Abstract

Tarpaulin work is work carried out at height to protect a product. Tarpaulin work is a high-risk activity if you are not equipped with the appropriate safety equipment. The risk of serious injury is high because of the height at which tarpaulin work is carried out. This research resulted in an evaluation of the Tower Truck Discharge Station, a new infrastructure to support safety in the tarpaulin process. Based on the results of data processing based on truck height variability, it is recommended that the ideal tower height of approximately 300 cm be established as a reference. With this tower height, the distance that workers have to cover when descending into the truck bed is reduced to only 14 cm, while the distance that workers have to cover when climbing onto the truck is approximately 18 cm. It was also found that when identifying and assessing hazards during the tarpaulin process, accidents caused by slippery steps on the truck bed were included in the low-risk category, although they still required vigilance. Factors such as climbing or descending high steps (2-3 metres), working at height, exposure to extreme weather conditions (heat, wind, rain) and exposure to dust or hazardous materials were placed in the medium risk category because they increase the potential for accidents. Meanwhile, the risk from slippery fertiliser piles is classified as high risk because it has the potential to cause fatal accidents, so serious precautions are needed.

Abstract

Project management is a critical element in ensuring the smooth execution of tasks within the planned timeframe, budget and quality. In the maritime industry, one of the major challenges is to manage the complexity of production phases that involve numerous activities and dependencies. This study aims to analyse and optimise the duration of the electrical and electronic outfitting phase in the Type B ship project at PT. XYZ using the Critical Path Method (CPM) supported by the POM-QM for Windows software. The results show that the application of CPM successfully identified the critical activity path, namely A-B-D-F-H, and reduced the project duration from 128 days to 89 days, achieving a time efficiency of 39 days. This optimisation significantly reduces the potential for operational cost overruns without compromising the quality of the work. This study highlights the importance of data-driven project planning to minimise delays and improve resource efficiency. As a recommendation, CPM and supporting tools such as POM-QM can be more widely implemented on similar projects in the maritime industry to improve productivity and overall project sustainability.

Abstract

The operational efficiency of the warehouse is a crucial factor in supporting the smooth running of the supply chain, especially in the inbound and outbound processes. The objective of this research is to analyse the root cause of the problem and reduce waste in the form of waiting time, which has a significant impact on the performance of PT XYZ's warehouse. This research applies the Lean Six Sigma approach, with tools in the form of Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to map the process flow, as well as the implementation of 5S as a proposed improvement to improve process order and work efficiency. The results showed that the high waiting time was caused by a lack of staff training, limited transport equipment, a continued reliance on manual processes and an inefficient warehouse layout. Suggested solutions included sorting goods by frequency of use, organising the warehouse layout, cleaning the warehouse regularly and developing clear SOPs. Implementation of the improvement recommendations resulted in a 51.38% increase in process cycle efficiency. This research shows that the Lean Six Sigma approach is effective in improving the efficiency of the warehouse process in a sustainable way.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to design a digitally based Student Record and Practical Project Record application that complies with CASR Part 147 and EASA Part 147 standards. This application is expected to overcome various weaknesses of the manual system in recording learning hours, practicals and assessment, such as the risk of document damage, low efficiency and limited data accuracy. The research methodology adopts a systematic approach based on VDI 2222, which includes five main stages: needs analysis, system conceptualisation, technical design, prototype implementation and evaluation of results. The application was implemented using the Laravel framework, cloud-based technology and a responsively designed user interface to ensure data security, ease of access and operational efficiency. Application testing involved the main users, namely learners, teachers and administrators, to evaluate the functionality and performance of the system. The results show that the application is able to record learning and practical hours in accordance with the regulations (3,000 hours for CASR and 2,400 hours for EASA), provide comprehensive assessment reports and facilitate efficient management of practical documents. Therefore, this application has proven to be effective in supporting the management of vocational aviation training and has the potential to become a model for the development of similar systems in other educational institutions. For wider implementation, user training and system optimisation are required to ensure sustainability and adaptability.

Abstract

Defective products are goods or services that are produced in the production process but have defects that cause their quality to be poor. The aim of this research is to discuss the causes of failed or defective feed products. The research method used is Seven Tools and Kaizen. From the defect data, it was found that the largest contributor to the number of defects from the total production of 161,040 kg of defective fish feed was striped colour, amounting to 143,760 kg or 89.27%, while moist > std of 17,280 kg or 10.73%. The analysis results show that stripe colour defects are a top priority to be minimised. The problem is solved by human, machine and environmental factors in the form of arranging production work time schedules, carrying out nozzle spray checks periodically, replacing the pusher fluid on the machine and adding lighting to the analysis area to check product defects.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the calculations involved in optimising inventory management for raw material procurement at PT ABC using the safety stock method. In an increasingly competitive industrial context, efficient inventory management is crucial to maintain operational continuity and minimise costs. The safety stock method is used to anticipate fluctuations in demand and delays in delivery, thereby reducing the risk of raw material shortages. This research uses historical sales data and procurement lead times to calculate the optimal safety stock level. The analysis results indicate that the implementation of the safety stock method can improve inventory management efficiency, reduce inventory carrying costs and ensure timely availability of raw materials. In addition, this study provides recommendations for PT ABC to continuously monitor and adjust safety stock levels in response to changes in demand and market conditions. Thus, this research is expected to contribute to the development of better inventory management strategies within the company.

Abstract

This evaluation of the working environment was carried out in order to improve health and safety at work (K3), reduce the risk of accidents at work and optimise the psychological state of the employees. The research was carried out by taking measurements in all rooms of the Quality Control Building, 1st floor and dining room. The data was analysed using Microsoft Excel software. The data was then analysed using the HIRADC method. In the noise measurements, the room with the highest noise is the Chemical Physics Laboratory Room at 81.21 dB. Then, when measuring humidity, the room with the highest humidity is the changing room at 68.90%. In the light intensity measurement, the room with the highest light intensity is the Returns Room at 1686 lux. In the temperature measurement, the room with the highest temperature is the laundry room at 33.20°C. The HIRADC analysis is then carried out to identify potential hazards that may occur and to determine improvements that can be made. Based on the HIRADC analysis, there are 7 that are in the low risk category, which has a risk level range of 1-4, marked in green. There are 9 that are in the medium risk category between 5-9 which is marked in yellow. Then there are 4 in the high risk category between 10-16, which are marked in orange. This means that the risks in the high category require in-depth action.

Abstract

Labour serves as a critical resource that has a significant impact on a company's operations and financial results, particularly in the oil and gas sector, which contributes to national economic development. This research focuses on evaluating the impact of workforce size on the financial performance of PT Migas using regression and correlation analysis techniques. The study uses financial ratios such as return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) and operating costs as data variables. The results show a weak inverse relationship between the number of employees and ROA, with a correlation coefficient of -0.526, indicating a negative association. Similarly, the correlation between the number of employees and ROE is calculated at -0.332, while the correlations with operating expenses and EBITDA are -0.991 and -0.848 respectively, all indicating a negative trend. Over the three-year analysis period, the results show that the size of the workforce does not have a significant impact on financial performance. This highlights the potential influence of other factors on firm performance and the need for management to implement more efficient workforce strategies. This study aims to provide valuable quantitative insights for management in formulating labour-related policies to support the company's future financial growth.

Abstract

Intense competition in the marketplace encourages every company to continuously maintain and improve the quality of its products. High quality standards are not only a measure of customer confidence, but also an important factor in maintaining competitiveness in the market. This study aims to analyse and mitigate risks in the calibration process at PT XYZ laboratory using the House of Risk (HOR) method. Quality control in the calibration of measuring instruments is very important to ensure that the products manufactured are of a high quality and in compliance with standards. The HOR approach is carried out in two stages. HOR Stage 1 to identify and prioritise risk agents based on the Aggregate Risk Potentials (ARP) value, and HOR Stage 2 to formulate effective mitigation strategies. The results showed 13 dominant risk agents out of a total of 22 identified, with mitigation prioritised based on effectiveness scores and difficulty of implementation. Suggested mitigation strategies include clear tool identification, skills training, ergonomic layout, task rotation, standard waste management, document digitisation, workspace optimisation and improved communication and team coordination to support efficiency and safety. This research is expected to help companies manage risk, improve the efficiency of the calibration process and maintain the quality of measurement results in accordance with established standards. This research is expected to help the company manage risk, improve the efficiency of the calibration process and maintain the quality of measurement results in accordance with established standards.

Abstract

Food loss and waste (FLW) is a global issue with profound implications for food security, environmental sustainability, and economic systems. This problem is particularly acute in Maritime Southeast Asia, where individual contributions to FLW can exceed 150 kilograms per year. Despite its significance, applied research on the underlying causes, management strategies, measurement methodologies, and policy frameworks for FLW mitigation in this densely populated region (over 400 million people) is conspicuously lacking. Our comprehensive literature review identified only 15 articles directly relevant to the topic, offering a limited perspective on the complexities of FLW generation. The methodologies employed in these studies lack the robustness required for wider application within the region or for broader comparative analyses. The review, therefore, requires urgent, expansive research across the entire food supply chain in Maritime Southeast Asia and considers factors such as the social, technological, behavioral, and cultural, further elucidating what the real causes and drivers of FLW are within the region.
