Abstract

Fast food is a practical type of food that is increasingly consumed by university students, including medical students who have dense academic activities. Excessive fast food consumption may affect nutritional status. This study aimed to determine the relationship between fast food consumption and nutritional status among students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang. This was an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design. The subjects were students who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data on fast food consumption were collected using a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), while nutritional status was determined based on Body Mass Index (BMI). Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between fast food consumption and nutritional status among students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang (p < 0.05).

Abstract

Risk for Other-Directed Violence (RODV) is a critical issue in psychiatric nursing that requires rapid emotional regulation. The STOP mindfulness technique (Stop, Take a breath, Observe, Proceed) is a cognitive approach to enhancing patients' self-awareness in managing anger. However, its effectiveness may vary depending on the etiology of RODV. To describe the application of the STOP mindfulness technique in reducing signs and symptoms in RODV patients. This case report design involving four RODV patients. Subjects were categorized into two groups: the Core Problem groupĀ  and the Effect group due to hallucinations. The intervention consisted of six sessions, including three 20-minute STOP training sessions. Evaluation instruments included RODV sign and symptom observation sheets administered before and after the intervention. The core problem group showed a significant reduction in symptoms with 3 points. Conversely, the effect group showed less significant improvement with 2-3 points. The STOP mindfulness technique is highly effective for RODV patients without sensory perception disorders. In RODV patients driven by hallucinations, the intensity of hallucinations acts as a primary barrier to achieving mindfulness. Nurses are advised to stabilize hallucinatory symptoms prior to administering STOP cognitive interventions for optimal outcomes.

Abstract

Acute bronchopneumonia is a major cause of respiratory distress in children, often requiring immediate emergency care. This condition is characterized by airway inflammation and increased secretion production, which can exacerbate shortness of breath. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of nebulization therapy using budesonide on changes in the degree of shortness of breath in patients with acute bronchopneumonia. This study used a case study approach with the application of the nursing process to pediatric patients treated in the emergency department. Data were collected through clinical assessment, observation of respiratory signs, supporting examination results, and evaluation of patient responses before and after nebulization intervention. The results showed clinical improvement characterized by decreased respiratory rate, reduced chest retractions, and increased breathing comfort after nebulization of budesonide. These findings suggest that nebulization of budesonide has the potential to be an effective supportive intervention in helping improve respiratory status in patients with acute bronchopneumonia.
