Abstract

This research examines the synergy of citizen empowerment in creating a green and healthy environment through a case study in Kota Baru Village, Tanjung Karang Timur District. The main focus of the research is how active community participation, collaboration with the village government, and support from various parties can encourage the creation of a more beautiful, healthy, and sustainable environment. The implemented programs include planting trees in open spaces, creating biopore infiltration holes for flood control and organic waste processing, and promoting a clean and healthy lifestyle. The research method used a descriptive qualitative approach, collecting data through field observations, interviews, and activity documentation. The results show that citizen involvement through mutual cooperation not only improves the quality of the physical environment but also strengthens social bonds between residents and fosters a sense of ownership of shared living spaces. Furthermore, environmental empowerment activities have a positive impact on public health by reducing waste, improving air quality, and creating green spaces that can be used for social activities. In conclusion, the synergy of citizen empowerment is key to the success of sustainable environmental development at the local level and can serve as a model for replication in other urban areas.

Abstract

The implementation of a participatory ecology program is a strategic effort to create a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment through active community involvement. This study aims to describe the implementation of a community-based ecology program in Kota Baru Village, East Tanjung Karang. The program included planting 50 trees to increase green cover, creating biopore infiltration holes to reduce waterlogging and improve soil quality, and utilizing used cooking oil to create aromatherapy candles as an innovative solution for household waste management. Additionally, waste awareness campaigns, anti-bullying campaigns, environmental education, the distribution of street mirrors, participation in the commemoration of Indonesian Independence Day on August 17, and routine clean-up Fridays and afternoon exercise programs were integral to strengthening community ecological awareness. The implementation results showed increased community awareness of environmental management, reduced household waste generation, and the formation of social collaborations that strengthened solidarity among residents. With the involvement of various community groups, this program not only had ecological impacts, but also social and cultural ones. Empowering farmers in Kolaka Timur Regency through horticultural crop cultivation and organic fertilizer production aims to enhance farmers' knowledge and skills in managing agriculture more efficiently and sustainably. This community service program involves the Maju Bersama Farmers Group as the main subject and is implemented using a participatory approach, where farmers are directly involved in planning, training, and field mentoring. The activities carried out include training on modern horticultural cultivation techniques, organic fertilizer production, and ongoing field mentoring.
