Abstract

This study aims to develop a Social Skills assessment instrument for sixth-grade elementary school students and to examine its validity. The initial instrument consists of 18 items covering six indicators: communication skills, emotional control, social sensitivity, social expressiveness, social control, and physical appearance. Content validity was evaluated by four validators using Aiken’s V method, with item mean scores ranging from 3.857 to 4.0 and low standard deviations, indicating high consistency in assessment. The Content Validity Index (CVI) for all items was above 0.976, with several items reaching the maximum value of 1, confirming that all items are content-valid. Furthermore, empirical validity testing involving 48 students showed that 11 of the 18 items met the validity criteria (r ≥ 0.284), while seven items did not. These results indicate that most items correlate adequately with the total score and can reliably measure students’ social skills. The successful results from both content and empirical validity tests provide a strong foundation for further instrument development, including reliability testing, ensuring that the final instrument is a valid, practical, and reliable tool for assessing social skills in elementary school students.

Abstract

Ensuring children with disabilities' nutritional rights is an important part of supporting the success of the educational process, as good nutrition affects students' physical, cognitive, and emotional development. Fulfilling basic needs from an Islamic Education perspective, such as nutritious food, is a manifestation of the implementation of the values of rahmah (compassion), justice, and social responsibility towards vulnerable groups. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Free Nutritional Meal Program (MBG) in fulfilling the nutritional rights of children with disabilities from an Islamic Education perspective at SLB PSM Takeran, Magetan Regency. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of the principal, 11 teachers, and 65 students. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the MBG Program, implemented since January 2026, is running well and has a positive impact on the fulfilment of the nutritional rights of students with disabilities. Students show high enthusiasm, happiness, and increased attendance at school. This program also reflects Islamic educational values such as compassion, justice, and nurturing the soul (hifẓ al-nafs), although challenges remain in menu adjustments and student support. The Free Nutritious Meal Program serves not only as an intervention to meet nutritional needs but also as a concrete implementation of inclusive and humanistic Islamic education. Therefore, strengthening policies, facilities, and support is necessary for the program to run optimally and sustainably.

Abstract

Students’ reluctance to answer teachers’ questions remains a significant barrier to fostering active learning in elementary schools. This study aims to describe the forms and contributing factors of students’ reluctance to answer teachers’ questions and to analyze this phenomenon as a challenge in implementing the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children (7 Kebiasaan Anak Indonesia Hebat) program. Employing a qualitative case study approach, this research was conducted at a public elementary school in Malang Regency. Data were collected through observations and interviews involving classroom teachers and students. The findings indicate that students’ reluctance is manifested in several behaviors, including remaining silent, looking down, avoiding eye contact, pointing to other students, and responding in a very soft voice. The factors contributing to this reluctance include internal factors, such as low self-confidence, shyness, and fear of making mistakes, as well as external factors, particularly an unsupportive classroom environment and learning practices that do not facilitate equitable student participation. This reluctance presents a challenge to the implementation of the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children program because it may hinder the development of students’ self-confidence, responsibility, courage, and communication skills. The study concludes that students’ reluctance to respond to teachers’ questions can hinder the optimal development of active and confident character. Therefore, teachers need to establish a supportive and comfortable learning environment, provide appreciation for students’ responses, and implement interactive learning strategies to encourage students to participate more actively.

Abstract

This research seeks to articulate and analyze how digital learning innovations are applied in both urban and rural primary schools. The focus of the study includes the execution of curriculum, teaching models, the integration of educational technology, the utilization of digital educational resources, evaluation systems, and the obstacles encountered throughout the learning experience. A descriptive qualitative methodology was adopted for this study, utilizing techniques such as observations, interviews, and the analysis of documents for data gathering. Results indicate that both types of schools embraced student-centered educational methods through the Merdeka Curriculum. Urban primary schools demonstrated a greater incorporation of educational technology, such as smart televisions, digital tools, project-based learning, and interactive digital resources. On the other hand, rural primary schools made the most of contextual educational methods and local resources, despite constraints in technological tools. Additionally, the research highlighted the significant role of teachers’ creativity and innovative practices in enhancing the quality of learning, even when faced with infrastructural challenges. These results underscore the necessity of digital learning innovations, the ability of teachers to adapt, and inclusive educational methodologies in elevating the standards of elementary education. Consequently, it is imperative to enhance digital literacy, improve access to educational technology, and invest in teacher professional growth to foster equitable and innovative elementary education.
