singly NPK Mutiara fertilizer and liquid Nasa organic fertilizer give an influence on the parameters of observation. The main influence of NPK Mutiara fertilizer influences all observation parameters, namely flowering age, harvest age, stem diameter, widest leaf area, fruit circumference, fruit weight per fruit, production per plot, and thickness of fruit flesh. The best treatment is the administration of Pearl 5K NPK/plant (K1). While the main factors for the provision of liquid organic fertilizer Nasa affect the parameters of flowering age, harvest age, and widest leaf area. The best treatment is the administration of 6 ml/l water (N2) liquid organic fertilizer.

Abstract

Kampar regency is one of the districts in Riau province which contributes significantly to the economy in Riau Province, especially in the agricultural sector in the plantation sector. Rubber is a leading commodity in the plantation subsector that continues to be the government's attention to develop. Rubber plantations have important roles and positions, both economically, socially, absorbing labor and ecological roles. Plantation is also a source of prosperity, progress, independence, and pride of Kampar district government. Plantation management at present still relies on and relies on the abundance of human resources are relatively cheap. Efficiency, productivity, quality, sustainability are still low. Rubber farmers are generally less aware of how to use efficient production factors to obtain high rubber yields. The accuracy of the use of production inputs is important for farmers to achieve production efficiency levels both technically, allocatively and economically. This study aims to analyze the efficiency of rubber production in Kampar regency by building multiple linear regression model and production efficiency analysis. The results showed that the dominant factors affecting rubber production in Kampar Regency were number of plants, plant age, number of labor and investment. The factors of production are the number of plants, and the amount of labor is not technically efficient, allocative, and economical. The use of fertilizers tends to be technically and economically efficient, but alocatively inefficient. In order to obtain optimal production, this study recommends the need for rejuvenation of old or damaged rubber plants using superior seeds and maintained in accordance with the standards of rubber cultivation techniques. The efficient use of labor can be achieved by applying a rubber tapping system appropriately tailored to the conditions of the plant and the price of rubber. In addition, the use of balanced fertilizers (elements N, P, and K) in accordance with the recommended should be applied. Meanwhile, considering the fluctuating rubber prices and tend to vary between farmers, government intervention is required by applying a fair rubber auction market. Besides, there is an effort from farmers to maintain the quality of processed rubber

Abstract

Farm machinery is one of the important power sources to carry out farm operations today. The availability of farm power in adequate number is prerequisites for providing enough power in perform rice farming operation. This paper attempts to evaluate the farm machinery and power requirement for performing operations of small-scale rice farming in Kampar Regency, Riau Province. Data were obtained from field survey in 15 districts from 21 districts of Kampar Regency. Village surveys were chose for each selected district which are rice production center and farm machines have been used in working rice farm operations. Samples were purposively selected and consisted of 30 farmers, 5 extension staffs and 20 machine operators. They were interviewed to collect field data on September 2015 by using questionnaires. The results show that the number of farm machinery was not sufficient to fulfill requirement and provide enough power for farm operations. From farm machinery available, it provided power about 0.61 hp.ha-1, while minimum power required for efficient rice farming is about 0.8 hp.ha-1. The results suggest that the number and type of farm machinery must be increased with financial support and involve private sectors.

Abstract

Riau is one of the provinces that is highly dependent on the supplier area, not the producer area, but the rice consumer net. This causes the price of rice to fluctuate, so the observation of rice price development is very important for the Government of Riau Province. Price fluctuations with large variations are a problem whereas price fluctuations with low variations are relatively controllable, so research on the analysis of price variations, important to do. The results show that overall rice price variation in Riau Province and supplier areas in 2006 - 2015 were is relatively stable with an increasing trend but there was a rice price jump in 2008 as a result of the global economic crisis, where food prices are rising while revenues decrease.

Abstract

Indragiri Hilir District has 515,200 hectares of local coconut land with production of 418,200 tons (Statistic Board, 2015), but the area of land and its production is always decreasing. The decline of the area is caused by land damage, land conversion, the number of coconut plants that are old and dead and so affect to the need of raw materials for the development of the coconut industry in generating the number and type of product diversification. This research is conducted to analyze the internal and external factors that were influences to the development of local coconut industry which aims to know the internal and external factors in the development of coconut industry in Indragiri Hilir district. The result of the analysis showed that the internal factors that become the strength and impact on the development of the coconut industry are the large area of coconut plant that is large enough, the availability of a large workforce and already has a large scale coconut processing industry; while the weakness factor is the age of coconut plants is quite old, coconut farmersgenerally use local seeds, decreased coconut productivity and the limited number and type of diversification of coconut derived products. External factors that become opportunities for the development of the coconut industry is the high demand for coconut products and derivatives in the export market, coconut derivative products can still be developed and supported by local government and related agencies while external factors are a threat to the coconut industry development of coconut plantation damage due to sea water intrusion and high investment concerns in competing countries against the coconut industry.
