Abstract

PT Akashi Wahana Indonesia is an automotive manufacturer that specializes in producing steering gear assemblies. The steering gear assembly process involves assembling the components of the steering gear into a single unit. A problem related to cycle time has been identified at a process position on the D74 steering gear assembly line. The cause of this issue is the manual shutter used to transfer assembly results between process positions, which requires manual intervention by operators, resulting in non-value-added time and unnecessary movement. The proposed solution to this problem is to design and development a PLC based semi-automatic reversible shutter conveyor. This shutter conveyor will serve as a material handling tool to change the transfer system between process positions. Operators can initiate the transfer to the next position by simply pressing the start button. The research methodology encompasses problem identification, literature review, design, production, and testing. The analysis includes calculations of stress and strain on the base slider, and percentage comparisons of material handling process time before and after improvement. Testing will be conducted through experiments on material handling process time. The result of this research is the implementation of a PLC-based semi-automatic reversible shutter conveyor in the D74 steering assembly line, which has achieved a 69.1% reduction in material handling process time.

Abstract

PT Nayati Indonesia merupakan perusahaan manufaktur dan perdagangan dibidang stainless steel yang menjual produk food service equipment. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menurunkan waktu proses, menurunkan produk NG, dan meningkatkan kenyamanan pada postur tubuh pekerja. Latar belakang dalam penelitian adalah pada proses roll bending masih menggunakan tenaga manusia untuk memutar spindle dalam pengerollannya, sehingga menyebabkan hasil radius atau benda kerja yang dirol memiliki ukuran yang tidak beraturan, waktu proses menjadi relatif lama sehingga masih kurang efektif dan efisien. Metode penelitian menggunakan Root Cause Analysis dan Sighley,s. Pengujian dilakukan menggunakan 3 parameter jenis plat dengan tebal 0,5 mm, 0,8 mm, dan 2 mm. Hasil penelitian mesin roll bending plat setelah dilakukan improvement memiliki penurunan waktu proses sebesar 54,54% untuk tebal plat 0,5 mm, 51,91 % untuk tebal plat 0,8 mm, serta 40,8 % untuk tebal plat 2 mm, menurunkan produk NG 46,73 % untuk tebal plat 0,5 mm, 23,37 % untuk tebal plat 0,8 mm, dan 6,67 % untuk tebal 2 mm, serta peningkatan terhadap kenyamanan pada postur tubuh pekerja sebesar 75% dari analisis menggunakan metode Rapid Entire Body Assestment.Kata kunci : Hasil Radius, Mesin Roll Bending Plat, Produk NG, Waktu Proses.

Abstract

This chopper machine is a machine used for slicing potatoes in the manufacture of chips. This machine is made to simplify the process of slicing potatoes. This machine is also equipped with a potato press and a machine housing cover. The planning process of engine manufacture begins with consideration of design alternatives which contain several design options to be considered, so that at the evaluation stage one of the best designs can be selected which is then developed towards the manufacture of all machine parts. This potato chopper machine is made using motor power calculations, shaft calculations, belt calculations, bearing calculations, peg calculations, and stretch calculations. This machine has dimensions of 600 mm × 400 mm × 1000 mm with a 0.25 HP electric motor drive. Setting the knife before using the machine to get the desired thickness of the sliced results, the use of material should be chosen stainless steel (stainless steel) to provide hygiene for food.

Abstract

The study investigates the phenomenon of vortex-induced vibration (VIV) using Large Eddy Simulation (LES) at a Reynolds number of 1000, focusing on transitional flow conditions. LES has proven effective in understanding VIV across Reynolds number regimes, aiding in comprehending flow physics and mechanisms behind VIV. The research aims to contribute data for validating numerical models and informing engineering practices. The study employs the Navier-Stokes equation and the continuity equation to analyze fluid flow, treating it as incompressible due to negligible density changes. The three-dimensional incompressible momentum equation is discretized using the finite volume method within the spatial domain. Resolution of the pressure Poisson equation ensures compliance with free divergence conditions, enhancing computational fluid dynamics simulations' reliability. Validation of the fluid flow solver involves comparing computed drag force coefficients with established benchmarks, showing agreement within small discrepancies. The study delves into vibration behavior induced by cross flow at various reduced velocities (), noting distinct patterns ranging from irregularities at low  to quasi-periodic behavior at higher values. Analysis of maximum cylinder displacement () across different reduced velocities and mass ratios underscores the complex relationship between system parameters and displacement dynamics. A consistent occurrence of y_max at a specific reduced velocity highlights its significance, while varying mass ratios affect displacement patterns, indicating the importance of understanding these dynamics for optimizing fluid-structure interaction systems.

Abstract

Mushroom growing media filler and compactor machine is a machine to print baglog as mushroom growing media. The problems that faced by mushrooms farmer is low productivity, with this tool farmers can increase the productivity of  mushroom filling and compaction baglog because the filling and compacting process use a pneumatic system.The method to manufacture mushroom growing media filler and compactor machine are the initial observations of the Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM). The development of electoral observation is form alternative designs, design, manufacturing, assembly  until the testing process and data retrieval. The results of design automation of filling and compaction of the mushroom  growing media using pneumatic system has a production capacity of 171baglog/hour by using a working pressure of 6 bar.

Abstract

Pengeringan merupakan salah satu metode pengawetan yang paling banyak digunakan untuk memperpanjang masa simpan produk pertanian, makanan, dan bahan lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan membangun alat pengering skala laboratorium yang inovatif dengan integrasi thermal energy storage (TES) berbasis phase change material (PCM) menggunakan paraffin wax sebagai media penyimpanan energi. Metode yang digunakan meliputi desain alat, perakitan, dan pengujian performa. Paraffin wax dipilih karena sifatnya yang mampu menyimpan dan melepaskan energi panas secara efisien pada rentang suhu pengeringan yang dibutuhkan. Penelitian ini secara khusus mengevaluasi kinerja termal dari alat pengering untuk mendapatkan karakteristik sistem berupa distribusi temperatur di ruang pengering, distribusi temperatur pada media TES, dan distribusi temperatur udara keluar alat pengering melalui cerobong. Hasil investigasi menunjukkan bahwa penambahan TES berbasis PCM paraffin wax mampu menjaga stabilitas temperatur di ruang pengering. Hal ini nantinya akan berdampak positif pada efisisensi sistem secara keseluruhan.

Abstract

The material cutting process can be done with a variety of mechanical power options that can be used, ranging from manual cutting methods that require manual skills, to semi-automatic and automatic cutting that utilize advanced technology to increase efficiency and accuracy. The process of cutting materials at PT Suri Tani Pemuka is still done manually, by relying on the skills of the workers' hands. The impact resulting from the manual cutting process is that the cutting results are not according to the standard size determined by the company, so that there are still many NG products found from the cutting process. Based on these problems, it is necessary to have a solution, namely by designing a screen cutting machine to increase cutting productivity. The methods used in this research include Identification of need, Definition of problem, Synthesis, Analysis and Optimization, Evaluation, and Presentation. The test was carried out to test the quality of the screen cut results. The results obtained from this study are screen cutting machines for cutting screen equipment with an increase in the percentage of successful screen cutting by 33.3% from 50% to 83.3%.

Abstract

This study aims to design and build a cabinet-type breadfruit chips dryer powered by liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and to assess the dryer's characteristics, particularly by observing the temperature and relative humidity (RH) variables in the drying chamber. This characteristic data is critical for forecasting the dryer's ability during drying. The experimental approach was carried out in three stages: design, assembly, and testing without a drying load under two process conditions, charging and discharging. The testing time is 150 minutes, with the charging procedure taking 70 minutes and the discharging process taking 80 minutes. In general, the distribution of temperature and RH on each shelf in the drying chamber is consistent, both during the charging and discharging processes. In the charging-discharging process, the average temperature of the drying room is 45.39 C with a RH of 40.99%, while the plenum room average temperature is 77.02 C.

Abstract

Sawdust briquettes molding machine is a machine for printing sawn briquettes as an alternative replacement for fossil fuels. The filling and compacting sawdust briquettes sawn using a pneumatic system that aims to improve the productivity of printing sawdust briquettes sawn still manually. With the printing press sawdust briquettes sawn with pneumatic system is expected to get a working process faster and lower error and operator convenience in the work process. The method is performed in the manufacture of printing machines sawdust briquettes sawn with pneumatic system is to conduct election observation in the form of alternative designs, design, manufacturing, assembly up until the testing process and data retrieval. Results of design scorer sawdust briquettes sawn with a pneumatic system using 8 bar working pressure that is with dimensions of 100 mm x 150 mm x 70 mm. Results from the manufacture of machinery sawdust briquettes sawn printer with a pneumatic system can be deduced briquette machine can print with a capacity of 600 briquettes per hour with a good and efficient time.
