Abstract

ABSTRAK Plasma nutfah di Merauke perlu di lesatrikan sebagai sumber daya genetik salah satunya adalah ayam hutan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah sebagai informasi awal tentang habitat, proses reproduksi, karakteristik telur, hingga proses penetasan. Lokasi penelitian dipilih secara purposive, penelitian menggunakan metode survey, dan pengamatan secara langsung. Data di analisis secara deskriptif dan rerata menggunakan standar deviasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa habitat alami ayam mulai di tiga wilayah secara umum diareal “deek” hutan sedang hingga lebat. Sarang ayam hutan terbuat dari daun kering, ranting serta dibuat diantara tumpukan kayu lapuk ataupun pada kayu yang masih hidup diatas tanah. Rata-rata diameter sarang mencapai 53-61 cm dengan ketinggian mencapai rata-rata 163-174 cm. Ayam hutan betina mampu bertelur antara 4-5 butir per ekor, rata-rata berat telur ayam hutan mencapai 67- 69 gr dengan warna dominan adalah coklat muda serta bentuk telur oval.  Karakteristik fenotipik warna bulu ayam hutan adalah berwarna coklat dan hitam, sedikit berjambul dibagian kepala.  Habitat ayam hutan di tiga wilayah mulai terganggu, yang berdampak pada tingkahlaku mencari pakan, reproduksi hingga produksi telur ayam hutan. Namun demikian potensi sumber genetik ini perlu dilestarikan di kabupaten merauke.Kata Kunci: tingkahlaku, reproduksi, telur, ayam hutan Identification of Reproductive Behavior and Characteristics a Partridge as an Effort to Preserve Genetic Resources in MeraukeABSTRACT Plasmanutfah needs to be located as a genetic resource, one of which is partridge. The purpose of this research is as initial information about habitat, reproductive process, egg characteristics, and hatching process. The research location was chosen purposively, the study used survey methods and direct observation. Data were analyzed descriptively and averaged using standard deviation. The results showed that the natural habitat of the chickens was starting to be disturbed, the habitat of the forest fowl in the three areas was generally in the middle of the dense forest “deek” area. Forest chicken nests are made of dry leaves, twigs and made between piles of weathered wood or wood that is still alive on the ground. The average nest diameter reaches 53-61 cm with an average height of 163-174 cm. Female jungle fowl can lay between 4-5 eggs per head, the average egg weight of partridge reaches 67-69 grams with the dominant color being light brown and oval egg shape. The phenotypic characteristics of the color of the jungle fowl are brown and black, with a slight crust on the head. The habitat of partridge in these three areas has begun to be disturbed, resulting in the foraging behavior, reproduction, and production of partridge eggs. Therefore, the potential of this genetic source needs to be preserved in Merauke Regency.Keywords: behavior, reproduction, eggs, partridge

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan  untuk menganalisis dan menentukan keberadaan serta tingkat residu antibiotik terutama golongan tertasiklin pada sampel lapang hati ayam broiler yang berada di Kota Kendari. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi lapang, pengambilan sampel dan pengujian sampel di laboratorium. Penentuan lokasi pengambilan sampel secara purposive sampling. Lokasi sampling (pasar) yang dijadikan sebagai tempat pengambilan sebanyak 5 (lima) pasar sesuai dengan kriteria yang telah ditentukan. Jenis sampel yang digunakan adalah hati ayam potong yang berasal dari beberapa pedagang dengan kisaran bobot karkas/bobot hati yang berbeda.  Pengambilan sampel hati dilakukan dengan metode simple random sampling. Pengujian sampel digunakan sesuai dengan Standar Nasional Indonesia dengan metode Tapis. Pengujian residu dilakukan melalui uji skrining test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemeriksaan residu antibiotik pada semua sampel adalah negatif. Kesimpulannya adalah produk peternakan dari ayam potong yang di pasarkan di Kota Kendari sebagian besar tidak mengandung residu antibiotik. Peternak ayam potong yang ada di Kota Kendari sudah mulai bijak dalam penggunaan antibiotik serta penentuan waktu panen.Kata kunci: ayam broiler, hati ayam, residu antibitikABSTRACT               This study aimed to analyze and determine the presence and level of antibiotic residue, especially tetracycline group in broiler chicken liver in Kendari. The methods used in this study were field observations, sampling, and laboratory testing. Determination of sampling location was done by purposive sampling. The sampling location (market) chosen for this study were 5 (five) markets based on predetermined criteria. The type of sample collected was broiler liver from several butchers with different ranges of carcass / liver weight. Liver sampling was done using simple random sampling method. The sample was tested using Tapis method in accordance to Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Tetracycline residue was tested by screening test. The results showed negative antibiotic residues in all samples. It can be concluded that livestock products from broiler chicken in Kendari market are mostly free from antibiotic residue. It can be assumed that the broiler farmers in Kendari have become wise in using antibiotics and the determination of harvest after antibiotic treatment.  Keywords: antibiotic residues, broilers liver, broiler meat

Abstract

ABSTRAKPermasalahan resistensi Antibiotika pada hewan kesayangan menjadi kendala kesehatan hewan di seluruh dunia. World Health Organisation (WHO) menyebutkan bahwa pada masa mendatang resistensi antibiotika akan menjadi tantangan yang terbesar dalam dunia kesehatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur tingkat resistensi antibiotika terhadap Escherichia coli yang diisolasi dari kucing pada klinik hewan di Kota Bogor. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa resistensi Escherichia coli tertinggi terjadi pada golongan β-laktam (ampisilin 66% dan amoksisilin 60%) yang diikuti oleh golongan tetrasiklin (oksitetrasiklin 54% dan dosisiklin 24%), serta golongan kuinolon (enrofloksasin 38% dan ciprofloksasin 28%). Hasil dari penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi pertimbangan medis bagi praktisi hewan kesayangan dalam penggunaan antibiotika.Kata Kunci: Escherichia coli, klinik hewan, kucing, resistensi antibiotikaABSTRACTThe problem of antibiotic resistance in pets is obstacles to animal health throughout the world. World Health Organization (WHO) states that in the future, antibiotic resistance will become the biggest challenge in the health concern. This study aims to measure the level of Escherichia coli resistance to antibiotics which is isolated from cats on veterinary clinics in Bogor City. The results showed that the highest resistance of Escherichia coli occurred in the β-lactam group (ampicillin 66% and amoxicillin 60%) followed by tetracycline (oxytetracycline 54% and doxycycline 24%), and quinolone group (enrofloxacin 38% and ciprofloxacin 28%). This study is expected to become medical considerations for pet practitioners in the use of antibiotics.Keywords: animal clinic, antibiotic resistance, cats, Escherichia coli

Abstract

Pemeliharaan ternak kambing di Kabupaten Muna masih bersifat tradisional, dimana kambing dipelihara secara ekstensif, semi intensif dan intensif.Populasi kambing di Kabupaten Muna terbilang cukup besar dan tersebar luas dengan jenis kambing kacang. Tujuan Penelitian untuk mengetahui hubungan antara sistem pemeliharaan dan pertambahan populasi Kambing kacang di Kabupaten Muna. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada 50 desa sebagai sampel yang tersebar pada 22 kecamatan menggunakan metode survey dengan jumlah  responden 124 orang menggunakan purposive sampling, yang merupakan peternak kambing kacang. Populasi kambing yang dipelihara peternak pada lokasi penelitian sebesar 1025 ekor atau 29.23 persen dari total populasi kambing di Kabupaten Muna pada tahun 2019. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan dengan sistem pemeliharaan ekstensif tradisional, dapat mendorong pertambahan populasi sebesar 1,69% dari total populasi dan atau mampu meningkatkan pertambahan populasi secara alami sebesar 55.02 persen dari total induk kambing kacang yang ada di  Kabupaten Muna. Dapat disimpulkan sistem pemeliharaan kambing kacang dikabupaten Muna masih didominasi sistem pemeliharaan ekstensif tradisional.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the hematological profile of the blood of Kampung Unggul Balitnak (KUB) chickens given turmeric additives because the curcumin content in turmeric increases appetite and has antioxidant activity. The study was carried out from July to August 2021 at the Poultry Animal Science Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Science, Halu Oleo University, Kendari using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications with the research sample consisting of 40 KUB chickens aged 4 months. The variables observed in the study were blood sugar levels, cholesterol levels and uric acid. The results of the study showed that the administration of turmeric flour at a level of 0.5 grams – 2 grams did not have a significant effect (P>0,5) on blood sugar, cholesterol and uric acid levels. Thus, it can be concluded that the blood hematology of superior balitnak free-range chickens with turmeric flour does not have a significant effect on blood sugar, cholesterol and uric acid.

Abstract

Penyakit rabies merupakan penyakit zoonosis yang disebabkan oleh virus dan ditularkan melalui gigitan hewan penular rabies (HPR) seperti anjing, kucing, kera dan mamalia lainnya dapat menyebabkan kematian hingga 100%. Penyakit rabies dapat dicegah, namun kurangnya pengetahuan dan kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya vaksinasi rabies masih kurang sehingga menyebabkan penyakit ini masih endemik di Kota Kendari. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat untuk melindungi hewan yang beresiko dari virus rabies. Kegiatan ini bertempat di MTQ Kota Kendari, Sulawesi Tenggara, melalui sosialisasi penyakit rabies dan vaksinasi rabies. Hasil kegiatan adalah sebanyak 145 ekor yang terdiri dari anjing dan kucing telah divaksin rabies dan kegiatan ini melibatkan 15 dokter hewan yang tergabung dalam Perhimpunan Dokter Hewan Indonesia Cabang Sulawesi Tenggara (PDHI Sultra). Proses sosialisasi dan vaksinasi rabies berlangsung secara lancar dan masyarakat antusias dalam mengikuti kegiatan. Melalui kegiatan ini diharapkan adanya pengetahuan dan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap penanggulangan dan pencegahan penyakit rabies di Kota Kendari menuju Indonesia Bebas Rabies 2030.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Quality assurance and food safety have an important role in the supply of food. Chicken meat is one of the foodstuffs of animal origin that continues to experience an increase in demand every year. The provision of chicken meat in Kendari City still depends on traditional markets through poultry slaughterhouses. This study aimed to evaluate the implementation of Good Hygiene Practices at poultry slaughterhouses located in traditional markets in Kendari City. The research was focused on worker competence, chicken meat products, and the production environment. Data collection was carried out through observation and interviews with 39 merchants from seven traditional markets in Kendari City. The results of this study indicated that 69.23% (27/39) of the respondents were in the productive age group, namely 21-40 years, while 48.72% (19/39) of the respondents' educational level were high school equivalents. In the whole production process, the poultry slaughterhouse did not separate clean and dirty rooms in handling carcasses. Meanwhile, on the environmental aspect, there were still poultry slaughterhouses without waste treatment and supervision. The results of this study concluded that the poultry slaughterhouses in traditional markets in Kendari City had not implemented Good Hygiene Practices thoroughly. Keyword: Good hygiene practices, poultry slaughterhouse, traditional market ABSTRAK Penjaminan kualitias dan keamanan pangan memiliki peranan penting dalam penyediaan bahan pangan. Daging ayam merupakan salah satu bahan pangan asal hewan yang terus mengalami peningkatan permintaan setiap tahunnya. Penyediaan daging ayam yang di Kota Kendari masih bergantung pada pasar tradisional melalui tempat pemotongan ayam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi penerapan Good Hygiene Practices yang dilaksanakan pada tempat pemotongan ayam yang terletak di pasar tradisional Kota Kendari. Penitian difokuskan pada kompetensi pekerja, produk daging ayam serta lingkungan produksi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melaui observasi dan wawancara pada 39 pelaku usaha dari 7 pasar tradisional yang terdapat di Kota Kendari. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa 69,23% (27/39) responden berada pada rentan usia produktif yaitu 21-40 tahun, 48,72% (19/39) tingkat pendidikan responden adalah SLTA sederajat. Pada proses produksi keseluruhan tempat pemotongan ayam tidak memisahkan antara ruang bersih dan ruang kotor dalam penanganan karkas. Sedangkan pada aspek lingkungan, masih ditemukan TPA yang berprodusi tanpa pengolahan limbah serta tanpa pengawasan. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa tatalaksana pemotonan ayam di pasar tradisonal Kota Kendari belum menerapkan prosedur Good Hygiene Practices secara menyeluruh. Abstract

Bacterial contamination in chicken meat is an indicator in determining the quality of food ingredients. Contaminant bacteria cause damage to meat and cause foodborne disease due to their metabolite products. Staphylococcus aureus is a bacterium that causes food poisoning due to its toxin products. Meat contamination by Staphylococcus aureus occurs through the food itself or through the environment where it is processed. This study aims to isolate and identify the presence of Staphylococcus aureus in chicken meat and the production environment. The results of this study indicate that Staphylococcus aureus can be isolated from chicken meat (40%), the floor of the holding cage (26.67%), the place for bleeding (62.22%), the hair removal machine (64.44%) and the table. processing (80%) as a representation of environmental quality assessment indicators. These results illustrate that it is necessary to improve chicken slaughterhouses in traditional markets to increase and guarantee the quality of chicken meat.

Abstract

Foot and mouth disease (FMD) is a disease caused by the FMD virus which has an impact of economic losses for farmers with a high morbidity rate. Knowledge and attitude of farmers towards FMD is very important in efforts to control this disease. The Aim of this study was to describe the knowledge and attitudes of farmers towards foot and mouth disease in cattle in Kendari. This research was conducted from September to December 2022 on 40 cattle farmers in the city of Kendari. Methods of data analysis using descriptive statistics univariate analysis. The results of the farmers' knowledge and attitudes towards foot and mouth disease were 62.83% and 64.25%. The relationship between the variables of gender, age, education level had no significant effect on farmer's knowledge and attitudes (P>0.05). Knowledge and attitude of farmers towards foot and mouth disease in Kendari city is in the sufficient category.

Abstract

Beef cattle in Indonesia in recent years have continued to decline, which is caused by various factors including slaughter of productive livestock and livestock diseases to feed problems. This research will specifically examine the source of animal feed from food crops in Konawe Regency as an alternative to tackling the fodder shortage originating from forage. This study uses secondary data from the Konawe Regency Statistics Agency 2022 by collecting data from harvested areas of food crops and the population of ruminants such as beef cattle and goats. The data obtained were then processed to facilitate the interpretation of the data and analyzed descriptively using the analysis of the carrying capacity of livestock. The results of the study found that the harvested area of 52.990 hectares of food crops with dry matter production of 100,631.650 kg was able to provide a source of feed for livestock as much as 30,633.68 ST beef cattle and 42,968.25 ST goats.
