Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of education and training in improving employee competence in regional banking institutions. The approach used is qualitative with a type of library research. Data were collected through documentation studies from various sources, such as official reports of PT. BPR Bank Jombang Perseroda, scientific journals, books, and other relevant publications. Data analysis techniques were carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that education and training have a very important role in improving employee competence, which includes three main aspects: knowledge, technical skills, and work attitudes. The training program "Building a Healthy Financial Ecosystem" organized by Bank Jombang proved to provide new insights into credit management, risk mitigation, and banking product innovation. Training methods based on simulation, group discussions, and case studies allow employees to directly practice the skills learned. In addition, training also encourages the formation of more adaptive, disciplined, and motivated work attitudes in facing the era of banking digitalization. This study also found that improving employee competence has a direct impact on organizational performance, as reflected in the increase in total assets, credit growth, profit before tax, as well as contributions to the Regional Original Revenue of Jombang Regency. The synergy between Bank Jombang and Perbarindo and various universities also strengthens the sustainable human resource development ecosystem. This study concludes that investment in education and training is a long-term strategy that must be continuously carried out by regional banking institutions to improve competitiveness and the quality of public services. Future research is recommended to conduct direct observation or a mixed methods approach to capture the process of competency change more deeply.

Abstract

The implementation of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) instruction in the Merdeka Curriculum requires teachers to be prepared to understand the characteristics of the instruction, plan teaching materials, conduct lessons, and overcome various challenges during the implementation process. This study aims to describe teachers’ readiness to implement IPAS instruction under the Merdeka Curriculum at SDN Bendo 1 Blitar City. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, involving fourth-grade teachers as research informants. Data validity was verified through triangulation of methods, while data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that teachers possess a fairly good level of initial readiness to implement IPAS-based learning, as demonstrated by their understanding of Learning Outcomes (CP), Learning Objective Sequences (ATP), and teaching modules, as well as their ability to apply contextual learning that actively engages students. Teachers also utilize technology and professional communities as sources of support in preparing lessons. However, the implementation of IPAS instruction still faces several challenges, particularly in integrating science and social studies content, developing teaching materials independently, implementing authentic assessments, accommodating the diversity of student characteristics, and optimizing learning resources. Thus, while teachers’ readiness to implement IPAS instruction has improved, it still requires the strengthening of pedagogical and professional competencies, as well as ongoing support from schools, to ensure that the implementation of IPAS instruction under the Merdeka Curriculum can proceed optimally.

Abstract

Interactive learning media that can increase student engagement is a fundamental need in the science learning process in elementary schools. A needs analysis conducted at SDN Bokor and SD 2 Jeru revealed that the majority of students, ranging from 78% to 86% stll experience difficulties in understanding plant material. In contrast, all students who responded expressed enthusiasm for the concept of learning through games, even though none had experienced it directly in teaching and learning activities. Departing from this condition, this research focused on the development of a game based media called Plant Error Monopoly to support the learning of plant material in grade IV of elementary school. The development process refers to Research and Development (R&D)approach by applying the ADDIE model as its framework, which consists of five systematic phases needs analysis, concept design, product development, field implementation, and final evaluation. Various data collection techniques were used, including interviews, direct observation, questionnaire distribution, and tests to measure students’ conceptual understanding. The resulting product received a very valid assessment from two experts, namely 99% for the media side and 92% for the material side. The level of practicality of this media is also quite high, reflected in teacher responses reaching 94% and 89%. In terms of understanding improvement, the N-Gain calculation results show a figure of 0,53 for the small scale and 0,51 for the large scale, both of which fall into the moderate improvement classification. Based on these overall results, Plant Error Monopoly is considered a suitable media choice for science learning in elementary schools..

Abstract

The reading comprehension ability of elementary school students is still relatively low, including in fourth grade students in one of the public elementary schools in Bandung Regency, West Java, most of whom have not yet achieved the criteria for achieving learning objectives. This study aims to describe the learning process and determine the improvement in fourth grade elementary school students’ reading comprehension ability through the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) cooperative learning model assisted by interactive E-Book media. The method used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental approach in the form of a non-equivalent control group design, involving 60 students divided into an experimental class (CIRC model assisted by interactive E-Book) and a control class (conventional learning). The learning process in the experimental class follows the syntax of the CIRC model assisted by interactive E-Book, while the control class uses conventional learning with the lecture method; both show an increase in teacher and student activity at each meeting, with a higher increase in the experimental class. Data were collected through tests (pretest-posttest) and analyzed using the N-Gain calculation. The results of the study showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class (82.50) was higher than that of the control class (74.67). The N-Gain results showed that the increase in reading comprehension ability of the experimental class (0.53 or 53.47%, medium category) was higher than that of the control class (0.41 or 40.79%, medium category). These findings indicate that the CIRC model assisted by interactive E-Book media provides a better increase in reading comprehension ability compared to conventional learning in fourth grade elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine building maintenance risk management to ensure the continuity of training services at the Malang City Education and Culture Office. A qualitative approach with a case study design was used in the research procedure. Semi-structured in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation were used as data collection methods. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion formulation, using source triangulation to ensure data validity. The research findings show that building maintenance risk management occurs in four stages: planning, which involves creating an asset inventory and setting maintenance priorities based on the budget; organization, which involves collaboration between the asset management team and the technical team; implementation, which includes routine inspections, repairs, and emergency procedures; and monitoring and evaluation, which includes annual performance reviews. The main problems are the absence of a separate risk management unit and the lack of a database that systematically records damage history. In conclusion, building maintenance risk management needs to be improved by forming a structured risk management team and a risk-based maintenance information system. This will help ensure that training services are available in the long term.

Abstract

This article presents the results of a bibliometric study that used the Scopus database as its primary data source to examine research trends in project-based learning (PBL) within pre-service teacher education from 2016 to 2026. After 222 publications were found in the first search, 120 relevant journal articles written in English were chosen using the PRISMA 2020 parameters. Metadata including publication year, authors, affiliations, journals, countries, keywords, and citation trends were examined using bibliometric software. The study aimed to map publication productivity, highlight the most influential journals and articles, uncover thematic structures, and visualise collaboration networks among authors, institutions, and countries. The results indicate an annual growth rate of 18.22% and an average of 10.43 citations per article, suggesting that PBL in pre- service teacher education is an expanding field with strong scientific impact. Dominant keywords include project-based learning, pre-service teachers, teacher education, teacher training, and STEM, closely linked to critical thinking, creativity, digital literacy, and education for sustainable developmentCommon threads indicate that TPACK and the 21st-century skills framework support PBL in teacher education, which in turn is based on experiential and constructivist learning theories. Although connections between research clusters are still very disjointed, the cooperation network highlights the significant role that Indonesia and a few other nations play as productivity centers. In sum, the results provide a complex picture of the conceptual, thematic, and collaborative environment of project-based learning (PBL) studies involving pre-service teachers and suggest avenues for further study in the areas of social justice, the social sciences, and education sustainability.

Abstract

Educators and policymakers prioritize mathematical problem solving and numeracy in contemporary mathematics education. This systematic literature review investigates how instructional strategies, technological interventions, and internal cognitive factors influence students' mathematical problem solving and numeracy skills. The researcher applied the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines to conduct the study. The researcher extracted 30 primary empirical journal articles published between August 2016 and August 2026 from the Scopus database using strict Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcomes, and Study Design (PICOS) criteria. The findings indicate that interactive digital tools, such as GeoGebra and educational artificial intelligence, transform procedural learning into conceptual understanding. Furthermore, contextual pedagogical frameworks, including ethnomathematics and the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Educational Neuroscience teaching model, successfully connect abstract mathematical concepts directly to real-world applications. The synthesis reveals that robust working memory, high mathematical self-efficacy, and strong reading comprehension directly improve students' ability to solve complex word problems. Additionally, targeted digital programs and virtual interaction units effectively accommodate the specific cognitive needs of students with intellectual disabilities and neurological conditions. The review provides a comprehensive framework for educators to evaluate students' internal psychological variables and integrate tailored digital interventions to optimize mathematics instruction.

Abstract

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) has emerged as a strategic educational paradigm to address increasingly complex global challenges, including environmental degradation, cultural homogenization, declining social cohesion, and weakening nationalism among younger generations. While ESD has been widely implemented across many countries, its integration with local wisdom and indigenous cultural values remains fragmented, particularly in developing countries. This article aims to develop a conceptual framework explaining how Education for Sustainable Development contributes to preserving cultural heritage while simultaneously strengthening nationalism, social responsibility, and preference for locally produced goods rooted in local wisdom. This study employs a qualitative literature review methodology. Relevant literature was systematically selected from international peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, and SpringerLink. The analysis integrates theories of Education for Sustainable Development, Cultural Capital, Social Learning Theory, Ecological Systems Theory, Transformative Learning, Character Education, Place-Based Education, and Cultural Sustainability. Comparative analysis and conceptual synthesis were conducted to identify causal relationships between educational processes, cultural inheritance, character development, and sustainable societal transformation. The study demonstrates that Education for Sustainable Development becomes significantly more transformative when embedded within local wisdom. Such integration strengthens cultural identity, reinforces intergenerational transmission of indigenous knowledge, cultivates nationalism through appreciation of domestic products, promotes responsible citizenship, and enhances social solidarity. The proposed conceptual model emphasizes that sustainable education is not limited to environmental literacy but also functions as a cultural ecosystem fostering resilient communities capable of preserving local identity while engaging constructively with globalization. Future educational policies should therefore prioritize culturally responsive ESD to ensure sustainable development that simultaneously conserves cultural diversity and strengthens national resilience.

Abstract

Teaching Natural Teaching Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) in elementary school requires instructional strategies that can encourage student engagement while supporting their understanding of the material being studied. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning strategy in supporting student engagement and understanding of IPAS among third-grade students at SDN 2 Kepanjenlor. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, involving third- grade teachers and students as sources of information. Data validity was verified through triangulation of techniques and sources, while data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that STAD-type cooperative learning was implemented through the presentation of material, the formation of heterogeneous groups, group discussion and collaboration activities, the presentation of discussion results, and the provision of evaluations and rewards. The application of this learning method provided opportunities for students to actively engage, discuss, exchange opinions, and help one another in understanding the IPAS material. The results of observations and interviews also showed that students responded positively to group learning activities and demonstrated greater engagement during the learning process. Thus, the implementation of STAD-type cooperative learning can serve as an alternative learning strategy that supports student activity, interaction, and understanding in IPAS learning in elementary school.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Field Work Practice (PKL) program in managing the placement of interns at PT. Aristek Highpolymer, focusing on participant eligibility requirements, pre-practice preparation, on-site implementation, outcomes achieved, and participants’ impressions of the industrial world. This study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive method through data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results indicate that PKL participants generally demonstrated good preparedness prior to the program through fulfillment of pre-PKL requirements and guidance from academic advisors and field supervisors. During the program, participants were actively engaged in various work activities and responsibilities, thereby gaining hands-on experience that enhanced both their technical competencies and soft skills. Nevertheless, there were still instances of mismatches between placement assignments and participants’ fields of expertise, which hindered the optimal development of specific competencies. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the placement system and strengthen guidance through collaboration between educational institutions and industry partners to ensure that the implementation of the internship program is more effective and relevant to the needs of the workforce.
