Abstract

educational quality, particularly through enhancing teacher professionalism as a central determinant of effective teaching and learning outcomes. In the context of Islamic senior high schools, the implementation of quality management requires adaptive strategies aligned with institutional characteristics. This study aims to analyze the implementation of quality management in enhancing teacher professionalism in two leading Islamic senior high schools in Indonesia. This study employed a qualitative approach with a multi-case study design conducted at SMA Unggulan Badridduja and SMA Syekh Abdul Qodir Al-Jailani. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis involving school leaders, teachers, and administrative staff. Data analysis was conducted using cross-case analysis to identify patterns, similarities, and contextual differences in the implementation of quality management practices across both institutions. The findings indicate that both schools have systematically implemented quality management components, including strategic planning, continuous professional development, and structured performance evaluation. However, differences were identified in their implementation focus. SMA Unggulan Badridduja prioritizes curriculum innovation and academic excellence, while SMA Syekh Abdul Qodir Al-Jailani emphasizes strengthening organizational culture and enhancing parental engagement in educational processes. The study concludes that effective quality management implementation significantly contributes to improving teacher professionalism, which positively impacts instructional quality and student learning outcomes. These findings highlight the importance of contextualizing quality management practices to institutional needs to achieve sustainable educational improvement.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Arabic oral and written examinations and their contribution to curriculum enhancement at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Putri Kampus 1. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis involving Arabic teachers, curriculum coordinators, language supervisors, and students. The findings reveal that oral and written assessments function not only as evaluative instruments but also as strategic mechanisms for strengthening communicative competence, academic literacy, language discipline, and institutional language culture. Oral examinations reinforce students’ speaking fluency, confidence, and spontaneous communication skills through authentic interaction, while written examinations develop grammatical mastery, reading comprehension, analytical thinking, and academic writing proficiency. Furthermore, assessment outcomes are systematically utilized as feedback for curriculum refinement, instructional improvement, vocabulary reinforcement, and extracurricular language programs. The study demonstrates that Arabic language assessment in pesantren education reflects a holistic and competency-based curriculum model integrating cognitive, communicative, and behavioral dimensions of language learning. This research contributes theoretically to the discourse of Arabic language assessment and practically offers implications for developing authentic, integrative, and sustainable assessment systems in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contribution of Muhammadiyah in fostering social harmonization within a multicultural society through the implementation of the wasathiyah (religious moderation) approach. The research was conducted in Muhammadiyah-affiliated educational institutions and surrounding communities in Indonesia, particularly in areas characterized by cultural, religious, and social diversity. This study employed a qualitative research design using a case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with educators and community leaders, direct observations of educational and social activities, and analysis of institutional documents. The data were then analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns and meanings related to the application of wasathiyah values. The findings indicate that Muhammadiyah plays a strategic role in promoting social harmony through inclusive education practices, transformative and enlightening da’wah, community-based social services, and active participation in national and civic engagement. The wasathiyah approach is manifested in the integration of religious commitment, humanitarian values, and national identity, which contributes to reducing potential social conflicts and strengthening mutual respect among diverse groups. Additionally, this study finds the development of a contextual learning model in Muhammadiyah schools that systematically incorporates moderation values into both curriculum and daily practices. In conclusion, Muhammadiyah serves not only as a religious and educational organization but also as an agent of peace that significantly contributes to building and sustaining social harmonization in Indonesia’s multicultural society.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of collaborative supervision based on lesson study in enhancing teacher professionalism and improving learning quality in alignment with global educational priorities such as SDG 4 promoted by the United Nations. The background of this research is grounded in the persistent limitations of traditional supervisory practices, which tend to be hierarchical and evaluative rather than developmental. This study employed a qualitative case study design, involving classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns across supervisory practices and instructional improvement. The findings reveal that multi-directional collaboration fosters professional dialogue and shared responsibility among teachers and school leaders. Furthermore, the integration of the lesson study cycle (Plan–Do–See) into supervision creates a systematic and continuous process of professional learning. Additionally, the shift toward a learning-centered focus enables teachers to better understand student engagement and learning processes. Evidence-based practices also demonstrate measurable improvements in learning quality, including student participation and instructional variation. These findings contribute to the development of a comprehensive supervision model that integrates collaboration, systematic cycles, and data-driven practices.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Arabic Master of Ceremony (MC) workshops as a form of curriculum innovation in enhancing communicative competence among female students at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Putri Campus 1. The research employed a qualitative case study approach involving language coordinators, workshop instructors, teachers, and female students selected purposively based on their participation in the program. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings reveal that Arabic MC workshops function not only as extracurricular activities but also as performance-based learning strategies integrated into the pesantren curriculum and institutional culture. The workshops contributed significantly to improving students’ Arabic speaking fluency, public speaking confidence, leadership skills, and organizational participation through authentic communicative practices. Furthermore, the program operated as a hidden curriculum transmitting discipline, responsibility, communication ethics, and institutional values through mentoring and collective participation. The study concludes that Arabic MC workshops represent an innovative educational model integrating communicative language teaching, experiential learning, and character formation within Islamic boarding school education. This study contributes theoretically to curriculum innovation discourse and practically offers an alternative model for performance-based Arabic language learning in pesantren contexts.

Abstract

Public speaking anxiety is a significant psychological barrier for students, but the role of overthinking and its relationship with self-confidence has never been studied in an integrated manner. This study aims to explore in depth students' subjective experiences related to public speaking anxiety triggered by overthinking and its impact on self-confidence. Using a qualitative method with a transcendental phenomenological design, data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews and analysis using epoche, horizonalitation, theme reduction, and textural, structural, and essential descriptions. The results of the study showed that anxiety manifested multi-layered in the physiological, cognitive, and behavioral dimensions triggered by Fear of Negative Evaluation (FNE). Overthinking operates as repetitive negative thinking (RNT) in the anticipatory, active (mind blank), and ruminative phases after performance. It was also found that a reciprocal relationship (vicious cycle) where low self-confidence triggers overthinking, which then gradually erodes students' self-confidence. Despite Islamic spirituality, this mechanism has not been well structured. This research implies the importance of a holistic psychoeducational intervention program that integrates cognitive reconstruction and spiritual values.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Joyful Learning-based Independent Curriculum in early childhood learning in playgroups. Child-centered, enjoyable, non-pressuring early childhood learning that is in line with children's developmental characteristics is crucial. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study. The research subjects included the principal, group B teachers, and students aged 4–5 years. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was obtained through triangulation of sources and techniques. The results showed that the implementation of the Joyful Learning-based Independent Curriculum at KB Darul Ilmi took place through a curriculum orientation that was in line with the institution's vision, flexible learning planning, the use of varied media, the application of a center model, providing activity choices, and the implementation of child-centered learning. Teachers acted as facilitators who created a safe atmosphere, provided positive reinforcement, instilled character, and conducted authentic assessments through observation, anecdotal notes, photo documentation, work results, and narrative reports. Supporting factors for implementation include principal leadership, teacher competence, instructional media, and a conducive learning environment. Key challenges include parents' perceptions of instant literacy, time management, and classroom structure.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the process of internalizing gratitude and its role in minimizing envy among tenth-grade students at Miftahul Huda Ngreco Islamic Senior High School. The study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving five students and one Akidah Akhlak teacher. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by triangulation and member checking to ensure validity. The findings show that envy among students appears in three forms, namely envy toward physical appearance and material possessions, academic achievement and intellectual ability, and spiritual quality. The emergence of envy is influenced by social comparison, low self-acceptance, social media exposure, and peer environment. The madrasah internalizes gratitude through instructional integration, reflective learning, habituation, and teacher modeling. The internalization process occurs across cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions, leading to changes in students’ mindset, emotional stability, and actions. The results indicate that gratitude effectively reduces envy by decreasing social comparison, increasing self-acceptance, and fostering positive social relationships. This article implies that gratitude can function as both a religious value and a psychological strategy in character education to minimize negative emotions among students.

Abstract

Differences in learning ecology, social interaction patterns, and culture between Islamic boarding schools and universities often lead to culture shock among new students who are alumni of Islamic boarding schools. This condition not only impacts psychological aspects but also influences the academic and social adjustment process. This study aims to examine the adaptation strategies used by new students who are alumni of Islamic boarding schools in dealing with these conditions in higher education. The method used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The research subjects consisted of 20 new students who were alumni of Islamic boarding schools selected through a purposive sampling technique. The results show that students experience three main forms of culture shock: changes in learning systems and relationship patterns, the existence of stereotypes regarding identity, and shifts in views regarding gender roles. To overcome these, students develop various adaptation strategies, including academic strategies such as independent learning and self-regulated learning, social strategies through strengthening relationships and communication, cultural strategies in the form of identity negotiation, and psychological strategies such as resilience, self-reflection, and intrinsic motivation. These findings indicate that culture shock is not only an obstacle but also plays a role in the transformation process that strengthens students' academic and social identities.
