Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Sendang Gile tourism on the behavior of junior high school students at SMPN 3 Bayan, North Lombok Regency, during the 2022/2023 academic year. Tourism in the Bayan area not only provides economic impacts but also social and cultural consequences, particularly on adolescent behavior. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and documentation. The results revealed that tourism significantly influenced student behavior, both positively and negatively. Positive impacts included improved communication skills, openness, and enthusiasm for learning foreign languages. Negative impacts involved tendencies to imitate tourist lifestyles that are inconsistent with local norms. Supporting factors included parental, school, and village government support, while inhibiting factors were weak social control and lack of environmental supervision. In conclusion, Sendang Gile tourism plays an important role in shaping student behavior, requiring collaborative efforts among parents, schools, and the community to direct tourism’s influence in a positive direction.

Abstract

This study explores the challenges faced by parents in Bejelo Hamlet, Jonggat District, Central Lombok, in sending their children to higher education during the 2022/2023 academic year. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with parents, students, teachers, and community leaders, alongside documentation from schools and relevant institutions. Data analysis followed an interactive process involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results reveal three primary issues: (1) economic constraints, as most parents are farmers with limited income; (2) motivational factors, where some children lack the drive to continue their studies and prefer work; and (3) informational barriers, with parents having limited knowledge of higher education and scholarship opportunities. The study concludes that significant structural and cultural barriers remain in pursuing higher education. A collaborative effort among schools, local governments, communities, and families is essential to foster a more supportive educational environment. Recommendations include need-based scholarships, increased awareness of higher education, and career guidance at the secondary school level.

Abstract

This study examines the role of the School Committee in enhancing education quality at MI Hidayatul Atfal Batu Samban, West Lombok, during 2023. Employing a descriptive qualitative method through observation, interviews, and documentation, findings show that the committee performs three essential functions: (1) supporting through financial assistance, infrastructure, and learning activities; (2) advising by providing input for programs and management; and (3) controlling by monitoring program implementation and fund accountability. Key challenges include limited community economic capacity, low parental awareness, and inadequate skills among committee members. To overcome these, the committee strengthens communication with school leadership, promotes self-help initiatives, and encourages community participation. The study highlights the importance of collaboration among committees, school leaders, teachers, and the community, recommending capacity building and stronger regulatory support to sustain improvements.

Abstract

PKBM Ulil Absor in Jago Village, Praya District, Central Lombok Regency, plays a crucial role in improving the quality of life for the community through non-formal education programs, particularly in developing life skills. Programs such as sewing and welding courses provide practical skills that can be directly applied in daily life, helping to reduce unemployment and boost the local economy. Despite its progress, PKBM faces several challenges, including board members holding multiple positions and limited support from the community and government. To ensure the sustainability of the programs, improvements in board professionalism, better community outreach, and increased government support are necessary. This article discusses the role of PKBM Ulil Absor in community empowerment, the challenges it faces in implementation, and offers recommendations for further development to enhance the effectiveness and impact of the programs.

Abstract

The use of celebrity endorsement is an effective strategy in digital marketing communication to attract attention and shape consumer attitudes. This study examines the effect of celebrity endorsement @rachelvennya on purchasing decisions for Tsaqawa Official fashion products. Using a quantitative approach with an explanatory research type, data was collected through a survey of 100 respondents. The results of the analysis show that celebrity endorsement has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions, as evidenced by a significance value of 0.000 <0.05 and a correlation of 0.876. This research applies AIDA theory, source credibility theory, and Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) concepts to understand the mechanism of influence. The Respondent Achievement Rate (TCR) on the perception of Rachel Vennya's celebrity endorsement is also in the good category. These findings reinforce that celebrity endorsements can increase attention, interest, desire, and drive purchasing decisions, while building a strong emotional connection between brands and consumers, especially on social media platforms such as Instagram.

Abstract

This article explores the role of social media in the dissemination and adaptation of South Jakarta slang (commonly known as Bahasa Gaul Jaksel) in Indonesia. The study employs a qualitative sociolinguistic approach, using documentation analysis based on screenshots of conversations on social media platforms. The findings reveal that Jaksel slang functions not only as a means of communication but also as a symbol of social status, identity, and modern cultural expression. Social media plays a crucial role in spreading this linguistic style, with platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok serving as primary spaces where young people adopt new terms, engage in code-switching, and popularize English loanwords. Jaksel slang is characterized by the frequent use of English words such as literally, healing, or party, which are often adapted into everyday conversations. This phenomenon reflects both linguistic creativity and the social need among adolescents to appear trendy, follow current fashions, and gain acceptance within peer groups. Moreover, the use of Jaksel slang enhances self-confidence, expands social networks, and contributes to the construction of a social identity perceived as more modern and sophisticated. Nevertheless, alongside these positive dynamics of vocabulary enrichment and communicative flexibility, concerns arise that the dominance of global elements may erode local cultural identity. Overall, Jaksel slang represents a tangible manifestation of language hybridization in the era of globalization. It serves as a site of negotiation between local and global values, while highlighting the pivotal role of social media as a driver in shaping the linguistic identity of Indonesia’s younger generation. This phenomenon deserves ongoing scholarly attention, as it reflects broader social, cultural, and communicative transformations amid increasingly intensive global flows.

Abstract

The Kiput of northern Sarawak, a small yet culturally significant indigenous group of about 450 people, remains understudied. Living in two settlements, Kuala Tutoh (mainly Christian) and Kampung Benawa (mainly Muslim), they navigate ethnic identity maintenance amid assimilation pressures and internal religious diversity. Using community-based ethnography, which incorporates participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and archival materials, this study employs thematic analysis with member checking to ensure community-grounded interpretations. Findings show that Kiput identity is sustained through shared historical memory, linguistic distinctiveness, and material culture, while religious affiliation is the primary organising principle shaping settlement patterns, livelihoods, and ritual life. Despite religious divergence, ethnic identification remains cohesive through enduring kinship ties. Younger members express reduced engagement with traditional markers yet selectively sustain aspects of their heritage. Cultural continuity persists alongside adaptive strategies, although structural factors such as state schooling, market pressures, and limited economic opportunities constrain intergenerational transmission, especially of the Kiput language. The study recommends strengthening indigenous land rights, reforming language education, supporting community-led heritage initiatives, and ensuring participatory development planning. The Kiput case reflects broader challenges faced by minority indigenous groups in Borneo as national development transforms ancestral landscapes and subsistence systems.

Abstract

Islamic education plays a fundamental role in shaping students’ personality, morality, and mindset so that they become insan kamil—individuals who are knowledgeable, faithful, and virtuous. This article provides a comprehensive discussion of teaching methods, strategies, approaches, and standardization in Islamic education within the digital era. The study employs a qualitative approach through library research, analyzing academic literature, journals, and previous studies. Findings reveal that the effectiveness of Islamic education depends on the synergy of four key components: methods, strategies, approaches, and standardization. Teaching methods include habituation, memorization, practice, interactive lectures, and blended learning. These methods function not only as tools for knowledge transfer but also as means of internalizing moral and spiritual values. Learning strategies emphasize the integration of Islamic values with modern contexts, adaptation to technology, and participatory approaches that encourage active student involvement. Contextual and humanistic approaches strengthen the relevance of Islamic teachings to contemporary social and cultural dynamics. The integration of digital technology—such as e-learning, Islamic applications, and interactive multimedia—has been shown to enhance student motivation, collaboration, and critical thinking, though it also presents ethical challenges such as digital distractions and reduced spiritual interaction. Standardization ensures the quality, direction, and consistency of Islamic education while remaining adaptive to societal changes. Overall, the study concludes that ideal Islamic education is holistic, balancing cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, and capable of producing globally competitive Muslim generations without losing their Islamic identity. Thus, the development of methods, strategies, approaches, and standardization rooted in Qur’anic values and supported by digital technology is essential to achieving the true goals of Islamic education.

Abstract

One of the traditions that is still preserved by the Javanese people to this day is the celebration of Malam Suro. This tradition is a commemoration of the Islamic New Year 1 Muharram which has a mystical, sacred and symbolic meaning. The study discusses how to implement the tradition of malam satu suro from a Javanese cultural perspective. This tradition is closely related to the myths and beliefs of the Javanese people. Malam Suro Satu is believed to bring a calm, peaceful and serene life. When carrying out the Suro Satu Malam ritual tradition, it is believed that blessings will come down from the Almighty for those who celebrate it in the form of a thanksgiving. This tradition is carried out from generation to generation from ancestors and then preserved from generation to generation. Research Objectives This aims to understand the meaning and symbolism of the Malam Satu Suro tradition in the context of Javanese people's lives. The specific objectives are to describe the phenomena, events, and perceptions associated with this tradition, and to analyze how this tradition functions as a means to strengthen the cultural and spiritual identity of the Javanese people. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method: This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, which aims to describe the phenomena, events, social activities, attitudes, and perceptions of the community related to the Malam Satu Suro tradition. Data Collection Techniques Documentation: Data is collected through relevant documents. Researchers collect, identify, and analyze documents to obtain the necessary information. Analysis and Synthesis: After the data is collected, researchers conduct analysis and synthesis to understand the meaning and context of the information obtained.
