Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of a collaborative program for facilities and infrastructure management in creating a child-friendly school, the role of the school principal, and the obstacles encountered during implementation. The study employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a case study method at SDN 09 Teluk Keramat and SDN 22 Mengkudu, Sambas Regency. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis, involving school principals, teachers responsible for facilities and infrastructure, students, and parent representatives. Data validity was verified through source and technique triangulation, while data analysis employed the interactive model developed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The research results indicate that the collaborative program for managing facilities and infrastructure was implemented in a collaborative, structured, and sustainable manner, involving principals, teachers, educational staff, students, parents, and both local and central governments. The nature of each party's contribution varied according to the specific context and needs of each school. Principals played roles as managers, leaders and drivers of change, and innovators. Challenges encountered stemmed from internal school factors, external parties, and students, with contexts varying across schools. These findings underscore the importance of strengthening principal leadership and multi-stakeholder collaboration in the management of facilities and infrastructure to foster a safe, comfortable, and child-friendly school environment.

Abstract

The development of digital teaching materials in Arabic language learning has broadened the use of the term interactive, yet the term does not always refer to the same quality of interaction. This study examines the forms of interactivity found in Arabic language teaching materials, their pedagogical functions, and their implications for material development. The study employs a descriptive-analytical qualitative approach grounded in library research. Literature was selected from publications addressing Arabic language teaching materials, media, and learning activities, and was subsequently analyzed through identification, classification, comparison, and thematic synthesis. The findings reveal three tendencies of interactivity: technical, pedagogical, and communicative. Technical interactivity primarily occurs through learners’ responses to features and content; pedagogical interactivity encourages learners to construct and produce responses; whereas communicative interactivity creates space for Arabic to be used in constructing meaning with others. These three forms may support one another and are not intended as rigid levels. Interactivity also serves to enhance engagement, broaden language processing and production, provide feedback, and create opportunities for communication. This study underscores that digital is not always interactive, and interactive is not always communicative. Accordingly, the development of teaching materials should place pedagogical function above technological sophistication by connecting input, response, feedback, language production, and communication within a coherent sequence of meaningful learning activities.

Abstract

The Business Model Canvas (BMC) is widely used in entrepreneurship education to help students map the nine components of a business model. However, its use remains static and does not fully support the evaluation and improvement of business models. This study aims to develop an interactive, project-based BMC learning medium, namely SMART BMC, for the Digital Entrepreneurship course. The study employs a Research and Development approach by adapting the ADDIE model. The first year focuses on the Analysis, Design, and Development stages. Data were collected through a review of the course syllabus, classroom observations, and a needs assessment questionnaire involving 98 students, and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that 94.9% of students needed a medium to validate their business ideas before completing the BMC, while 93.9% needed a medium that connects theory with real business practices. Based on these needs, SMART BMC was developed by integrating card-based BMC, project scenarios, QR codes, and scoring and feedback mechanisms across the nine BMC elements. This development demonstrates BMC’s potential as an interactive learning medium to support the evaluation and improvement of business models. Implementation and effectiveness testing in the second year are needed to examine its impact on students’ digital entrepreneurship competencies.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Epistemic reasoning constitutes a fundamental component of scientific literacy because it reflects how students construct, evaluate, and justify scientific knowledge through discourse. Objective: This study aims to map the profile of students' epistemic reasoning through the convergence of the Nature of Scientific Knowledge (NOSK) and Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) manifested in argumentative discourse. Methods: The study employed a descriptive qualitative design involving 16 first-year students in the Biology Education Study Program at the University of Lampung. Data were collected through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and analyzed using discourse-based deductive coding across discourse segments. Results: The findings revealed the dominance of the empirical dimension (24.36%) and HOTS analysis (23.08%), whereas the sociocultural dimension (3.85%), creativity (6.41%), HOTS evaluation (8.97%), and HOTS creation (5.13%) remained relatively low, indicating a tendency toward verification-oriented reasoning. Conclusion: Based on the convergence of these empirical findings, this study proposes the Discourse-Based Epistemic Reasoning Theory (DERT) as a middle-range theory explaining that the quality of epistemic reasoning emerges from the interaction between epistemic structures (NOSK) and higher-order cognitive operations (HOTS) manifested through argumentative discourse, with implications for the quality of scientific literacy. This study contributes empirically, methodologically, and conceptually to the advancement of biology education.
