Abstract

This study aims to describe the utilization of the TikTok social media application in musical activities as a form of artistic expression in the public spaces of Palembang City. The study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method and was conducted in the Ampera Bridge area, one of the city's busiest public spaces that is frequently used for artistic activities. The research subjects were musicians who performed musical activities while conducting live streaming through the TikTok application in public spaces. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that TikTok is utilized as a medium for broadcasting musical activities to a wider audience and facilitating interaction between musicians and both physical and digital audiences. TikTok-based musical activities in public spaces can be understood as a form of artistic expression that reflects the creativity, identity, and social experiences of musicians. Therefore, the use of TikTok in musical activities within public spaces expands the scope of artistic expression from physical spaces to digital environments and creates new patterns of interaction between musicians and audiences.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using Digital Interactive Boards (DIB) on fifth-grade elementary school students’ literacy comprehension of intrinsic elements. The main problem in this study is the low ability of students to understand the intrinsic elements of texts due to the use of less interactive learning methods. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of two classes, namely the control class and the experimental class, selected using a cluster random sampling technique. The instrument used was a test of comprehension of the intrinsic elements of texts. The results showed that the average score of the experimental class increased significantly from 55.15 to 92.08, while the control class increased from 54.47 to 68.13. The paired sample t-test results indicated a significant improvement in both groups, but the improvement was higher in the experimental class. In addition, the independent sample t-test results showed a significant difference between the two groups (Sig. < 0.05). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of Digital Interactive Boards (DIB) has a significant effect on improving students’ literacy comprehension of intrinsic elements. This study implies that the integration of technology in learning can improve the effectiveness and equity of students’ learning outcomes. Therefore, DIB can be used as an innovative alternative learning medium to improve the quality of Indonesian language learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study evaluates the quality of Qur’an memorization based on fahmil (understanding) at SDIT Plus Usman Bin Ali Medan. The research is motivated by the tendency of tahfizh learning to emphasize memorization quantity rather than comprehension and internalization of Qur’anic values. A qualitative evaluative approach using the CIPP model (Context, Input, Process, Product) was employed. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving principals, tahfizh teachers, students, and parents. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that fahmil-based evaluation has been implemented by integrating meaning comprehension into memorization activities. Students are assessed not only on memorization fluency but also on understanding and interpretation of verses. This approach improves memorization quality and religious character. However, challenges remain, including the absence of standardized assessment instruments and limited teacher competence in Qur’anic interpretation skills.

Abstract

The advancement of technology in the fourth industrial revolution era has made learning digitalization an urgent priority in primary schools, yet infrastructure limitations remain a significant challenge. SDN 1 Sido Makmur received a single 75-inch Interactive Flat Panel (IFP) unit as a government grant under the national school digitalization program. This study aimed to obtain an in-depth understanding of the IFP implementation process, its supporting and inhibiting factors, and its contribution to learning digitalization at SDN 1 Sido Makmur. A descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Subjects were determined through purposive sampling, comprising the school principal, three classroom teachers, and six students. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model and validated through triangulation. The findings revealed that the single IFP limitation was addressed through a structured rotation schedule, ensuring equitable classroom access and organically fostering a teacher material-sharing community. Planned IFP use increased student motivation, material visualization quality, and active participation, particularly in IPAS and Mathematics. Implementation success was driven more by transformational leadership and teacher collaboration culture than by device quantity. Government IFP programs will have greater impact when accompanied by management guidance and continuous TPACK training.

Abstract

The increasing integration of digital tools in education prompts questions about their effectiveness in enhancing key language skills, particularly pragmatic competence. Pragmatic competence refers to the ability to use language appropriately in various social contexts, a skill crucial for effective communication. Despite the growing integration of technology in language learning, there remains a gap in developing students’ ability to use language appropriately in real-life interactions, particularly in non-native English contexts. Purpose: This study aims to investigate the role of Articulate Storyline, an interactive digital tool, in enhancing pragmatic competence among elementary school students (ages 10-12) in Indonesia. Specifically, it investigated how Articulate Storyline can stimulate students’ use of speech acts (locutionary, illocutionary and perlocutionary acts) in real-word communication settings such as the classroom, library and garden. Research Methodology: The study employed a descriptive qualitative research design, using speech act theory as a framework to analyse the pragmatic functions in students’ conversations. Data was collected from 125 students who engaged with Articulate Storyline in their English language lessons. Conversations were transcribed and analysed to identify the frequency and types of speech acts used in different contexts. The study focuses on how students utilize language in both structured (classroom) and informal (library, garden) settings. Findings: It is indicated that Articulate Storyline significantly enhanced students’ pragmatic competence especially in personal experiences. Conclusion: The study also revealed that conversational context (formal vs informal) played a crucial role in shaping types of speech acts, collaborative, critical and learning engagement.
