Abstract

The economy of a country is influenced by many important factors, including its industry and trade. This research was conducted to determine the influence of coaching, certification and socialisation activities on the smooth running of MSME businesses in Mojokerto Regency. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires to the MSMEs concerned and then processed with SPSS software using multiple linear regression. The results of the study began with a data quality test that produced all variables that were valid and reliable, then the classical assumption test produced normally distributed data that passed the multicollinearity and heterokedasticity tests. For the equation of the three independent variables in the state of zero, the variable of business smoothness is valued at 11.846, if the variable of coaching activities increases by one unit, there will be a decrease in the variable of business smoothness by 0.045, if the certification and socialisation activities increase by one unit, there will be an increase in the variable of business smoothness by 0.021 and 0.086. The hypothesis test produced a coefficient of determination of 0.012, so the three independent variables explain the business smoothness variable by 1.2%, the F test concluded that the three independent variables (simultaneous) did not have a significant effect on the business smoothness variable, the T test concluded that the three independent variables (partial) did not have a significant effect on the business smoothness variable.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the application of FIFO (First In, First Out) method in managing the lubricant warehouse at PT PLN Nusantara Power UP Tanjung Awar-Awar. The FIFO method is used to ensure that the first item received is the first item used, thus minimising the risk of product quality degradation due to long storage. This study was carried out using a quantitative descriptive approach, using Reorder Point (ROP) and Reorder Quantity (ROQ) data to analyse the efficiency of storage space and logistics flow. The results of the study indicate that the FIFO method successfully improves warehouse management efficiency, minimises wastage of space and ensures that lubricant quality is maintained. The study recommends the implementation of a new warehouse layout to optimise more efficient and adaptive logistics operations.

Abstract

Project management itself is the process of combining tools, resources and techniques to achieve predetermined goals. If all activities are managed according to clear objectives and outcomes, the project will run according to plan. On-site project monitoring should be carried out regularly to predict possible errors in terms of time, cost, etc. The purpose of this study was to analyse the schedule, identify the critical path and compare the total labour costs in the manufacture of reactor tanks by PT. PDK. The approach used is the Critical Path Method (CPM) supported by POM-QM software. The study is descriptive with a quantitative approach. The conclusions are as follows: First, the activity schedule consists of 28 activities, with the activity sequence A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I-J-K-L-M-N-O-P-Q-R-S-T-U-V-W-X-Y-Z-AA-AB with a duration of 158 days; Second, the results of the CPM analysis show a pattern of activity paths, where the critical path of the reactor tank construction project is A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I-J-K-L-M-Z-AA-AB with a duration of 108 days; and thirdly, the application of the CPM method successfully reduced the labour cost of the project from Rp 97,960,000 to Rp 66,960,000, which means that there was a cost saving of Rp 31,000,000. The application of project management through CPM analysis shows that the project schedule and cost become more optimal, effective and efficient, and the results of this study are consistent with previous studies that discuss project management methods.

Abstract

The water supply activity at XYZ Dock is a high-risk work area. The purpose of this research is to identify hazard risks and provide suggestions for controlling occupational safety and health (OSH) hazards at XYZ Pier. The methods used in this research are Job Safety Analysis Hazard Identification (JSA) and Hazard Risk Assessment and Control (HIRARC). Based on the results obtained from the identification of hazards in each water supply activity, the data obtained in the hose laying activity has 4 medium hazards and 2 low hazards. In the clean water distribution activity, there is 1 high risk, 2 medium risks and 1 low risk. In the activity of releasing the hose there is 1 risk of medium value and 3 risks of low value. After risk control, there is 1 medium risk and 5 low risks in the hose laying activity. In the clean water distribution activity there is 1 medium value risk and 3 low value risks. In the hose removal activity, there is 1 risk of medium value and 3 risks of low value. Therefore, this investigation is able to reduce the risk of potential hazards in the clean water supply activities at XYZ pier.

Abstract

PT PB, one of Indonesia's garment factories, has found defective garments in its production process. These defects result in financial and time losses for the company. This study aims to reduce the defect rate of garment products, analyse the causes of production defects and propose quality control improvements. The Six Sigma method based on the DMAIC approach (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) was used in this research. The results showed a Sigma level of 3.48 and a DPMO value of 23,440 defects per million garment productions in October 2024. In addition, five types of garment defects were identified, with the Pareto chart indicating that peel-off accounted for the highest percentage at 29%. Recommendations for improvement include implementing predictive maintenance and evaluating unplanned breakdowns after maintenance, conducting initial inspections and monitoring processes to ensure machines comply with SOPs, strict inspection of fabrics and accessories from receipt to processing, continuous improvement, strict product quality monitoring by operators at each workstation, and increased employee training before machines are operated.

Abstract

Tenggilis Mejoyo Sub-district, Surabaya, has significant potential for Green Open Spaces (GOS) to support carbon emission reduction in urban areas. This study aims to analyse the carbon stock potential of GOS in the area and evaluate their role in carbon emission mitigation. Primary data were collected through field surveys measuring tree diameter and height using the allometric method, while secondary data were obtained from relevant literature. The results show that the total area of green lanes in Tenggilis Mejoyo is 33,227.5 m², with a carbon storage capacity of 275.35 tonnes. This capacity can only absorb 0.33% of the total carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions from the transport sector in 2019, which amounted to 83,336.73 tonnes, leaving 83,061.38 tonnes/year unabsorbed. An additional 145.97 hectares of GOS are required to offset the remaining carbon emissions. This study also shows that active parks were not included in the carbon stock analysis, which are likely to increase the overall contribution to carbon sequestration. Therefore, further research on carbon stocks in active parks within Tenggilis Mejoyo is highly recommended. The results of this study are expected to serve as a basis for environmental policy planning and more effective GOS management in Surabaya.

Abstract

A company's warehousing has a significant impact on the smooth flow of materials, both in storage and in distribution. An effective warehousing system ensures that materials are available on time and in the required condition. The implementation of lean manufacturing in warehouse management aims to reduce waste and improve operational efficiency. This study was conducted in the warehouse of PT XYZ, which was facing challenges in the material picking workflow due to sub-optimal storage layouts. The methods used included initial workflow analysis, waste identification and the application of lean manufacturing strategies such as storage centralisation and layout optimisation. The results showed that this approach successfully reduced material retrieval time from 12 minutes to 8 minutes and travel distance from 173 metres to 115 metres. In addition, storage space requirements were minimised by freeing up several racks for other materials. The implementation of Lean Manufacturing has significantly improved PT XYZ's warehouse productivity by creating a more efficient and organised workflow.

Abstract

Workplace accidents are a serious problem that can result in physical injury, economic loss and a negative impact on business productivity. Inadequate use of personal protective equipment (PPE) or lack of safety supervision often contribute to the occurrence of workplace accidents. Although many organisations have implemented various safety policies, challenges remain in reducing the number of accidents. This study aims to analyse the impact of safety supervision and the use of PPE on workplace accident statistics at PT XYZ. The methodology used is a descriptive quantitative approach with correlation analysis, using primary data from interviews with HSE staff and secondary data from annual HSE reports during the period 2020-2023. The results show a decrease in the number of workplace accidents from 41 cases in 2020 to 20 cases in 2023, as well as a decrease in the frequency rate (FR) from 10.92 to 5.85 per million working hours. However, the negative Safe T score indicates that accident prevention programmes have not significantly changed the overall results. Recommendations from this study include increasing the intensity of safety inspections, developing ongoing training programmes for employees, and promoting interdepartmental collaboration to create a safer work environment.

Abstract

This study analyses the management of raw material inventory at PT Berkah Anugerah Inti Semesta using the Min-Max Stock method. This study aims to identify problems in inventory control that often result in overstocking and understocking, which affects operational efficiency and storage costs. The research methods include observation and interviews to collect data on the use and purchase of raw materials over a period of time. The results showed that the application of the Min-Max Stock method was able to reduce the risk of raw material shortages and significantly reduce storage costs. The determination of safety stock, minimum and maximum stock levels provides companies with clear guidance on how to maintain stock levels. These findings confirm the importance of an efficient inventory management strategy to improve smooth production and the company's competitiveness in the market. This research is expected to be a reference for other companies facing similar challenges, providing insights into effective inventory control practices.

Abstract

The uncertain amount of raw materials greatly affects the smoothness of production in a company and the amount of production output, thus encouraging researchers to conduct research on raw material inventory control. PT. Gajah Surya Plastik, is a company engaged in plastic recycling. Companies need to know the minimum stock of raw materials that must be held and the maximum stock limit that the company can hold in order for the raw material supply to be optimal. The min-max stock method was used to determine the maximum and minimum stock levels of the company's clear PET plastic raw materials. This research was carried out using primary data on the company's raw materials and interviews with related parties. From the research, the results of the data processing are that the minimum stock limit is 38,254 kg and the maximum raw material stock limit is 67,309 kg. With a safety stock value of 9199 kg. In addition, the raw material consumption for the next period is forecast with minimum error using the exponential smoothing method. The results of this research minimise the occurrence of stockouts and overstocks of clear PET plastic raw materials, so that production runs optimally.
