Abstract

Climate change poses one of the most pressing challenges of the 21st century, requiring innovative financing mechanisms to support global mitigation and adaptation efforts. This study examines green sukuk as an Islamic financial instrument that integrates environmental sustainability with Shariah-compliant principles, offering a viable pathway for financing climate action in Muslim-majority countries. The research employs a qualitative approach through systematic literature review and case study analysis of green sukuk issuances in Malaysia, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates from 2017 to 2025. Data were collected from regulatory documents, financial reports, and academic publications, analyzed using thematic content analysis. Findings reveal that green sukuk successfully mobilize capital for renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure, and climate resilience projects while adhering to maqasid al-shariah principles of environmental stewardship (hifz al-bi’ah). The study identifies three critical success factors: robust regulatory frameworks, standardized green certification processes, and stakeholder engagement mechanisms. Despite challenges including limited market awareness and standardization gaps, green sukuk demonstrate significant potential in bridging the climate finance gap. This research contributes to the emerging discourse on Islamic sustainable finance and provides policy recommendations for expanding green sukuk markets globally.

Abstract

This study examines the role of English language education in shaping social media–based marketing strategies within the context of global trends. In the era of digital globalization, English has become a strategic competence that influences how brands communicate, construct identities, and engage audiences across borders. The purpose of this research is to explore how English language proficiency, acquired through formal and informal education, is utilized by digital marketers in designing content, narratives, and interactions on social media platforms. This study employs a qualitative approach using digital ethnography, with data collected through online observations, in-depth interviews, and analysis of social media content across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. The findings reveal that English language education plays a significant role not only as a communication tool but also as a cultural and symbolic resource that enhances brand credibility, global appeal, and trend alignment. The study concludes that English language education contributes strategically to contemporary marketing management by enabling marketers to adapt to global trends while maintaining local relevance, highlighting the need for integrative language education aligned with digital marketing practices.

Abstract

Zakat is a core instrument of Islamic social finance intended to alleviate poverty and promote equitable wealth redistribution. Despite growing institutionalisation and technological advancement in zakat management, evidence on its long-term effectiveness in poverty alleviation remains fragmented. This study synthesises over 15 years of empirical zakat research conducted across different socio-economic contexts to consolidate cumulative evidence on zakat’s role in reducing poverty incidence, depth, and severity. Adopting a qualitative content analysis of empirical studies, the research examines methodological approaches, poverty measurement techniques, and institutional factors shaping zakat outcomes. The findings indicate that zakat consistently alleviates short-term poverty, particularly through income and consumption support; however, its sustained impact is constrained by limitations in targeting accuracy, governance capacity, and reliance on conventional income-based poverty measures. The study highlights a methodological shift toward zakat-based poverty thresholds, such as had kifayah, which better capture household needs and cost-of-living realities. By integrating empirical findings with long-term research experience, this study advances an evidence-based perspective on strengthening zakat governance, measurement, and strategic allocation for sustainable poverty alleviation
