Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of hazardous (B3) and non-hazardous (Non-B3) waste management at Tanjung Priok Port through the implementation of Reception Facilities (RF) to support the Green Port initiative. Although the RF infrastructure complies with the Ministerial Regulation of Environment (Permen LH) No. 05 of 2009, Article 5, its utilization remains significantly low at only 0.27%. This inefficiency is attributed to high operational costs, limited awareness among ship operators, and insufficient waste processing capacity. Waste composition is dominated by hazardous materials such as used lubricant oil, sludge oil, and solid oil slop, while non-hazardous waste includes domestic, plastic, and organic waste. Furthermore, only 52% of personnel are adequately trained in waste management practices, highlighting a critical human resource gap. Used SWOT analysis, the strategic position of the RF system falls within the Strength–Threat (S–T) quadrant, indicating the need for a defensive diversification strategy. This strategy emphasizes leveraging existing infrastructure and regulatory compliance to address external challenges such as policy enforcement and operational constraints. The findings suggest improving RF utilization through cost reduction, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building will enhance the port’s environmental performance. This study contributes to the broader implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 6 (clean water and sanitation), 12 (responsible consumption and production), and 14 (life below water), offering a replicable framework for other ports in Indonesia and globally.

Abstract

Nigeria faces a significant energy access deficit, with rural communities disproportionately affected by unreliable or non-existent electricity supply. In response, the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) was established to bridge the power access gap through initiatives such as solar Mini-Grids and standalone home systems. This study investigates the impact of REA’s interventions in four rural communities in Kogi East; Ikem Ogugu, Ugbedomagwu, Ejule, Ala, and Agojeju-Odo; between 2015 and 2025. The research evaluates the extent to which these interventions have improved electricity access, reliability, and quality, while also examining the challenges hindering project effectiveness. Employing both quantitative and qualitative methods, the findings reveal a moderate but uneven improvement in electricity delivery and socio-economic conditions across the communities. Specifically, the study provided recommendations such as strengthen community involvement in implementation and maintenance, expand beyond residential connections to productive uses, improve energy reliability through hybrid systems and maintenance support, enhance security infrastructure alongside electrification projects, institute performance monitoring systems for rural electrification projects, prioritize policy alignment and decentralized planning.

Abstract

Ergonomic issues have a significant impact on health services, especially on nursing services. Various types of nursing work are done manually. Ergonomic risk factors include physical conditions (work posture, physical workload), psychosocial and individual (age, gender and Body Mass Index) (NIOSH, 2024). The purpose of this study was to analyze ergonomic risk factors for complaints of Low Back Pain and Tension Neck Syndrome in nurses at Maria Walanda Maramis Hospital, North Minahasa Regency. This study is a quantitative study with an observational research type, namely analytical using a cross-sectional study design (a cross-sectional study conducted at the Maria Walanda Maramis Regional General Hospital, North Minahasa Regency. Data analysis was carried out using univariate which explains the frequency distribution of research variables, bivariate analysis using the Spearman Rank and Chi-Square tests and multivariate analysis using the Multiple Logistic Regression test. The results of this study indicate that 130 nurses became respondents, where the average age of respondents was 31 years and most of them were female (75.4%). Low Back Pain complaints at low and moderate risk levels were experienced by 65 respondents (50%) each, and Tension Neck Syndrome complaints at low risk levels were 60 respondents (46.2%) and high risk levels were 70 respondents (53.8%). There is a relationship between Low Back Pain and gender (p=0.015), Body Mass Index (p<0.001), work posture (p<0.001), workload (p=0.015), and psychosocial (p<0.001) and there is no relationship between age and Low Back Pain (p=0.391). There is a relationship between Tension Neck Syndrome with, gender (p=0.018), Body Mass Index (p<0.001), work posture (p<0.001), workload (p=0.032), psychosocial (p<0.001) and there is no relationship between age and Tension Neck Syndrome (p=0.455). The results of the multivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between Low Back Pain with Body Mass Index (p=0.002), work posture (p<0.001), workload (p= 0.180), psychosocial (p= 0.001) where work posture is the most dominant among all variables with an Exp(B) value of 13.912, meaning respondents with poor work posture are 13.9 times more at risk of experiencing Low Back Pain. And there is a relationship between Tension Neck Syndrome with Body Mass Index (p = 0.007) and psychosocial (p = 0.000) where the psychosocial variable is the most dominant variable with an Exp (B) value of 6.267 which means that respondents with poor psychosocial are 6.2 times more at risk of experiencing Tension Neck Syndrome. The conclusion of this study is that age, gender, Body Mass Index, work posture, workload and psychosocial are important factors that have a relationship with complaints of Low Back Pain and Tension Neck Syndrome. Especially the dominant factor that affects Low Back Pain is work posture and the dominant variable that affects Tension Neck Syndrome is psychosocial.

Abstract

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic epidemic, lockdown has badly impacted and negatively affected the majority of businesses in Malaysia. It had a big impact on the fashion business, especially at H&M. Due to its fashion knowledge and trend spotting abilities, it is one of the largest and fastest growing fashion clothing firms in the world. It is also a fashion brand that millennials find to be highly appealing. It exposed every flaw in the widely-applied conventional business models, particularly those that placed a strong emphasis on the "quick fashion" idea. When considering the unique attributes at the fundamental of the fast fashion business model, such as excessive production waste and the organisational disposal of wastes, which were constrainedly connected with an abundance of supply, the impact on this industry with a highly globalised supply chain was important from an industrial and economic output perspective. Due to their upbringing in an environment where brands and marketing are prevalent, millennials are significantly more brand sensitive and materialistic. The majority of millennials interact with social media platforms often and are receptive to its impact. The quick growth of the social media sector is affecting consumers' purchasing intentions. The goal of this study is to better understand the social media presence-building strategies that brands might use, as well as how these strategies may directly influence millennials' likelihood to buy throughout Coivd-19. In order to discover trends and formulate expectations, this study uses quantitative approaches to collect and analyse data. Descriptive statistics, the Pearson Correlation Coefficient, and stepwise multiple linear regression analysis will all be used in the analysis, which will be done using a questionnaire. In this study, the purpose was evaluated using a total of five elements, including information sharing, trustworthiness, expertise, entertainment, and electronic word of-mouth (eWOM).

Abstract

State legal policy reflects the state's interest in securing national objectives through norms that are enacted, implemented, and enforced for the welfare of citizens, state institutions, and all related entities. Article 1, paragraph (3) of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia defines Indonesia as a "state of law," which includes both written and unwritten norms. Among these, laws are created by legislative and executive institutions to regulate state affairs. The hierarchy of regulations places the MPR Decree below the Law, with the Constitution as the highest authority. This study explores the gap in the construction of laws and regulations, focusing on the concept of "Faction," which appears in various laws but not in the Constitution. Through qualitative descriptive analysis and a normative legal approach, this research examines the implications of the 4% national vote threshold for political parties in the General Election, as it relates to the term "Faction" in the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR). This study advocates for the removal of the "Faction" provisions, suggesting that even a single-member political party should not be hindered by the threshold. It proposes that the Constitutional Court could amend laws containing the term "Faction" or incorporate it into the Constitution to ensure greater inclusivity in the legislative process. The findings suggest a need for constitutional amendment to align legislative practices with democratic principles.

Abstract

The Industry 4.0 era, marked by advances in information technology and digitalization, has fundamentally transformed the patterns of industrial relations in Indonesia. One significantly affected aspect is the practice of strikes as a form of collective worker action to demand rights and justice. Whereas strikes were previously associated with physical actions carried out directly at the workplace, digital forms of strikes have now emerged such as mass logouts, deactivating work application accounts, and mobilizing protests through social media. This transformation presents new challenges in regulation, implementation, and legal protection. Existing legal instruments, such as Law Number 13 of 2003 on Manpower and its implementing regulations, have yet to fully accommodate the dynamics of digitally-based strikes. This gap creates the potential for a legal vacuum and uncertainty in the enforcement of both workers’ rights and employers’ obligations. This article aims to analyze the legal dynamics of strikes in the digital era, focusing on the adequacy of the current normative framework, identifying regulatory gaps, and proposing necessary legal reforms. Using a normative approach and case studies particularly regarding strikes by online motorcycle taxi drivers in Indonesia this paper recommends the formulation of more responsive and inclusive regulations for non-conventional strike forms. This study is expected to offer both academic and practical contributions toward creating a labor law system that is adaptive, fair, and capable of ensuring a balance of interests between workers and employers in the digital age.

Abstract

Transnational financial crimes that jeopardize national security and the stability of the financial system include money laundering and financing terrorism. Although Indonesia has a comprehensive legal framework, such as Law No. 8 of 2010 and Law No. 9 of 2013, practices on the ground show that there are still gaps in the implementation of regulations that affect the effectiveness of financial institutions in carrying out their supervisory functions. This study aims to analyze the extent to which regulatory gaps affect the performance of financial institutions, as well as to formulate strategies that can be applied to strengthen their authority in dealing with evolving financial crime methods, including through cryptocurrency and financial technology. Using a normative juridical method with a legislative and conceptual approach, data is analyzed from existing regulations, legal literature, and related policies. The results of the analysis indicate that regulatory harmonization, the utilization of supervisory technologies, and enhanced inter-institutional coordination are the main strategies to strengthen the money laundering and terrorism financing prevention system in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the interpretative fallacies surrounding mens rea in Indonesia’s criminal justice system. Disparities in the interpretation of intentionality (opzet) by law enforcement officials and judges often result in significant inconsistencies in legal outcomes. Using a qualitative library research method with legal hermeneutics and critical discourse analysis, this study investigates 150 court decisions from 2020 to 2023 to identify structural and cultural causes of these inconsistencies. The findings reveal that 68% of verdicts contained ambiguity in the construction of mens rea, mainly due to outdated legal frameworks, limited interdisciplinary education, and external pressures. To address this, the study proposes an interdisciplinary reconstruction of the concept of intentionality that integrates insights from cognitive psychology with criminal law doctrine. This includes the development of a nuanced intentionality spectrum and practical tools such as the Intentionality Assessment Protocol (IAP). The findings highlight the complexity of mens rea interpretations within the Indonesian legal system, with substantial variations in judicial decisions. The study proposes a new conceptual framework based on cognitive psychology to bridge gaps in understanding intentionality. Further recommendations for reform include the development of legal education and training systems for law enforcement.
