Abstract

In the Tamalanrea sub-district area, when heavy rain fell on Makassar City, there were many locations where roads were flooded with water. As happened in the Perintis area, precisely on Jalan Perintis Independen (in front of door 1 Unhas), there was a puddle of water caused by the drainage channel not functioning optimally because the drainage channel was blocked and also unable to accommodate the high enough water flow. Hydrological analysis carried out Qcapacity calculations using the Manning formula and the results were compared with the requirements Qcapacity > Qplan to determine the capacity capacity of each channel section. The results of the research analysis showed that Qs = 0.529 < Qt = 0.762 for the left side drainage channel and Qs = 0.474 < Qt = 0.698 for the right side drainage channel was proven to be unable to carry the planned discharge so changes in dimensions were made to accommodate the existing discharge.

Abstract

The increasing population in Makassar City each year has led to a rise in the number of motor vehicle drivers. This study aims to analyze intersections and provide solutions. At the T-junction of Jalan Abdullah Daeng Sirua and Jalan Adyaksa Baru, delays arise due to side obstacles, including vehicles entering and exiting from Jalan Inspeksi Kanal, as well as the presence of restaurants, businesses, and service providers along the intersection’s edges. Limited parking spaces cause many vehicles to stop haphazardly. Another cause of congestion at this intersection is the narrow Daeng Sirua Bridge, which creates traffic jams along the stretch of road at the T-junction of Jalan Abdullah Daeng Sirua and Jalan Adyaksa Baru. To address these issues, solutions include road widening, bridge expansion, and reconfiguration of traffic lights at the intersection. The Level of Service (LOS) at the current conditions shows Approach Code A (Jalan Abdullah Daeng Sirua) rated as D, Approach Code B (Jalan Abdullah Daeng Sirua) rated as F, and Approach Code C (Jalan Adyaksa Baru) rated as C.

Abstract

The Pare-Pare – Sidrap road section is a National Road that connects several districts/cities in South Sulawesi Province, such as Enrekang, Tanah Toraja, Wajo and Soppeng Regencies. Apart from that, there are also vehicles that use this road to the provinces of Southeast Sulawesi and Central Sulawesi, so that many two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles pass through it, both light and heavy vehicles. Rapid economic growth triggers increasing growth in traffic volumes and vehicles with excessive loads lead to a decrease in road service life. This research aims to analyze the impact of traffic volume and estimated vehicle weight on road service life on the Pare-Pare – Sidrap road section and analyze the type of damage. This research is a cumulative analysis of Equivalent Single Axle Load for 10 years. The results of this research show that the Cumulative Equivalent Single Axle Load overload value is 33,376,700.74, which is greater than the planned Cumulative Equivalent Single Axle Load of 22,391,758.83. So there was a reduction in the plan age of 2.66 years, which should have been 10 years to 7.34 years. The types of damage found on these road sections are potholes, crocodile cracks, longitudinal cracks, grain release, depression, and bleeding.

Abstract

Flooding is the process of river water overflowing onto land, which can lead to property damage and even loss of life. This study was conducted in Karatuang Village, Bantaeng Regency, aiming to analyze planned flood discharge and flood control for return periods of 2, 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100 years. The analysis used average rainfall data from two rainfall stations: Biangkeke and Pajujukang. Rainfall calculation applied the Log Pearson Type III and Gumbel methods, while frequency distribution suitability was tested with the Chi-Square and Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests. Based on the flood discharge analysis using the Nakayasu Synthetic Unit Hydrograph (HSS) method, results for each return period showed: 2 years at 51.84 m³/s, 5 years at 75.993 m³/s, 10 years at 91.184 m³/s, 25 years at 108.897 m³/s, 50 years at 124.613 m³/s, and 100 years at 138.745 m³/s. For a 2-hour duration, the calculated volume was 220,012 m³, while the check dam’s capacity of 24,750 m³ was insufficient for the 2-year return period. Thus, flood control measures include river normalization by widening and deepening the riverbed to increase capacity.

Abstract

Flooding is the most frequent natural disaster in Indonesia. It is defined as a condition in which a region is submerged by a large volume of water due to high rainfall. Takkalasi Village, through which the Takkalasi River flows, is considered a flood-prone area. Given the recurring floods, a comprehensive study is needed to find solutions. This research was conducted in Barru Regency, specifically in the Takkalasi River, aiming to analyze rainfall intensity and flood discharge for 25, 50, and 100-year return periods, as well as flood control methods. The planned flood discharge was analyzed using the Nakayasu Synthetic Unit Hydrograph (HSS) method, yielding 25-year (Q25) discharge at 77.22 m³/s, 50-year (Q50) at 78.64 m³/s, and 100-year (Q100) at 79.97 m³/s. Analysis showed river overflow at 67.888 m³/s, indicating that when both high tides and continuous rainfall for up to 7 hours occur, flooding affects the Takkalasi area. To mitigate this, the construction of two water gates along the Takkalasi River is necessary to prevent overflow during such events.

Abstract

The use of concrete in construction continues to increase each year, leading to a rise in cement prices as the primary component of concrete. Given this situation, this study aims to reduce cement demand while utilizing waste materials, such as Fly Ash and lime, to partially replace cement. This research examines the effect of partially replacing cement with reduction levels of 5%, 10%, and 15%, substituted with a mixture of Fly Ash and lime in proportions of 75%:25%, 50%:50%, and 25%:75% for each reduction level. The target compressive strength of the normal concrete is 25 MPa. The results indicate that using Fly Ash and lime impacts the compressive and split tensile strength of concrete. At a 5% cement reduction with 75% Fly Ash and 25% lime, the compressive strength increased by 0.74% compared to normal concrete. In split tensile testing, optimal improvement was achieved at a 5% cement reduction with 25% Fly Ash and 75% lime, showing a 1.85% increase compared to normal concrete. This study demonstrates that partially replacing cement with Fly Ash and lime not only reduces cement usage but also enhances concrete performance, making it a promising alternative for sustainable construction.
