Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of free educational websites in improving phonological awareness in young children. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, we analyzed several freely accessible platforms and their use in classroom and home learning settings. Findings show that websites such as Starfall, English Sound, and BBC Learning English contribute positively to children's sound recognition and phoneme segmentation. This study recommends the integration of such tools in the early language curriculum.

Abstract

This article explores the essential role of phonology in second language acquisition and highlights effective strategies for integrating phonological awareness into language learning processes. Phonology, which deals with the sound systems and patterns of language, is foundational for learners to develop accurate pronunciation, enhance listening comprehension, and communicate effectively in a new language. Drawing on a combination of recent research findings and practical classroom experiences, the article presents a variety of actionable techniques aimed at both educators and learners. These include methods for improving pronunciation accuracy, exercises to develop auditory discrimination skills, and activities designed to strengthen phonological memory. A strong emphasis is placed on adopting a learner-centered approach, where instruction is tailored to individual needs and learning styles, as well as the importance of contextualized practice that situates phonological skills within meaningful communication settings. By bridging the gap between theoretical insights and classroom application, the article provides accessible and effective tools that can be readily incorporated into language teaching curricula. Ultimately, the goal is to enhance overall language proficiency by fostering phonological competence, thereby supporting learners in overcoming common challenges related to sound perception and production in second language learning.

Abstract

This study explores the role of suprasegmental features, particularly intonation patterns, in English phonology. While segmental features like vowels and consonants have received extensive attention in linguistic research, suprasegmentals, including intonation, stress, rhythm, and pauses, are often less emphasized despite their critical role in shaping communication. Intonation, as a key suprasegmental feature, helps convey meaning, emotional tone, and grammatical structure in spoken English. This paper discusses how intonation patterns not only differentiate sentence types (e.g., statements vs. questions) but also express emotions and attitudes. Furthermore, it highlights the significance of understanding intonation in intercultural communication, where variations in pitch patterns can lead to misunderstandings. The paper concludes by emphasizing the need for further research on suprasegmentals and their application in language learning and speech technology.

Abstract

This study looks at the English sound system from a phonological standpoint, emphasizing successful teaching strategies and the difficulties non-native speakers have pronouncing words correctly. This study examines the effects of native language interference, identifies particular phonological challenges, and assesses instructional methods for improving pronunciation using qualitative research with fourth-semester English education students. The results show that although explicit phonetic teaching greatly helps pupils, they still struggle to manage spelling-pronunciation inconsistencies and discern vowel lengths. By offering insights into phonological learning processes and suggesting evidence-based teaching strategies, the research advances the field of applied linguistics. Although individual sound distinctions require tailored treatments, the results show that systematic pronunciation education improves student confidence and communicative skills.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of interactive learning models on the cognitive development of elementary school students. The study focuses on interactivity in learning and integrates a literature review to provide detailed insights into the relationship between interaction in learning and cognitive progress. The relationship between the use of interactive learning models and students' cognitive abilities was investigated using descriptive and critical analysis methods. The results indicate that interactive learning approaches strengthen the relationship between teachers and students, encourage active engagement, and enable deeper understanding. Furthermore, interaction in learning enhances students' problem-solving abilities, improves critical thinking skills, and broadens their conceptual understanding.
