Abstract

Surface water in Bojonegoro Regency plays a crucial role in meeting domestic, agricultural and ecosystem needs. However, various human activities, such as excessive use of chemical fertilizers in agricultural areas, have led to a decline in water quality. This study analyses the surface water quality using the National Sanitation Foundation Water Quality Index (NSF-WQI) method based on eight parameters: temperature, TDS, pH, DO, BOD, nitrate, phosphate and fecal coliform. The results of the analysis indicate that the surface water quality status falls into the "medium" category, with index values ranging from 51 to 70. Most parameters meet the Class II quality standards set by Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021, but elevated phosphate levels indicate the potential for eutrophication caused by agricultural activities. To maintain water quality, regular monitoring, public awareness campaigns and effective management are essential to support the sustainability of water resources in this region.

Abstract

The problem in this study is that not all SMEs are active in the business legality development programme run by the Mojokerto Regency Trade and Industry Office. There are various factors that can cause this, such as not understanding how to manage business legality and not knowing the benefits of business legality. In this problem, it was analysed using the discriminant analysis method supported by calculations in Excel software. Thus, this study aims to classify SMEs that are active or inactive in the legality development programme. The results obtained based on the discriminant function showed that the first discriminant function had a value of -0.51 and the second function had a value of -0.40. It can be concluded that the classification category of the data is more dominant towards the active SME criteria. The solution that can be implemented is that the Mojokerto Regency Trade and Industry Office is expected to be able to increase socialisation regarding the benefits of the legality development programme so that more SMEs are involved.

Abstract

Silica-based column particles have been widely developed, but their particle size remains very small and heterogeneous, typically less than 3 µm. This small and inconsistent size poses challenges for interacting with the mobile phase during the separation of specific components due to the instability of the column particles . To address this issue, a method was developed using a methacrylate-based polymer core coated with silica and phenyl groups. The goal was to test column particles with a polymer core as the base, expecting improved performance compared to silica cores, with a target particle size >3 µm. This study evaluated the new method for separating paracetamol and caffeine, achieving excellent separation results (Rs 3.86). The method was optimized using a mobile phase consisting of methanol and water (60:40), a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min, and a wavelength of 274 nm. A single injection resulted in peak 1 for paracetamol and peak 2 for caffeine. The success of this method is evidenced by the production of sphere, homogeneous, with an average size of 3.17 µm. This analytical method has been effectively applied to the separation of paracetamol and caffeine, demonstrating its suitability  for continuous use in drug separation validation.

Abstract

Human demand for land continues to increase with rapid population growth. This rapid population growth rate will certainly affect land cover changes, which will be increasingly high and may have an impact on land and environmental conversion, especially in the river basin area. One of the catchments that may be affected is the Deli catchment, in particular the Deli Hulu catchment area. The Deli Hulu watershed is geographically located in the administrative area of Deli Serdang Regency and Karo Regency, which have large populations. Therefore, this triggers land use patterns. This study aims to analyse the changes of land cover in Deli Hulu Watershed area in 2013, 2018, 2023 to predict the land cover in 2033. This study uses 6 driving factors, namely distance from roads, distance from rivers, distance from settlements, population density, slope and altitude. This study uses Artificial Neural Network-Markov chain modelling to predict land cover changes in 2033. The results of the study show that the predicted land cover in the Deli Hulu watershed in 2033 is Dryland Forest 3,318 ha (17.16%), Plantations 2,800 ha (14.48%), Settlements 959 ha (4.96%), Dryland Agriculture 11,311 ha (58.49%), Rice Fields 873 ha (4.51%) and Open Land 78 ha (0.40%).

Abstract

The increasing use of single-use plastics in Kediri City prompted the issuance of Kediri Mayor Regulation No. 30 of 2023 on restricting single-use plastics. This study analyzes plastic waste composition, community and business participation, and the factors influencing policy implementation. Plastic waste composition was measured using the quarter sampling method in three districts, while participation data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM-PLS). The results show that plastic bags dominate single-use plastic waste, contributing up to 90%, particularly in residential areas due to small business activities. Support for the policy is relatively high, with 74.46% of the community and 64.64% of businesses agreeing, but concrete implementation remains low. SEM-PLS analysis reveals that environmental awareness, knowledge, and attitudes significantly influence the reduction of single-use plastics, while economic income factors are not significant. Continuous education, the provision of eco-friendly alternatives, and collaboration among stakeholders are essential to enhancing policy effectiveness.

Abstract

Ecoprint is a dyeing technique using natural materials such as leaves, which is increasingly demanded by the textile industry due to its environmental friendliness compared to synthetic dyes. Studies on ecoprinting have mainly focused on leaf patterns and colour directions, with limited research on the colour fastness and strength of leaf parts used on fabrics. The aim of this study is to analyse the colour fastness and strength, specifically on ecoprint fabrics produced by the alum fixation pounding technique, using different types of leaves including teak, lanang, cassava, Japanese papaya and aubergine leaves. The tests include colour fastness to soap wash, ironing heat, sunlight and colour strength value (K/S). The results show that teak leaves have the highest fastness to sunlight with a value of 5 (very good), although they have the lowest resistance to soap washing with a value of 3-4 (fair), while other leaves vary between 3 (fair) and 2 (poor) to sunlight. This reinforces the recommendation to avoid drying ecoprint fabrics in direct sunlight. Fastness to soap wash and ironing heat is considered good. Furthermore, the K/S value analysis shows that the upper side of the leaves generally contributes more to colour absorption than the lower side, depending on the method used, with the exception of manioc leaves.
