Abstract

Elderly postoperative patients experience multidimensional discomfort affecting physical, psychological, social, and spiritual wellbeing. Kolcaba's Comfort Theory provides a holistic framework for addressing these needs. To identify comfort theory-based nursing interventions for elderly postoperative patients and analyze their effectiveness. Methods: Systematic literature review of articles from PubMed, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, and Google Scholar (2020-2025) using narrative synthesis. Ten studies demonstrated that comfort-based interventions including pain management, emotional support, non-pharmacological techniques, and environmental modifications significantly improved patient outcomes. Physical and psycho-spiritual dimensions were most influential, reducing pain, anxiety, and postoperative complications while enhancing sleep quality and satisfaction. Social and environmental dimensions provided crucial reinforcement. Nurse competency and family involvement supported implementation, while workload and limited resources posed challenges. Comfort theory-based interventions effectively enhance elderly postoperative recovery through holistic, multidimensional approaches. Integration into evidence-based practice is essential for optimal patient outcomes.

Abstract

Maimun Palace is a tourist destination included in Medan's cultural heritage sites and holds significant potential for supporting sustainable tourism. Therefore, the implementation of Good Tourism Governance (GTG) is crucial for the management, development, and preservation of this tourist destination. This study aims to analyze the extent to which the principles of GTG are implemented by the Medan City Tourism Office, in collaboration with the Sultan Ma'moen Al Rasyid Foundation, in managing the Maimun Palace cultural heritage site to achieve sustainable tourism. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data was collected through interviews with the Medan City Tourism Office, the Sultan Ma'moen Al Rasyid Foundation, business actors, tour guides, local communities, and tourists, as well as through observation and documentation. The data and information obtained were analyzed by researchers using Sunaryo's (2013) theory of Good Tourism Governance, which is relevant to the research problem. These ten principles include participation communities, stakeholders involvement, local ownership, resource sustainability, community aspirations, environmental carrying capacity, program monitoring & evaluation, environmental accountability, related community training, and publicity and advocacy of local cultural values are among these principles. Based on research conducted by researchers, the results show that the implementation of Good Tourism Governance at the Maimun Palace Cultural Heritage Site by the Medan City Tourism Office has been carried out, but not optimally. This can be seen from the limited community participation in economic aspects, weak coordination between stakeholders, and the need to improve the principles of environmental accountability and promotion of local culture. Therefore, there is a need to enhance cross-sector collaboration, community involvement in decision-making, and sustainable strategies covering economic, social, and environmental aspects. Implicitly, optimizing GTG principles is key to strengthening sustainable tourism governance in regional cultural heritage destinations.

Abstract

This study explores the relevance of Pentecostal ecclesiology in the digital era of Society 5.0, emphasizing the need for theological reflection on how technology reshapes church life, worship, and spiritual experience. The main objective is to analyze how Pentecostal theology, rooted in the experience of the Holy Spirit, can respond to the challenges of a hyperconnected society without losing its doctrinal integrity. Using a qualitative method with a theological literature review, this research synthesizes various sources discussing Pentecostal theology, digital ecclesiology, and the intersection between faith and technology. The findings reveal that Pentecostal ecclesiology must reinterpret its understanding of the church as a Spirit-driven community that transcends physical and digital boundaries. The study identifies opportunities for hybrid worship models, digital discipleship, and online spiritual communities, alongside challenges related to authenticity, sacramentality, and ethical digital engagement. Furthermore, it highlights the importance of Spirit-led discernment, digital literacy, and leadership transformation to sustain the church’s spiritual vitality amid technological disruption. The implication for further research is the development of contextual Pentecostal ecclesiology that integrates theological depth with technological adaptability, ensuring that digital innovation enhances rather than diminishes the communal and incarnational essence of the church

Abstract

This study examines the practice of doxing in Indonesia which is used as an instrument to silence activists and undermine digital freedom, as well as analyze the legal response through Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning Information and Electronic Technology (ITE Law) and Law Number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection (PDP Law). Doxing, which is the unauthorized publication of personal data for intimidation purposes, has created a serious chilling effect for critical voices. The cases against activists show that this threat is real and requires effective legal action to maintain civil security. The results of the analysis show that although Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning Information and Electronic Technology (ITE Law) and Law Number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection (PDP Law) have provided a legal basis, the regulation is inadequate because it does not specifically formulate doxing as a cybercrime, thus creating a legal loophole. The study concludes that this legal gap leads to ineffective law enforcement and inadequate protection for victims' rights to rehabilitation and compensation. Therefore, it is necessary to synchronize the law, improve the competence of the apparatus, and strengthen victim protection more comprehensively.

Abstract

Base on law number 22 of 2021 concerning oil and gas serves as the main legal framework for Indonesia’s oil and gas governance by separating upstream and downstream activities. This regulation was designed to establish a more transparent, efficient, and competitive system to encourage private sector participation and strengthen national energy security. This study aims to examine the regulation of downstream oil and gas activities, analyze Pertamina’s authority in the management of oil and gas, and assess the impact of the single-gate fuel import policy on Indonesia’s investment climate. The research employs a normative legal method by reviewing legislation, Constitutional Court rulings, and relevant legal as well as economic literature on energy. The findings reveal that downstream activities are regulated under a clear legal basis through the upstream-downstream separation, with oversight carried out by BPH Migas, which holds the authority to set policies, conduct supervision, and regulate distribution. Pertamina, as a state-owned enterprise, has been granted a special mandate to distribute subsidized fuel, with extended authority until 2027. However, the single-gate fuel import policy creates a dilemma: while it strengthens state control over national energy supply, it simultaneously reduces competition and discourages foreign investment due to its monopolistic tendencies. The study concludes that the effectiveness of this policy depends on balancing state control with market openness. Therefore, transparent oversight mechanisms and harmonization with fair competition principles are essential to create a just and sustainable oil and gas investment climate in Indonesia. As a recommendation, the government should strike a balance between national energy control, market openness, and transparent oversight mechanisms to ensure that the management of oil and gas resources is carried out in accordance with the mandate of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution, promoting justice and sustainability.

Abstract

Hypertension is a prevalent non-communicable disease in late adulthood that may impair quality of life due to prolonged psychological stress. This study aimed to examine the correlation between stress levels and quality of life among hypertensive patients in late adulthood at the Karangmalang Public Health Center. A quantitative observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 20 hypertensive patients aged 36-45 years, selected through purposive sampling. Stress levels were. Stress levels were measured using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), and quality of life was assessed using the WHOQOL-BREF instrument. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods with the Pearson correlation test. The result showed that most respondents experienced moderate stress (mean score = 16.4) and had a good quality of life (mean score = 95.25). Pearson’s analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between stress levels and quality of life (r = 0.624; p = 0.003). Moderate stress (eustress) was found to facilitate adaptive coping, enabling patients to maintain favorable well-being despite chronic illness. There is a asignificant relationship between stress level and quality of life in hypertensive adults. Moderate stress may serve an adaptive role, emphasizing the need for nursing interventions that integrate stress management and psychosocial support to enhance overall quality of life among hypertensive patients. The results of this study provide practical benefits for various parties. For the Puskesmas, they serve as a basis for strengthening promotive and preventive programs. For nurses, the findings can be used as a reference in providing holistic nursing care. For patients and the community, the study enhances understanding of the importance of stress management and social support in maintaining quality of life. Moreover, for researchers and educational institutions, these results can serve as a reference for further studies in community nursing.

Abstract

The welfare of neglected elderly individuals is a pressing social issue in Indonesia, particularly in regions where social protection systems remain limited. This issue has become a major concern in social services, especially within local government institutions. The Binjai Elderly Social Service Unit (UPTD Pelayanan Sosial Lanjut Usia Binjai) is one of the institutions responsible for providing protection and care for elderly individuals who are abandoned or have no family support. This study examines the strategies implemented by the Binjai Elderly Social Service Unit, which operates under the North Sumatra Provincial Social Service Office, in addressing the welfare of neglected elderly individuals. The analysis employs John M. Bryson’s (2008) strategic management framework, which consists of four key elements: input, strategic process, output, and outcome. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research was conducted through in depth interviews, direct observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the UPTD provides essential services such as shelter, food, healthcare, and spiritual support. However, several challenges persist, including limited funding, a shortage of caregivers, and the absence of permanent medical personnel. Although the strategic process has been carried out according to plan, its effectiveness is constrained by these resource limitations. The results of this study are expected to provide valuable insights for policy development and the improvement of social service quality for neglected elderly individuals through enhanced financial support, better facilities, and increased human resources, ultimately fostering a sustainable elderly welfare strategy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the meaning of the term hijrah in the Qur’an by tracing its semantic development from the period of Makkiyah verses, Madaniyyah verses, to its interpretation in the modern context. In Islamic scholarship, hijrah is not merely a physical migration, as exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad’s migration from Makkah to Madinah, but also represents moral, spiritual, and social transformation toward a better life. This research employs a normative-theological approach combined with linguistic and thematic exegesis analysis to explore the meaning of hijrah based on the historical context of revelation and its contemporary relevance. The findings reveal that in Makkiyah verses, such as Surah Al-Mudatsir (74:5), hijrah emphasizes a spiritual dimension, referring to the abandonment of sin and polytheism in favor of faith and purity. In contrast, Madaniyyah verses, such as Surah Al-Baqarah (2:218), portray hijrah as a physical act of migration for the sake of defending and spreading Islam. In the modern era, hijrah has evolved into a moral and symbolic concept reflecting one’s effort to transform behavior, lifestyle, and spirituality according to Islamic values. Therefore, this study concludes that hijrah is a dynamic concept that continuously adapts to temporal and social contexts while maintaining its core essence of transformation and devotion as taught in the Qur’an.

Abstract

Introduction: Fatigue is a common, persistent, and significant secondary symptom in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients undergoing Hemodialysis (HD) as renal replacement therapy. This symptom substantially lowers patients' quality of life and is an urgent nursing problem. Although conventional management is pharmacological, non-pharmacological complementary interventions are increasingly considered as safe and effective adjuvant therapies. Scientific evidence regarding the types and effectiveness of these interventions remains scattered. Objective: This study aims to explore and synthesize the literature on the types and effectiveness of complementary therapies used as interventions to reduce fatigue in CKD patients after hemodialysis procedures. Methods: This scoping review was conducted to map the available evidence from four databases (ScienceDirect, PubMed, Garuda, and Scholar). The inclusion criteria were original, full-text, open-access articles published in the last five years (2021–2025) discussing interventions to address post-HD fatigue. Articles that passed the screening were assessed for quality using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal Checklist. Data synthesis and analysis were performed to summarize the findings. Results: Five articles meeting the eligibility criteria were identified and synthesized. Complementary interventions proven effective in reducing post-HD fatigue include: Intradialytic Exercise, Relaxation Exercise, Foot Reflexology, smartphone-based Recreational Therapy, and a combination of Lavender Aromatherapy with Slow Deep Breathing. Intradialytic Exercise showed the highest effectiveness, with up to an 81% reduction in fatigue symptoms when performed aerobically (>20 minutes during the first 2 hours of the HD session). Relaxation Exercise also showed a huge effect size. The mechanisms of effectiveness for these interventions involve improved blood circulation, reduced stress and muscle tension, and improved energy balance. Conclusion: There is strong evidence for the effectiveness of various types of non-pharmacological complementary therapies as adjunct treatments in the management of fatigue in post-hemodialysis CKD patients. Integrating these interventions, particularly Intradialytic Exercise and Relaxation Exercise, is recommended to be included in routine nursing care protocols to enhance the quality of life for HD patients..

Abstract

The learning process in higher education requires contextual textbooks that are relevant and able to meaningfully adapt to the characteristics of students. However, at Musamus University, most teaching materials still rely on general textbooks from outside sources, which insufficiently represent the realities of local education in Papua. This research aims to produce a contextual-based Introduction to Education textbook tailored to the needs of Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) students at Musamus University. The study employed a Research and Development method with a quantitative approach through a quasi-experimental design. The development process encompassed needs analysis, product design, expert validation, limited trials, revision, and large-scale trials. Validation results indicated an average score of 84.5%, categorised as very good, thereby deeming the product suitable for use. Furthermore, the practicality of the limited trial obtained a student response score of 84% and an activity observation score of 90%. Subsequently, the effectiveness results demonstrated an improvement in pre-test–post-test scores by 21.25 points with an effect size of 2.69. The conclusion affirmed that the contextual-based Introduction to Education textbook is feasible and effective for use by PGSD students at Musamus University. Additionally, students evaluated positively the aspects of clarity, design appeal, integration of local content, and usefulness of practice exercises. Therefore, it is recommended that the study programme adopt this textbook into the official curriculum to promote more contextual learning. Moreover, lecturers should receive specific training to optimise the utilisation of the textbook. Finally, further research may extend the application of the textbook to other study programmes in order to achieve more comprehensive results.
