International Research Journal of Business Studies (IRJBS) comprises three constructs. The word “International” refers to our mission to provide readers with relevant fields of study and to involve authors in giving their contributions on an international scale. ”Research Journal” refers to our aim to function as a medium to disseminate research findings regardless of methodological differences. ”Business Studies” refers to the boundary of the fields of studies that we serve i.e. encompassing all disciplines and paradigms related to the studies of any facet of the business. Aim The primary objective of IRJBS is to bridge the gap between theory and practice in the area of business studies by presenting the results of an empirical study, including rigorous research methods, and providing managerial implications to the readers. Scope The IRJBS welcomes manuscripts in business management, which include the areas of strategic management, marketing management, finance management, organization, human resources management, and operations management. Starting Volume 13, Number 2 (2020), IRJBS publishes high-quality articles/papers using rigorous research with questions, evidence, and conclusions that are related to corporate management studies and recent trends that are relevant to business management scholars and business practitioners. More specifically, the IRJBS seeks to publish papers that ask and help to answer important and interesting questions in managing the corporation, develop and/or test theory, replicate prior studies, explore interesting phenomena, review and synthesize existing research, and evaluate the many methodologies used in the corporate management field. We welcome manuscripts in corporations within one geographic and/or across the geographic and business spectrum which include but are not limited to corporate strategy, corporate governance, corporate organization, and human capital, corporate finance, corporate marketing, and the operations aspect of the corporation. Abstract

This study focuses on identifying factors responsible for joining Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) business by the networkers and analysis of satisfaction level of networkers with respect to the mode of association with MLM business. A quantitative methodology with a survey technique was used on 305 selected networkers who operate their MLM business from Kanpur city. Factors responsible for encouraging people to join the MLM business as a networker are explored by the factor analytical approach. An independent T-test was employed to test the proposed hypothesis. This study found that earn income for meeting expenses, source of residual income, low investment and low risk, more leisure time, personality development, better lifestyle, enhance social interaction, and helping others are the key factors that motivate the networkers to join MLM business. Moreover, the networkers involved in MLM business through any mode of the association are equally satisfied with this business.

Abstract

This paper attempts to find the impact of firm performance on annual report readability. This study consists of 15 listed firms on the Ghana Stock Exchange within the period 2008 to 2017. The study applies Gunning Fog Index to measure annual report readability and measures Firm Performance using Return on Assets (ROA) by applying the fixed and random effect method. Per the Hausman test, the random effect method was accepted; the result stated that firm performance positively relates to annual report readability. In addition, the study finds out that corporate governance exerted a negative influence on the readability of the annual report. Finally, the study adopts F-MOLS to test Robustness. Regulators can consider improving and writing plain disclosure laws to improve annual report readability.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to conduct a systematic review on Financial Intermediaries (FI) with a view to review extant discourses, identify gaps and provide directions for future research in this area. The Systematic Assessment Quantitative Technique (SQAT) developed by Australian researchers Catherine Pickering and Jason Anthony Bryn in (2013), was used to identify and review 43 peer- reviewed Financial Intermediaries (FI) articles from ten high quality academic databases. The primary focus of FI articles in this review were on nine themes and two theories were predominant. The various themes developed from literatures were discussed. The findings of this study would look to guide policy planners and managers on the integral role of financial intermediaries in their daily activities stressing how its overarching function cuts across all facets our financial lives.

Abstract

The IT sector is one of the important sectors that contribute to the growth of Indian economy. The Industry adopted many measures to achieve a higher level of performance and to sustain their higher market share; one of such measures is working from Home (WFH). The Covid-19 pandemic badly affected the world economy. Therefore, to sustain the work progress the IT firms across the globe have adopted WFH method. Though there are many studies conducted to identify the challenges of working from home in the early stage of the covid-19. But, there are scant studies those who made attempt to identify the challenges of working from home and changes in these challenges in the persistent covid-19 environment. In the present study it is found that, there are seven challenges remain same as in the early stage of pandemic and eight previously identified challenges have changed into moderate challenges.

Abstract

For about last two years, the whole world is suffering from a novel disease i.e. Covid-19. When it was first diagnosed in China, even the giant health agencies could not predict the severity and spread of this disease. Slowly, when this novel corona virus had an outbreak the countries stopped all kinds of communication be it interstate or intercountry and so the tourism companies started facing huge loss due to lockdown in every single country. In this paper, the stock prices of the multinational tourism companies that operate in India, have been forecasted and using an online learning algorithm known as Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU). As we know that predicting stock prices is not an easy task to do, it requires extensive study of the stock market and intervention of statistical and machine learning models. We will try to spot whether the forecasting before pandemic is better than the forecasting during the pandemic for each of the six leading multinational tourism companies.

Abstract

In the era of the Covid-19 pandemic, all activities are forced to adapt to the Disruption Era, one of which is the education sector. The era of Disruption Covid-19 changed the learning system from face to face to online and did not change the quality of the learning process. Therefore, the Furniture and Wood Processing Industry Polytechnic must create a new framework in order to survive. This study aims to create a new framework that has the perspectives of various stakeholders such as government, industry, academic institutions, certification institutions, students and technological developments. The making of this framework is based on PEST analysis and a drives competitive for universities according to (Panday, 2014). The result of the framework for the Wood Furniture and Processing Industry Polytechnic are implementation health protocol for Covid-19, improvement of facilities dan infrastructure, creating income from teaching factory, SDM adaptation for improvement facilities and infrastructure, and quality assurance of graduates. The next step is to carry out monitoring and evaluation (MONEV) so that the implementation of framework runs according to the references and targets.

Abstract

Remote working is a concept in which the employees do not commute or travel to the Organizations place of work but allows the employees to work outside of the traditional office environment. Employee engagement can be viewed as an attitude of an employee/employee’s a to be productive, to excel and therefore be committed towards the organisation. Remote working applies to a variety of employees especially office or desk-based workers. This paper explores different facets of the remote worker’s persona and provides recommendations and practices to enhance employee engagement of the employees working remotely. Remote work culture is not a new concept, but due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic situation there seems to be a rapid shift of many employees to the remote working model essentially working away from the traditional office ecosystem. This paper examines two aspects of working remotely, a. In regular times b. during a crisis and in both these scenarios how to keep the remote workers engaged and motivated to ensure a minimum if not zero loss of Productivity.

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the term work from home (WFH) has been introduced to refer to a work arrangement in which individual can complete their duties while they are at home. While most flexible work arrangements are a preference, work from home is mandatory. Therefore, the impact of WFH during the Covid-19 pandemic needs to be studied. The total respondent of this study is 337 employees, who are works at home during the pandemic. The results showed that the three main benefits employees might gain during WFH are flexibility, more time with family, and less travel time. On the other side, employees struggle to balance their personal and work life, access to websites or software, and limited devices and workspace. Most of the companies are not ready for the WFH scheme though some of them gave support to employees (e.g., quota subsidy). This research gave some essential suggestions for HR managers in designing remote work for the future.

Abstract

This study is an attempt to assess the impact of Covid-19 and the lockdown pronounced thereof on the Nifty sectoral indices with specific reference to the financial sector indices owing to their significance in the economy. The OLS regression, Granger Causality and Impulse Response Function were estimated to measure the changes in the future responses of Nifty 50 to the changes in the select sectoral indices, namely, Nifty Bank, Nifty Financial Services and Nifty Private Banks and Nifty PSU Banks for the period consisting two sub-periods, i.e., the first sub-period from April 2019 to March 2020 are assumed as the preCovid-19 period and the second sub-period from April 2020 to March 2021 is assumed as the period during Covid-19. The results indicated that the shock of the Covid-19 had an impact on the financial sector indices in India during the Covid-19 period.

Abstract

This study examines coffee shops’ marketing mix and its impact towards customer satisfaction and word of mouth. Also, analyzing customer satisfaction mediates the relationship between the marketing mix and word of mouth. This study used a quantitative approach with 100 sampling of coffee shop’s customers across Malang City. Primary data collection is done by distributing questioner contained with several questions using a Likert scale to the respondents, while secondary data is obtained from literature studies. For analyzing the data, this study applied descriptive analysis and statistical analysis employed WarpPLS 7.0 software to perform the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) analysis. This study proves that marketing mix has a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction, and the same relationship was found between the marketing mix and word of mouth. An important finding from this study is that customer satisfaction plays a mediating role between marketing mix and word of mouth.
