Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of accent on a second language and the impact of accent on second language listening comprehension. Utilizing an experimental approach, we collected data from the group of participants exposed to different accents in the context of teaching English as a second language. Data analysis methods involved evaluating listening comprehension through tests and interviews. The results indicate that specific accents can influence the level of listening comprehension, with significant implications for second language teaching and curriculum material development.

Abstract

In language learning. Language skills consist of four aspects, namely: listening skill, speaking skill, reading skill, and writing skill. Hasanah, N., & Munawaroh, S. (2023). The four aspects of language skills above should be mastered if someone wants to master a language well. The purpose of this study is to describe the opinions of students in watching English Movie as a medium for learning English, especially listening. Through unstructured interviews, twenty-six participants shared their perspectives on watching movies as an alternative medium for learning English. The results showed that three students had the same opinion that watching English movies could improve their ability to learn English, especially listening. They further said that they gained some new vocabulary after watching the movie.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive qualitative research with a strategic case study research strategy. This research was conducted at the AL-ITTIHADIYAH Senior High school. This research was conducted at AL-ITTIHADIYAH on how big the impact of podcasts is in improving students' listening skills. This research was conducted for two months starting in November to December 2023. Informants who are the source of data in this study are students of high school students at the same school. Secondary data in this study sourced from documents, including books, student assignments and researches.

Abstract

English is very important because, in this increasingly advanced era, English is used as more assessment to fulfill a requirement such as work, exams in school, and many other things to increase self value. The researchers chose to use qualitative methods by distributing questionnaires that also leverage the advances in Google Form. The results of research obtained prove that the use of Spotify helps students improve pronunciation. The study concluded that Spotify helped improve pronunciation through hearing aspects and new vocabulary that is easily stored in memory because it is presented through music and lyrics that are easily accessible. Spotify deserves to be considered one of the learning media with easy use and fun so that the learning process continues to evolve with results that also look good to help improve pronunciation as one of its most important aspects in English-speaking communication.

Abstract

Punctuation is one of the most important aspects of the English language. However, punctuation is often associated with writing ability alone, even though in fact punctuation also plays a big role in pronunciation ability. And this research is intended to discuss the relationship between punctuation and pronunciation ability. To find out whether they are related and what causes them to be related. This research was conducted using the interview method by asking participants' opinions regarding the relationship between punctuation and pronunciation skills. The author also uses qualitative descriptive research to provide a systematic and factual description of the topic under study. And the results of this research are expected to provide a more in-depth picture of punctuation marks in improving pronunciation abilities.
