Abstract

The main problem faced by the smallholders of oil palm plantations is low productivity and quality of production as a result of low technology application on oil palm cultivation, starting from the use of seeds to harvesting operation. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between technology adaption in oil palm cultivation with the productivity of oil palm production in plasma land of PIR-Trans of PT. Asian Agri Ukui in Pelalawan Regency. The method used in this study was survey with purposive sampling, chi-square and Spearman’s rho correlation analysis was used to answer purposes of this study. As a result the chi-square analysis was obtained that chi-square value was greater than chi-square table and Spearman’s rho correlation. The results showed that there was a significant relationship of application technology with productivity of oil palm plantation on Plasma Land of PIR-Trans PT. Asian Agri Ukui in Pelalawan regency.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyse usage of farm equipment and machinery managed by group of UPJA and its impact on economic expansion of society. The research was conducted in district of Kuala Kampar Pelalawan Regency. Data and information obtained from field survey and also instansional tracing were then analysed descriptively through tabulation method. The results indicated that organization of UPJA group was led by a manager and assisted by some operators who had task to operate farm equipment and mashinery with three divisions. Divisions consisted of division operational who direct some operators, technical division and division administration who assist manager in the case of management and financial book keeping of UPJA group. The analyss results showed that pay back of power thresher was 1,1 year, reaper 2,1 year, and dryer 1,5 year. The impact of development of UPJA were to increase opportunity of working and business activities, land efficiency, handling of post-harvest and acceleration of technology transfer. The problems associated to development of UPJA are low human resource and capital resource, location far from downtown, crop pattern in study area which generally is still once one year.

Abstract

A study on the effect of stocking density toward growth rate of selais fish (Kryptopterus lais) was conducted in Betung lake, located in core zone of biosphere reserve of Giam Siak Kecil Bukit Batu, Riau Province from 1th May – 30 June 2011. The objective of the study was to determine the effect of the stocking density on the growth of selais fish reared in floating cages that placed into the Betung lake. The research used completely randomsize design experimental method with thee treatments of density and three replications. There were 10 fish/m³, 20 fish/m³ and 30 fish/m³. The seed of fish were placed into cages (1 m x 1 m x 1.2 m) and reared for 60 days. Commercial feed was given three times a day with 33% of protein. The result showed that stocking density had a significant effect on growth rate of K. lais. The best stock density was 10 fish/m³ and giving highest growth rate and daily growth rapid of selais fish, namely 23.7 gr and 2.55 %, respectively.

Abstract

The abandoned land of coal mining activity in a form of pond was used for fish culture by the people of Kutai Kartanegara Regency of East Kalimantan Province. However, the problem occurs firstly when the land opened for the open pit system that should make the change of water quality of physic, chemistry, and biology of pond after mining activity. This research was done to know the existing condition of former coal mining land, and to analyze the sustainability of aquaculture in this area. Aquaculture sustainability in former coal mining ponds were analyzing with multi dimensional scaling which is a developmental method of Rap-fish (rapid appraisal analysis). The results of the analyzing for every dimension showed that ecological, economical, and sociality has approved index, which mean that balanced were occurred in these dimension for sustainability of the aquaculture activity. The ecological dimension, economy, and social in the developing activity must be in balanced without domination to achieve for sustainability.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to know the pathogenic bacteria contamination on prawn post-harvested after being handled by fisherman and collectors and to study the bacterial contaminants in salty water pond as media cultivation and water process as well as ice cubes used by fisherman and collectors. Research carried out during three months at the communities’ salty water ponds in the Sub Districts of Muara Jawa, Anggana, and Muara Badak of Kutai Kartanegara Regency. The materials used consisted of tiger prawn (P. monodon F.) at the harvested age of 40-45 pieces/kg size, ice cubes, clean water, pond salty water, process water, and materials for microbial analysis. Sampling is also done on salty water pond, process water, and ice. Each sample taken was repeated three times. Analysis methods used to determine the Total Plate Count (TPC) is based on SNI 01-2339-1991. To measure the pathogenic bacteria at shrimp, salty pond water, process water, and ice cubes consisted of ​​Escherchia coli bacteria, was based on the SNI 01-2332-1991 method, Salmonella is based on the SNI 01-2335-1991 method, and Vibrio cholerae is based on the SNI 01-2341-1991 method. Data were then further tabulated and analyzed descriptively. The results indicated that E. coli bacteria only found at prawns, process water, and salty pond water from Muara Jawa Sub District, while in other Sub Districts of Muara Badak and Anggana were not found.

Abstract

This research aims to obtain the combination of BAP and NAA concentration which give the best effect on explant growth of Vanda orchid in-vitro. The research was conducted at the biotechnology laboratory Faculty of Agriculture Riau Islamic University Pekanbaru from August to December 2013. The completely randomized design with two factorials (BAP and NAA) was used. The observed parameters included percentage of shoot growing, shoot age, shoot height, shoot number and abnormal embryo somatic. Data were analysed using statistics and BNJ Test at the 5% significance level. The result showed that,interactionally,BAP and NAA applications had a significant effect on height plant with the best concentration without BAP and 1.0 ppm NAA. Individually, the application of BAP effected significantly on percentage of shoot growing, shoot growth, shoot height and shoot number with the best concentration without BAP and 0.1 BAP. Furthermore, the application of NAA influenced significantly on percentage of shoot growing, shoot age, shoot height and shoot number with the best concentration of 1.0 ppm NNA

Abstract

The objective of this research was to examine the effect of using dolomit and amelioran KCa intereactional and individual on growth of mini cutting for Eucalyptus pellita. The research was conducted at R & D Nursery PT. Arara Abadi during four months from October 2012 to January 2013. The completely randomized design was used by using two factorials. The first factor was P1 (Dolomit 6 kg/m3), P2 (Dolomit 1 g/m3), P3 (Kca 2 kg/m3), and P4 (Kca 5 kg/m3)). The second factor was M1 = Peat Media: CRH (3:1), M2 = Medya CRH: CH (2:1), and M3 = Media CRH: CH (1:2). The observed parameters were plant height, number of leaf, stem diameter, root volume, root lenght, plant biomass, growth percentage, and quality control. The result showed the use of dolomit and ameioran KCa for various media intereactonal had a significant effect on plant height and eukaliptus pelita biomass and the best treatment on the combination between P3M1 and peat media. The using of dolomit and ameioran KCa individually had an effect on plant heiht, number of leaf, stem diameter root volume, and plant biomass with the best treatment on P3 treatment. Treatment of various kinds of medya, individually, effected significantly on plant height, steam diameter, leaf number, root volume, biomass, and quality control with the best treatment of M1(media feat: CRH 3:1).

Abstract

Iron toxicity is one of the limiting factors of rice crop production in lowland area. Iron homeostasis in cell involves the role of ferritin protein. The objective of this study is to analyze potion of first intron to fourth exon sequence of local rice varieties from Indragiri Hilir, Riau Province. Plant material were three local rice genotype, namely Bakung, Siputih, and Serei, and two rice varieties consisted of IR64 (Fe toxicity-sensitive rice variety) and Siam Sintanur (Fe toxicity-tolerant rice variety). Methods include DNA isolation, PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), electrophoreses, and sequencing. The DNA sequence was analyzed using BLASTn and ClustalW2 programs. This research got DNA fragments of ferritin2 gene sizing of about 850 bp, 1200 bp, and 1500 bp. Sequence analysis of the 1200 bp DNA fragment showed the presence of 49 SNPs scattered portion of first intron to fourth exon. Bakung rice genotype had very close proximity to Siam Sintanur and Nipponbare compared with IR64, while Serei and Siputih rice genotypes had a great distance to Siam Sintanur and Nipponbare. The result concluded that Bakung rice genotype may be more tolerant to Fe-toxicity than Siputih and Serei.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The objective of this research is to examine the effect of various dosages of sludge of oil palm and NPK 16:16:16 fertiizers on growth and yield of roselle (Hibiscus safdariffa. L.). The research was carried out at the experimental farm Faculty of Agricuture Riau Islamic University Pekanbaru from May to October 2013. The competely randomized design with two factorials was used. The first factor was sludge of palm oi and the second factor was NPK 116:16:16 fertilizers. The observed parameters were plant height, flower age, harvest age, sepal number per plant, yield per plant, and number of sepal residue. Interactionally, the use of oil palm sudge of and NPK 16:16:16 fertiizers on rocella showed a significant effect on the number of flower sepal and yield per plant with the best treatment on combination of oil palm sludge with 6 kg/plot and NPK 16:16:16 fertilizers with 22.5 g/plant. Individually, the application of oil palm sludge gave a significant effect on pant height, flower age, harvesting age, sepal number per plant, yield per plant, and number of sepal residue with the best treatment on giving oil palm sludge of 6 kg/plot. The application of NPK 16:16:16 fertilizers affected significanty on plant height, flower age, harvest age, sepal number per plant, yield per plant, and number of sepal residue with the best treatment on giving NPK 16:16:16 fertilizers of 22.5 g/plant.

Abstract

This research aim to know the effect of KCl and bokashi on yield of sweet potato. The research was conducted at the experiment farm Faculty of agriculture Riau Islamic university Pekanbau from March to June 2013. The completely randomized design with two factorials was used. The first factor consisted of various doses of KCL fertilizer (K); without KCl, 5 g/planting bed, 10 g/planting bed, and 15 g/planting bed. The second factor consisted of various bokashi dosages; without bokashi, 50 g/plant, 100 g/plant, and 150 g/plant. Data were analyzed statistically according to F and BNJ tests at the 5% significance level. Interaction between KCL fertilizer and bokashi for sweet potato had a significant effect on sweet potato weight per tuber with the best treatment of 15 g/panting bed of KCl and 150 g/plant of bokashi. KCl fertilizer affected significantly on number of tuber per plant, tuber weight per tuber, tuber weight per plant, and dry material weight with the best treatment of 15 kg/panting bed. The use of bokashi also showed a significant effect on number of tuber per plant, tube weight per tuber, tuber weight per plant, and dry material weight with the best treatment of 150 g/plant.
