Horizon: Indonesian Journal of Multidisciplinary (HIJM) journal aims to stimulate discussions at all levels of mathematics education through disseminating significant and innovative scholarly studies that are of value to the international research communities. The journal welcomes articles focusing on all aspects of mathematics education including empirical, theoretical, methodological, and philosophical works that have a perspective wider than local or national interest. HIJM publishes only original scholarly works. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the construction of United States nationalism in the film Top Gun: Maverick through Robert Entman's framing analysis. The study used a qualitative approach with a media textual analysis method. Data were obtained through observation and documentation of six purposively selected scenes, then analyzed using Entman's four framing devices: define problems, diagnose causes, make moral judgments, and treatment recommendations. Data validity was carried out through theoretical triangulation and expert judgment. The results show that the film frames global threats as legitimizing the use of United States military force, positioning technological superiority, professionalism, and soldier solidarity as solutions to these threats, and constructing a positive image of the military institution through representations of heroism and global leadership. These findings indicate that Top Gun: Maverick functions as a medium for legitimizing military policy through a framing strategy that integrates nationalist narratives with representations of military superiority. Academically, this research extends the application of Entman's framing model in the study of audiovisual media by showing how popular media construct ideological legitimacy for the use of military force through narrative and visual construction.

Abstract

Optimal budget absorption is an important indicator of effective public financial management, but judicial work units still face various obstacles. This study aims to analyze the influence of budget planning, budget execution, and regulations on budget absorption in work units within the jurisdiction of the Riau High Court. The study used a quantitative approach with a causal design. The sample was determined using a saturated sampling technique (total sampling) so that the entire population consisting of 55 employees involved in financial management were used as respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that budget planning and budget execution had a positive and significant effect on budget absorption, while regulations had a negative but insignificant effect. This finding indicates that the success of budget absorption is more determined by the quality of planning and implementation effectiveness than the existence of regulations alone. The insignificance of regulations indicates that changes or complexity of rules have not directly affected budget absorption when work units already have adaptive implementation mechanisms. Simultaneously, all three variables have a significant effect on budget absorption. This study confirms that implementation capacity is a more determining factor than regulatory aspects in improving financial management performance in judicial institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), and Net Interest Margin (NIM) on the Dividend Payout Ratio (DPR) in banking sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2022–2025 period. The study used a quantitative approach with an associative method on 15 companies selected through purposive sampling, resulting in 60 observations. Secondary data in the form of annual financial reports were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that ROA and ROE have a positive effect on DPR, indicating that the higher a bank's ability to generate profits and returns to shareholders, the greater the company's tendency to distribute dividends. Conversely, NIM has no significant effect on DPR, indicating that interest income efficiency is not a primary consideration in dividend distribution policy. Simultaneously, ROA, ROE, and NIM have a significant effect on DPR, with the model explaining 97.2% of the variation in DPR. These findings confirm that profitability is the primary factor influencing dividend policy in banking companies, while intermediation performance reflected through NIM does not directly determine the amount of dividends distributed

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the construction of meaning of the TikTok Repost feature as a medium for self-expression and understand its role in shaping Generation Z's communication practices and digital identity. This study uses a qualitative approach with a constructivist paradigm. Research data were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of six Generation Z informants who actively use the TikTok Repost feature and five validators. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions to find patterns of meaning from the informants' experiences. The results show that the TikTok Repost feature is interpreted as a symbolic communication space that allows Generation Z to express feelings, show personal preferences, and build a digital self-representation. Through the selection and re-dissemination of content, users not only share information but also construct identities based on personal values, interests, and experiences. Furthermore, the Repost feature acts as a safe space for indirect self-disclosure and builds interactions with audiences through digital responses such as likes, messages, and reposts. These findings indicate that TikTok Repost is not just a content-sharing feature, but a digital communication practice that allows Generation Z to manage, display, and negotiate their identities in the social media environment.

Abstract

New student admission is a strategic process in higher education management because its success is determined not only by the number of students accepted, but also by the institution's ability to convert prospective students into re-registered students. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the student admission selection pattern at the Islamic University of Indonesia for the 2023/2024–2025/2026 academic year based on the ability of each pattern to produce registered students. The study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive evaluative method based on institutional data from the UII Monitor PMB system. The evaluation was conducted using conversion rate, enrollment yield, and withdrawal rate indicators. Data analysis includes descriptive statistics to describe admission performance, trend analysis to observe changes between periods, and Chi-Square and standardized residual tests to identify differences in the contribution of selection patterns to re-registration. The results show that the Cyber ​​pattern has the highest conversion rate of 27.79%, followed by CBT at 16.66%, PSB at 4.20%, and International at 3.38%. The chi-square test showed a significant difference between the selection patterns (χ² = 5029.271; p-value < 0.001). This finding suggests that data-based evaluation of selection patterns can inform decision-making in optimizing new student admission strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of sustainability reporting and green innovation on financial performance through corporate reputation in non-financial companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2019–2024 period. The study employed a quantitative approach with secondary data obtained from annual reports. The sample consisted of 16 companies selected using a purposive sampling technique. The analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with a pooled data approach to combine the company and time dimensions to increase the number of observations and more efficiently estimate the relationships between variables. Mediation testing used stepwise regression (hierarchical regression) to trigger the role of corporate reputation as an intervening variable. The results showed that sustainability reporting had a significant effect on corporate reputation, while green innovation had no significant effect. Corporate reputation also had no significant effect on financial performance and therefore did not mediate the relationship between sustainability reporting, green innovation, and financial performance. These findings indicate that the economic benefits of intentional practices have not been realized in the short term. Theoretically, this study enriches the literature on the limitations of performance as a mediating mechanism, while practically, companies need to improve the quality of implementation and communication practices to strengthen stakeholder trust and support long-term value creation.

Abstract

Al Mustaqim Islamic Boarding School has developed a quail egg farming business, but the students' competency in managing it is still limited, so a systematic training model is needed. This study aims to design, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of a quail egg farming training model based on student empowerment. The study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model and a descriptive quantitative approach. The sample was determined saturated, including 13 respondents at the needs analysis stage and 55 participants at the training implementation stage. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics percentages and the N-Gain test. The results of the needs analysis showed that the training was in the category of very needed (88.14%), supported by the readiness of facilities (76.92%) and the Islamic boarding school environment (85.90%). The developed training module was declared very feasible based on validation by material experts (77.27%) and media experts (97.91%). The training implementation resulted in increased knowledge (N-Gain 93.86%; effective category), skills (84.91%; effective), and attitudes (60.40%; quite effective), with the training model being rated as very good (89.43–94.09%). The developed training model was proven to be valid and effective in improving the competency of students, and can be an alternative empowerment program that supports the development of Islamic boarding school-based entrepreneurship and more sustainable business unit management.

Abstract

Industrial relations face increasingly complex challenges due to changing employment patterns, regulatory dynamics, and the increasing need for effective social dialogue mechanisms to maintain stable employment relations. Although studies on industrial relations continue to develop, comprehensive mapping of the relationship between social dialogue, government intervention, and industrial relations stability remains limited. This study aims to analyze the development of research themes, identify publication trends, and identify research gaps regarding the relationship between social dialogue, government intervention, and industrial relations stability through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Data were obtained from the Scopus database with a publication range of 2015–2025. Literature selection was carried out using the PRISMA stages, which include identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and inclusion, resulting in 20 articles meeting the analysis criteria. Furthermore, bibliometric mapping was conducted using VOSviewer. The results show that collective bargaining (23 occurrences), industrial relations (15 occurrences), and trade unions (11 occurrences) are the most dominant themes, while studies on local government are still relatively limited (4 occurrences). These findings indicate an opportunity for research development on the role of local governments in strengthening social dialogue and supporting the creation of adaptive and sustainable industrial relations.

Abstract

Pancasila, as the philosophical foundation of the state, serves as the normative foundation for governance in Indonesia. However, studies on Pancasila in governance are still dominated by normative discussions, while analyses linking Pancasila values ​​to good governance practices and the challenges of bureaucratic reform are still limited. This study aims to analyze the position and function of Pancasila as a grundnorm in building good governance and identify gaps between philosophical values ​​and their implementation in contemporary governance. The study uses a library research approach with descriptive-analytical methods and philosophical hermeneutics. The primary data sources are literature on Pancasila philosophy, laws and regulations, governance policy documents, and scientific articles discussing Pancasila and good governance. The analysis shows that Pancasila forms three main dimensions of governance: legitimacy of power, deliberation-based decision-making, and social justice orientation in public policy. The analysis also reveals a gap between the philosophical values ​​of Pancasila and governance practices, which are still oriented towards procedural compliance without substantive internalization of these values. This research offers a reconstruction of Pancasila as a public ethical framework through a conceptual model that integrates regulatory aspects, institutional capacity strengthening, and evaluation of social justice-based governance.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the emotional representation of the character Livia and analyze the language strategies used in the film Winter Elegy through psycholinguistic studies. The study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data in the form of Livia's speech containing emotional content were obtained through document study techniques and non-participant observation. The data were analyzed through stages of reduction, coding, classification based on Silvan S. Tomkins' basic emotion theory, then interpreted using Willem J. M. Levelt's speech production theory to reveal the relationship between emotions and language processes. The results show that from 31 speech data, four types of emotions were found, namely Interest/Excitement, Enjoyment, Surprise/Startle, and Distress/Anguish. Interest/Excitement and Surprise/Startle emotions dominate throughout the process of seeking truth, while Distress/Anguish reaches its peak at the stage of accepting loss. The most dominant language strategy is the articulation stage, followed by formulation, while conceptualization and self-monitoring appear in certain emotional situations. This research provides a scientific contribution by integrating Tomkins's theory of emotion and Levelt's speech production model to explain the relationship between affective aspects and linguistic processes in the representation of female characters in Indonesian films, thereby enriching psycholinguistic studies in the analysis of audiovisual works
