Abstract

Women-owned SMEs come in a variety of forms. They can be categorized based on factors including education, motivation, age, corporate traits, and gender. The category of women owned Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), which is one of the fastest growing, needs attention for a number of reasons. In many countries, the potential of women who make up half of humanity is sadly underutilised. But it is undeniable that women are vital to many aspects of society, including the local economy. Women are frequently able to break down customary barriers by creating Women-owned SMEs. In many economies, Women-owned SMEs currently make up an increasing proportion of all new businesses. The study focused on establishing typologies of businesses mainly pursued by women-owned SMEs in Mashonaland West Province of Zimbabwe. Pragmatism research philosophy, mixed research approach, cross sectional survey design, structured questionnaires and interviews were employed in this study. The study targeted women SMEs who have been receiving microfinance services in Mashonaland West Province of Zimbabwe. Three hundred and seventy seven women SMEs were exposed to the questionnaire and 30 were exposed to interviews. Descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation were used for data analysis. The study findings showed that most women were into the manufacturing business followed by retail, wholesale and agriculture. These findings add something new to the body of existing knowledge. The government is argued to intervene so that MFIs would charge reasonable rates and also MFIs to provide the appropriate products that helps women-owned SMEs to develop. Finally, it is suggested that similar research be conducted with MFIs management and employers as responders. This could result in fresh contributions to the study.

Abstract

Even though the benefits of e-commerce for MSMEs are enormous, currently not many MSMEs have adopted e-commerce, especially in NTB. Therefore, it is necessary to know what factors actually encourage MSMEs to adopt e-commerce. However, research on e-commerce has only been carried out on large-scale businesses, while studies on small and medium-sized companies, especially regarding the adoption of e-commerce, have not been widely carried out. So, this research is important to do to find out what factors are driving the adoption of e-commerce, especially MSME players who are members of the NTB Mall application. The primary data used in this study came from questionnaires distributed to MSMEs in the NTB Mall application according to the sample characteristics determined by the researcher. The sampling technique used in this research was purposive sampling method. The number of samples in this study was 100 respondents. Data analysis was carried out using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method using SmartPLS version 3. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that environmental factors have a positive and significant influence on e-commerce adoption. Meanwhile, technological factors and organisational factors have a positive but not significant influence on e-commerce adoption.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Construction is a difficult, primarily land-based activity in which workers face a multitude of hazards, some of which go unrecognized. It is well-known for being one of the most dangerous industries in the world. It is labor-demanding and necessitates a great deal of movement of materials and machines within a tight space, resulting in a high level of safety concerns. This study aims to investigate the safety performance on Ghanaian construction sites in terms of the problems causing accidents on sites and how to curb them, if not fully eradicated. The objective of this research is to investigate the safety indicators and barriers to safety performance on Ghanaian construction sites and also identify strategies to improve safety performance on Ghanaian construction sites. The quantitative approach was adopted for this study, and questionnaires were distributed in the Kumasi metropolis with the use of the snowball sampling technique. The data received from the surveys was coded and examined utilising version 20 of the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and Microsoft Excel. "Data interpretation" refers to the process of explaining the meaning of pie charted data. Graphed data, the RII, and One Sample T tests were applied during the analysis. The findings suggested ten indicators for measuring safety performance, ten barriers that hinders the implementation of safety performance and eight strategies to help improve upon the safety performance in the Ghanaian construction industry. The findings confirmed that all the indicators, barriers and strategies are vital and need to be acted on. Examples of the safety indicators include; creation of safety policy, provision of a secure workplace environment, implementation of safety management system. Examples of the barriers that hinders safety performance include; low or insufficient resources, level of qualified personnel, lack of inspection on the effectiveness of safety performance on site by an appropriate government agencies or authority. Examples of the strategies that would improve upon safety performance include; effective use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), random site visits by safety inspectorates from the OHS agencies, mandatory safety training program for workers on site by the management. This study would aid construction firms, managers, construction professionals, artisans and laborers to reduce accidents on sites, hence, increasing their productivity and success rate in cutting unnecessary accident cost and safety fines during construction if followed and implemented.

Abstract

Company management in accordance with the Good Corporate Governance (GCG) principles can actualize good implementation of the duties and functions of every organ in the Company complying with the articles of association governing them. The Company's organs consist of the General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS), the Board of Commissioners (BOC), and the Board of Directors (BOD). BOC holds a fiduciary duty which in its entirety holds the supervisory function, and acts as an advisor to the BOD of the Company. The implementation of BOC’s positions must be based on the best interests of the Company and not intended for personal interests. Currently, supervision on the implementation of BOC’s positions which has been carried out manually so far is considered less than optimal due to the fact that there are still many cases of BOC carrying out their positions contradicting with the laws and regulations, causing material and immaterial losses to the Company. The implementation of GCG principles can facilitate the supervision of the BOC’s position and avoid abuse of authority of BOC’s position, but in fact the implantation of GCG principles has not been implemented properly by companies. Digitization of BOC’s supervisory program through the implementation of GCG principles in Company’s management by the BOD is considered the right solution to overcome these legal matters. Therefore, legal issues raised and analyzed in this study includes the implementation of GCG digitization associated with the supervision program on the implementation of BOC’s positions by the BOD in gaining Company’s legal benefits, and regulatory reformulation regarding GCG digitization program implemented in supervising the BOC’s positions based on the prevailing regulations in Indonesia. This study uses a normative juridical analysis method through a statutory approach and prescriptive analysis techniques. The concluded analysis results that digitizing the application of GCG principles related to supervising the BOC’s position makes it easier for the BOD to provide tighter supervision in actualizing Company’s legal benefit. Implementation on the digitization of GCG program is realized through advanced technology while still complying to Indonesian prevailing laws. Regulatory reformulation by the Government regarding BOC’s supervision digitization program must refer to the 5 (five) principles of GCG, the Electronic Information and Transactions Law, the Company Law, and the Job Creation Law in Indonesia. The regulation shall comply the existence of a special supervisory agency in charge of overseeing the implementation of GCG principles regarding Company’s digital supervision program on BOC’s positions by BOD.

Abstract

Bank Indonesia as the Central Bank in Indonesia has the duty to administer, regulate and maintain the smooth operation of the payment system as stipulated in the Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 23 of 1999 concerning Bank Indonesia. The Central Bank has the authority to issue and circulate currency as legal tender in a country. Currency is not limited to cash and demand deposits, but also non-cash payment instruments in electronic and card-based forms in line with the rapid digitalization. Digitalization has changed the way humans carry out economic activities. Marked by the existence of crypto assets that are loved by modern society, crypto assets have emerged to grow rapidly at a time when economic growth is declining. In addition, loose monetary and fiscal policies are occurring evenly throughout the world, including Indonesia. Thus, crypto assets have bigger potential to develop financial system inclusion and efficiency, but on the other hand they also have the potential to create new sources of risk that can affect economic, monetary and financial system stability. The development of crypto assets is the background for Central Banks in designing and issuing Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) or a digital currency called Digital Rupiah. Bank Indonesia on 30 November 2022 issued a White Paper regarding the design for developing a Digital Rupiah called the Garuda Project.
