Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in Indonesia, with risk factors such as unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, and overweight or obesity. This study aimed to evaluate NCD risk factors through blood glucose, uric acid, and total cholesterol measurements in Negeri Leahari, Leitimur Selatan District, Ambon City. A cross-sectional design was used with a convenience sampling technique, involving 138 voluntarily participating individuals. Blood glucose, uric acid, and total cholesterol levels were measured using an AutoCheck device, while data on diet, physical activity, and body mass index were collected through questionnaires. The results showed that 30% of participants had blood glucose levels ≥200 mg/dL, 22% had hyperuricemia, and 26% had total cholesterol levels ≥200 mg/dL. The main contributing factors were unhealthy diet (58%), low physical activity (52%), and a high prevalence of overweight and obesity (38%). Analysis showed a significant relationship between low physical activity and high uric acid levels (p = 0.04), while the relationship between diet and cholesterol and blood glucose levels showed a tendency toward increase, although not statistically significant (p > 0.05). The prevalence of NCD risk factors in Negeri Leahari is relatively high, highlighting the need for education on healthy eating, promotion of adequate physical activity, and routine monitoring of blood glucose, uric acid, and cholesterol levels to reduce the risk of further complications.

Abstract

People with HIV/AIDS not only need medication to reduce physical discomfort, but also need social support to overcome psychological anxiety and restlessness. Social support is critical in maintaining good physical and mental health. This study aims to analyze the social support status of women with HIV/AIDS and explore other factors that affect their quality of life in Kecamatan Patrang, Kabupaten Jember. The research method used was cross-sectional with convenience sampling and data collection through questionnaires with SSRS (Social Support Rating Scale) within three months from March to May 2025, with a sample of 92 women with HIV/AIDS. It is known that there is a significant relationship between emotional support (p = 0.01) and assessment support (p = 0.03), as well as other factors such as the duration of ARV therapy (p = 0.03), with the quality of life of women with HIV/AIDS. These findings are expected to provide a basis for interventions, including the formation of peer-support groups, counseling programs focused on strengthening self-esteem, and training for families and communities to provide appreciation and respect to women with HIV/AIDS, which ultimately improves their health and quality of life.

Abstract

The phenomenon of bullying in the school environment is still a serious problem that has a negative impact on the psychological development of adolescents. Emotional regulation plays an important role in controlling aggressive behavior that can trigger bullying. This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional regulation and bullying incidents in adolescents. The research design used a correlational analytical method with a cross-sectional approach. A sample of 90 grade VII students was taken using a total sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a closed questionnaire, and data analysis used the Spearman Rho test. The results showed that most respondents had a high level of emotional regulation (70%) and a low incidence of bullying (56.7%). There was a significant relationship between emotional regulation and bullying incidents with a p value = 0.016 and a correlation coefficient value of rₛ = -0.253 which indicated a negative relationship direction and sufficient correlation strength. This means that the better the adolescent's emotional regulation ability, the lower the level of involvement in bullying. This finding strengthens the importance of developing emotional regulation skills as a preventive measure against bullying behavior in schools. Further research is recommended to add other external variables such as family or peer influence.

Abstract

The development of information technology has encouraged the implementation of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) to modernize and improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of outpatient services in hospitals. This study aims to analyze the influence of external variables, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude towards using, and behavioral intention to use on the actual Electronic Medical Record system at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital in Surabaya. This study is an analytical observational study with a quantitative approach involving 29 employees as respondents using a questionnaire as a data collection instrument, which was then analyzed using multiple linear regression. Regression tests show that the variables Attitude Towards Using (0.000) and Behavioral Intention To Use (0.000) have a significant effect on the actual use of the system. This means that users' positive attitudes towards the electronic medical record system play a major role in encouraging the adoption and actual use of the system. This implies that the better the users' attitude toward the system, the higher the likelihood that they will consistently use the system in the hospital environment. Psychological factors and users' internal motivation are more decisive in the success of technology adoption than other factors such as experience or direct assessment of benefits.

Abstract

Bullying in boarding schools is a serious issue affecting students’ mental health, social relationships, and academic performance. Boarding schools, especially pesantren in Indonesia, present unique social and institutional contexts that may facilitate bullying. This study conducted a systematic review following PRISMA guidelines. Literature searches were performed in Scopus, ScienceDirect, PubMed, ProQuest, Web of Science, and Google Scholar for studies published between 2020 and 2025. Eligible articles focused on bullying in boarding schools and reported data on prevalence, risk factors, or impacts. Data were synthesized narratively. Bullying is common in boarding schools, including physical, verbal, and relational forms. Key risk factors include low self-esteem, limited resilience, negative parenting styles, unsafe school environments, and peer hierarchies. Bullying was associated with psychological distress, anxiety, depression, peer conflicts, reduced school engagement, and lower academic performance. Prevalence and severity varied across cultural and institutional contexts. Bullying in boarding schools is multifactorial, involving individual, familial, and school-level contributors. Unsafe climates and poor supervision intensify risks, while negative consequences extend beyond immediate harm to long-term mental health, social adjustment, and academic outcomes.

Abstract

Drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis (DR-TB) is a challenging form of TB characterized by resistance to at least rifampicin and isoniazid, requiring the use of complex second-line therapies. This condition is often accompanied by complications that further aggravate the clinical course. The aim of this study was to evaluate the management of DR-TB with complications. This retrospective case study was based on the medical record of a 63-year-old female patient with a history of TB in 2020 who was diagnosed with relapsed DR-TB complicated by hypertension, anemia, and insomnia. The diagnosis was confirmed through a rapid molecular test showing a positive result for Mycobacterium tuberculosis with rifampicin resistance. Initial management included the administration of second-line antibiotics, blood transfusion to address anemia, and supportive care for accompanying symptoms. Following two consecutive positive results, the patient commenced second-line anti-tuberculosis (ATT) therapy according to MDR-TB treatment standards. Evaluation revealed improvement in hemoglobin levels after transfusion, although shortness of breath persisted and required further monitoring. In conclusion, the management of DR-TB with complications requires a multidisciplinary approach tailored to the patient’s clinical condition
