Abstract

English has become an essential skill in the era of globalization and digital transformation. Early exposure to English is therefore considered a strategic step in preparing younger generations to face global challenges. This article reports a community service program that provided English learning guidance for children through a community-based approach. The program, entitled SMART Talk, was conducted by lecturers and students of the English Education Department at Universitas KH. Mukhtar Syafa’at (UIMSYA) as a form of educational social contribution. It was implemented in Karangdoro Village, Banyuwangi, over three months (November 2025–January 2026) with four meetings per week. The findings showed positive outcomes. Students developed more positive attitudes toward English learning, demonstrated by punctual attendance, active participation, and responsibility in completing tasks. Their motivation increased as they showed enthusiasm and willingness to engage in activities. The friendly atmosphere also reduced English anxiety, enabling students to speak more confidently. In addition, students’ vocabulary mastery and basic speaking ability improved, as they were able to recall expressions, construct simple sentences, and perform short dialogues. The program indicates that community-based learning effectively supports English learning in rural contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the transformation of Islamic ethics (Akhlaq) from the individual realm to a strategic framework in building inclusive and sustainable social resilience. Amidst global challenges such as social polarization, economic inequality, and ecological crises, Islamic values offer a solution paradigm through the principle of Rahmatan lil 'Alamin . Using descriptive research methods and the Maqasid al-Shari'ah approach , this study analyzes how the concepts of justice ('Adl), moderation (Wasathiyah), and ecological responsibility (Khalifah) are implemented in the structure of modern society. The results show that Islamic ethics functions as social capital that strengthens intergroup cohesion through the recognition of human dignity without discrimination. This study concludes that strengthening inclusive social resilience requires an integration between spiritual values and public policies based on the public good. The implementation of environmental ethics (Fiqh al-Bi'ah) is also key in guaranteeing the rights of future generations to natural resources.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategy of utilizing Social Media Engagement (SME) as a Public Relations (PR) tool for new student recruitment amidst the increasingly competitive environment of higher education institutions in 2026. In today's digital era, two-way interaction through social media platforms is no longer merely an information channel, but a strategic tool for building trust and institutional image. The research method used was descriptive qualitative, conducted through observations on TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn, as well as in-depth interviews with university public relations teams. The results showed that high levels of engagement, such as comments, content sharing, and direct messages, positively correlated with prospective student interest in registering. A personalized, transparent, and responsive content strategy is key to PR's success in converting followers into applicants. This study concludes that transforming the role of PR from merely distributing press releases to managing digital communities is crucial for effective recruitment in the future.

Abstract

Amid global challenges such as social fragmentation, moral alienation, and the instrumentalization of education, Islamic education has come under increasing criticism for placing too much emphasis on cognitive achievement and normative religiosity while failing to develop students' affective and humanistic capacities. This condition is particularly evident in many Muslim educational contexts, including madrasahs, where character education often remains prescriptive rather than transformative. Responding to this gap, this study reimagines Islamic education through love-based pedagogy as a way to humanize character formation and promote inclusive social transformation. Using a qualitative multisite phenomenological approach, this study explores the life experiences of teachers, students, and school leaders in selected madrasahs under the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, reflective journals, and participatory observation, and analyzed using thematic analysis based on humanistic perspectives and Islamic ethics. This methodological approach is increasingly used in contemporary educational research to capture the process of meaning formation and the affective dimensions of learning. The findings show that love-based pedagogy contributes to a deeper internalization of Islamic values, strengthens students' moral abilities, and fosters an inclusive attitude towards diversity. The novelty of this research lies in the positioning of love not only as a moral virtue but as a pedagogical framework based on Islamic ethics and contemporary humanistic education. This research offers theoretical and practical contributions by proposing an integrative model of Islamic character education that is in line with the global discourse on humanity and inclusion. Its implications highlight the potential of love-based pedagogy to inform curriculum development, teacher training, and policy innovation in madrasah education, advancing a more humane, inclusive, and socially responsive Islamic education system.

Abstract

Character education in elementary schools has tended to be understood as a process of normative and cognitive value instillation, so that the human aspects of students often receive little attention. This phenomenon is also found in educational practices in several elementary schools in Lumajang Regency, where character learning still focuses on obedience and formal behavioral achievements, while the needs for inclusiveness and a humanistic approach have not been fully internalized. This study aims to reveal the meaning and form of humanization of character education in the practice of inclusive learning based on Islamic values in elementary schools. The study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, involving elementary school teachers as the main subjects through in-depth interviews and learning observations. The results show that the humanization of character education is realized through empathetic pedagogical relationships, appreciation of student diversity, and the integration of Islamic values such as compassion, justice, and responsibility in daily learning practices. These findings expand on previous research that emphasized the normative aspects of character education, offering a phenomenological perspective on teachers' experiences in building inclusive and humanistic character education. This study concludes that a humanization approach based on Islamic values has the potential to strengthen character development and inclusive human development at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Islamic character education faces dual challenges in the digital era: a moral crisis among youth and digital transformation risking the reduction of education to sterile information transmission without transformative dimension. Despite narrative's strong roots in Islamic pedagogy through Qur'anic qisas, no comprehensive theoretical framework explains how narrative thinking systematically shapes moral character. This article develops the "Narrative Thinking as Moral Architecture" framework through theoretical synthesis integrating narrative cognition theory (Bruner), moral development theories (Kohlberg, Rest), social constructivism (Vygotsky), and classical Islamic pedagogical traditions (Al-Ghazali, Ibn Khaldun). A systematic literature review of current research identified significant gaps: minimal systematic integration of Western theories with Islamic traditions in story-based learning. The resulting framework comprises three architectural levels: (1) Foundation (Narrative Comprehension)—activating empathy and moral imagination through story comprehension; (2) Construction (Moral Schema Building)—moral reflection and value internalization through dialogue and discussion; (3) Completion (Character Actualization)—behavioral transformation and sustainable moral identity formation. Each level articulates specific cognitive-affective mechanisms integrated with Islamic concepts (aqidah, syariah, akhlaq). This framework contributes theoretically by synthesizing separate scholarly traditions and generates practical implications for curriculum design and pedagogical practice in Islamic character education in the digital age

Abstract

Profit determination in modern business practices often raises ethical concerns, particularly when profits are obtained excessively and potentially harm society. Islamic Economic Law provides a normative framework that evaluates profit not only from the formal legality of contracts but also from principles of justice, morality, and social impact. This study aims to analyze the concept of profit in Islamic business and to assess excessive profit practices from the perspective of Islamic Economic Law using the maqāṣid al-sharīʿah approach. The research employs a normative legal method with conceptual and philosophical approaches. Data were collected through a literature review of classical fiqh al-muʿāmalāt sources, contemporary Islamic economic thought, modern economic regulations, and relevant scholarly journal articles. The findings indicate that Islam does not stipulate a fixed numerical limit on profit; instead, it establishes qualitative ethical boundaries through justice (al-ʿadl), substantive mutual consent (tarāḍin), and benevolence (iḥsān). Profit is legitimate when derived from reasonable business mechanisms involving proportional risk and without causing harm to other parties. Conversely, excessive profit resulting from market distortions and unequal economic power contradicts the objectives of Islamic law and social welfare.

Abstract

Children's behavior is often associated with parenting patterns within the family, which will certainly be highlighted if the child's behavior does not conform to the norms in the family environment. Furthermore, the popular proverb in our society, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree," further marginalizes parents in relation to negative behavior carried out by children. When this is faced with the condition of incomplete parents and then care is transferred to grandparents. The focus of this study asks how the impact of pampering grandmothers' parenting patterns on children in shaping the character of Generation Z? The purpose of the study was to determine the impact of pampering grandmothers' parenting patterns on shaping the character of Generation Z. This research method is qualitative with a case study approach where data collection was carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation. From the results of the study, one of the factors is parenting patterns. In addition to parenting patterns, it is also known that children's past experiences also support character formation in adolescence.

Abstract

Islamic banks operating in secular environments like the UK face a complex communication challenge: how to maintain a strict Sharia identity while appealing to a mass market often skeptical of religious symbols. This study addresses this issue by analyzing the translation and adaptation strategies of Sharia contracts at Al Rayan Bank UK. Adopting an interdisciplinary approach combining linguistics and Islamic economics, this study applies Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) to examine textual data from the bank's official website. The analysis focuses on two key phenomena: the branding shift from "Islamic" to "Ethical," and the conversion of technical terminology like 'Murabahah' into 'Home Purchase Plan.' Findings indicate that the bank employs a "Strategic Adaptation" strategy through linguistic domestication techniques. Arabic terms are replaced with neutral English equivalents to reduce cultural barriers. However, the study confirms that Sharia substance remains protected through precise linguistic qualifications, such as the use of "Expected" for profit rates, which legally affirms the risk-sharing principle and rejects fixed interest schemes. In conclusion, these terminological changes are not theological distortions but vital communication innovations. This research recommends this language adaptation model as a reference for global Islamic financial institutions in bridging Sharia compliance with modern market inclusivity.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes in various aspects of life, including education. Digitalization opens up opportunities for more inclusive and equitable access to education, yet it also presents challenges such as the weakening of students' character, tendencies toward dehumanization, and increasing social inequality. In this context, Islamic education plays a strategic role as the foundation for human development that emphasizes not only intellectual aspects but also character building and human values. This article aims to conceptually examine the role of inclusive Islamic education in character building and human development in the digital age. The method used is a conceptual study based on literature review, analyzing classical and contemporary sources relevant to Islamic education and human development theory through content analysis and thematic analysis. The study identifies five main dimensions: (1) inclusive Islamic education as a humanistic educational paradigm that acknowledges diversity, (2) character formation through the internalization of values such as honesty, responsibility, empathy, justice, and moderation, (3) significant contribution to human development through the integration of spiritual, moral, and social dimensions, (4) implementation challenges including limited educators' understanding and minimal integration of character values in technology utilization, and (5) a conceptual model of character-based inclusive Islamic education that integrates Islamic values, inclusivity principles, and ethical use of digital technology. The study concludes that inclusive Islamic education can serve as a foundation for character-based, just, and sustainable human development in the digital age through synergy among values, educational systems, and social contexts.
