Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of emotional and spiritual factors in parents' decision to choose an Islamic school, with a focus on Madrasah. This study uses a qualitative method with an exploratory-interpretive approach, through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with parents of students and the school. The results of the study showed that parents' decisions were influenced by emotional factors, such as concerns about negative environmental influences, and spiritual factors, which included expectations for the formation of Islamic morals and the blessings of education. The two work simultaneously and complement each other, which leads to the decision to choose a school that not only provides academic education, but also prioritizes religious values. These findings also show that tahfidz Islamic boarding schools are a concrete manifestation of the integration of emotional and spiritual factors in parental decisions. This study concludes that in-depth religious education and strong character development are the main considerations for parents in choosing a school. The implication of this study is that the marketing strategy of Islamic education needs to consider the emotional and spiritual dimensions, in addition to the academic aspect, to attract parents' interest in choosing an educational institution

Abstract

This study is motivated by an epistemological crisis in modern Islamic education, characterized by the dominance of secular paradigms and the emergence of a dichotomy between religious and general sciences. This condition calls for a reconstruction of educational concepts rooted in the Islamic intellectual tradition. This research aims to analyze the concept of ta’dib in the thought of Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas and its implications for contemporary Islamic education systems. The method employed is qualitative research based on library research, using a content analysis approach on Al-Attas’ major works. The findings indicate that the concept of ta’dib is the most comprehensive educational framework, as it integrates the dimensions of knowledge, faith, and adab into a unified whole. In contrast to ta’lim and tarbiyah, which tend to be partial, ta’dib emphasizes the formation of a civilized human being (insan adabi) as the primary goal of education. Furthermore, Al-Attas criticizes secularism as the main cause of the educational crisis and proposes the Islamization of knowledge as a solution. The implications of this study suggest that the Islamic education system needs to be reconstructed by positioning adab as the fundamental foundation in both curriculum design and the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to map strategies for integrating Islamic boarding school (pesantren) curricula with the implementation of digital learning in enhancing the quality of Islamic education in the Society 5.0 era. Employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method guided by the PRISMA framework, this study analyzes 27 scholarly articles indexed in SINTA and Scopus published between 2020 and 2026. The findings of the literature synthesis reveal that the integration strategy is implemented through a subject-based curriculum model that aligns kitab kuning (classical Islamic texts) with digital competency standards without compromising the distinctive identity of pesantren. The digital ecosystem is developed through the adoption of smart classrooms, digital edutainment, and adaptive instructional leadership. Despite challenges such as infrastructure disparities and cultural resistance, managerial solutions through the boarding school model and digitally based academic supervision have proven effective in mitigating these risks. This study concludes that the transformation of the quality of Islamic education depends on the institutional capacity to balance spiritual traditions with globally competitive 21st-century skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Customer Perceived Value (CPV) in Islamic education management by integrating academic service quality with blessing orientation, highlighting both functional and spiritual dimensions of student experience. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, with data collected through documentation, observation, and semi-structured interviews. Analysis followed systematic stages of data reduction, data display, and verification, using content analysis, discourse analysis, and interpretive approaches to capture both rational and experiential insights. Findings indicate that academic service quality significantly contributes to student satisfaction and comfort, while blessing orientation encompasses meaning, serenity, and depth of the learning experience. The integration of these dimensions produces a holistic CPV, extending beyond conventional functional aspects to include emotional and spiritual elements. The study underscores the importance for Islamic educational institutions to harmonize service quality with spiritual values to enhance the overall educational experience, providing a foundation for designing policies and strategies that address students’ comprehensive needs, fostering meaningful, contextually relevant, and spiritually enriching learning environments.

Abstract

This study analyzes the institutionalization of pesantren (Islamic boarding school) values within regional governance to construct a religious society. Using a qualitative ethnographic case study, the research explores how local government policies transform traditional religious ethics into formal legal frameworks. Data were gathered through participant observation, document analysis, and in-depth interviews with cross-sectoral stakeholders, including legislative leaders, executive bureaucrats, and spiritual authorities. Findings reveal that the integration of pesantren values transcends symbolic programming, manifesting as a hybrid governance model that synergizes bureaucratic rationality with transcendental authority. The formalization of these values into local legislation has reconfigured public compliance, where civic duty now intersects with spiritual loyalty. This process facilitates a "collective habitus" that projects pesantren ethics into the public sphere (from pesantren to polis). Theoretically, this research proposes the “Triangle of Authority” paradigm—a conceptual framework connecting legal-rational governance, charismatic-religious leadership, and socio-cultural identity. This study argues that the sustainability of religious-based public policy depends on the state’s ability to synchronize formal instruments with the ethical gatekeeping of religious elites. These insights offer a significant contribution to the discourse on state-religion synergy and character education policy in contemporary Muslim-majority societies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how transforming traditional da'wah through the use of digital marketing can increase the effectiveness of Islamic education, both in terms of disseminating knowledge and reaching a wider audience. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with literature review and in-depth interviews. Data was collected through relevant sources such as scientific articles, books, and discussions with digital da'wah practitioners and Islamic educators. The results show that integrating traditional da'wah with digital marketing can expand access to Islamic education, accelerate the dissemination of information, and enhance interaction with audiences. The use of digital platforms such as social media, blogs, and podcasts can attract the interest of the younger generation to become more actively involved in da'wah activities and Islamic education. The implication of this study is that traditional da'wah needs to adapt to technological developments to increase its effectiveness. The use of digital marketing in the context of Islamic education opens new opportunities for broader dissemination of knowledge and creates innovative ways for Muslims to learn and interact with da'wah.

Abstract

Contemporary Islamic education faces critical challenges, including the dichotomy of knowledge, moral degradation, and the weakening of educational authority amid unfiltered globalization. This study aims to analyze the educational thought of K.H. Imam Zarkasyi as an alternative solution and to formulate an integrative conceptual model for contemporary Islamic education. Specifically, it examines curriculum conceptualization, teaching methods, and the repositioning of educators’ roles. The research is situated within Islamic educational thought, particularly pesantren-based education, focusing on the Kulliyatul Mu’allimin al-Islamiyah (KMI) system. It employs a qualitative approach using a library research model, drawing on primary and secondary sources. Data are collected through documentation and analyzed descriptively to construct a systematic understanding. The findings reveal that Imam Zarkasyi developed an integrative curriculum based on the principle of “100% religious and 100% general knowledge,” effectively eliminating the dichotomy of science. His pedagogical approach emphasizes holistic learning through exemplary conduct (uswah hasanah) and a continuous educational environment (bi’ah tarbawiyah). Moreover, educators are repositioned not merely as instructors, but as mu’allim, murabbi, and mu’addib grounded in the values of the Panca Jiwa. These findings underline the relevance of his thought in addressing contemporary educational challenges and fostering intellectually and morally grounded Muslim generations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the digital content utilization strategy at Madrasah as an effort to modernize and increase the competitiveness of the educational institution. Using a qualitative approach through observation, documentation analysis, and in-depth interviews, this study explores the process of planning, producing, and distributing content across various digital platforms. The results show that the digital content strategy is implemented systematically through collaborative coordination meetings and content curation that combines religious identity with digital trends. Optimizing social media platforms and websites has proven effective in expanding the reach of information and changing public perception of the madrasah from a conventional one to a more modern, transparent, and competitive institution. In addition to the external impact of strengthening the image and trust of parents, this study also found a significant internal impact, namely increasing teachers' digital literacy, which has positive implications for the quality of classroom teaching. In conclusion, targeted digital content management is a strategic necessity for madrasahs to maintain relevance and competitive advantage amidst the dynamics of competition in today's educational institutions.

Abstract

This study analyzes the digital branding strategies of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) to increase the attractiveness of prospective students through a literature review approach. The era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and the development of digital technology have encouraged Islamic boarding schools to adapt by utilizing digital media such as websites, social media, and digital da'wah content as strategic tools to build a positive image, expand the reach of information, and increase public trust. This strategy encompasses not only the visual aspects and identity of the institution, but also the display of religious values, culture, the character of the kiai (Islamic scholars), and innovation in content presentation. Social media such as Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook have become primary platforms for effective two-way communication, supporting the branding process, and building emotional relationships with the community. However, the implementation of digital branding in Islamic boarding schools faces challenges such as limited human resources, digital literacy, and professional content management. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating Islamic values with technological innovation to maintain the relevance of Islamic boarding schools in the digital era and strengthen the institution's competitiveness and reputation. It is hoped that the results of this study will provide a systematic and comprehensive overview of Islamic boarding school digital branding practices as an important strategy in attracting prospective students and building a positive image in the eyes of the community.
