Abstract

The revolt of 1857 which is called the first war of independence is a foundational stone in the anti- colonial history of the subcontinent of India. However, the existing historiography primarily highlights the participation of male leaders and their military engagement, it does not sufficiently explore women's role and their multifaceted participation and specially Muslim women’s sacrifices recognised rarely. This paper describes the role of Muslim women in the First War of Independence of 1857 as political leaders, military participants, organisers, motivators, and martyrs. Muslim women belonging to different social backgrounds, such as royal households, aristocratic families, the middle class, and marginalised groups, and living in diverse regions made significant contributions to the resistance against the British.Their involvement was not only symbolic support, but they also directly participated in governance, battlefield engagements, troop mobilization, intelligence gathering, and logistical coordination. This paper exposes the sacrifices of Muslim women, which have been ignored over time and not mentioned by most historians. The study seeks to restore women to their rightful place in the historical understanding of the 1857 uprising and to highlight their enduring legacy in the history of resistance and freedom.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has transformed consumer behavior, including that of students, in online shopping. One of the factors influencing purchasing decisions is online reviews and ratings on marketplace platforms. This study aims to understand the perceptions of students from the Faculty of Islamic Studies at Universitas Trunojoyo Madura (UTM) regarding online reviews and ratings in building trust when shopping on Shopee. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations of students who are active Shopee shoppers. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions to identify patterns of student perceptions. The findings reveal that students view online reviews and ratings as important and credible sources of information in evaluating products and sellers on Shopee. Positive reviews and ratings build a sense of security and enhance students’ trust in making transactions, while negative reviews trigger greater caution in shopping. These findings indicate that the quality of information in reviews and ratings plays a significant role in shaping consumer trust, particularly among students engaging in online shopping.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of dance extracurricular activities as a means of developing multicultural attitudes in students. Dance activities are viewed as a learning space that not only develops artistic skills but also instills values of diversity through interaction, collaboration, and appreciation for different cultures. The research method used was descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that dance extracurricular activities can be an effective medium for developing multicultural attitudes in students, such as tolerance, mutual respect, and openness to cultural differences. Dance practice activities involving various dances from different regions familiarize students with viewing diversity as a positive thing. Furthermore, the process of working together in groups strengthens a sense of togetherness and empathy among students. Thus, dance extracurricular activities play a vital role in supporting the development of multicultural character needed in both the school environment and society.
