Abstract

The response of local meat chicken growth to supplementation of isolated grain protein and the difference in ration protein levelABSTRACT. A research which aims to determine the response of local meat chicken growth of protein supplementation with Isolation Grains Protein (IGB) and the difference in ration protein level has been conducted in the Laboratory of Experimental Farm, Animal Husbandry Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University-Darussalam, Banda Aceh for 90 days. This study used a completely randomized design factorial with 2 factors, consisting of factors namely male gender (JJ) and female (JB) and the ration is a combination of factors and levels IGB in the ration, ie: treatment A: 17% protein and 0.4% IGB; treatment B 19% protein and 0.6% IGB and treatment C 21% protein and 0.8% IGB. Each combination consisted of 4 replications and each replication consists of 5 chickens. Parameters observed in the study were weight gain, achievement of final weight, consumption, conversion and efficiency of ration. DOC used a derivative result of selection of local meat chicken which are in the process of selection. Data acquired and processed by ANOVA.The results showed that supplementation of IGB and ration protein level difference was significantly effect (P 0.01) on weight gain, final weight, rate of consumption, conversion efficiency of rations and rations, but there is no interaction effect between sex and ration factors . The highest weight gain obtained in the male local chicken achieved by feeding a ration B (93.23 grams), while the hen rations achieved by providing treatment C (63.86 grams / week). The highest final body weight of male chicken on treatment B (1491.5 gram/90 days) and hens in treatment C (1061.5 gram/90 days). However, the highest ration consumption in both male and female local chickens obtained from the ration A. Feed conversion value and the best feed efficiency obtained in treatment B for the treatment of male and C for female chicken. The study concluded that there were different responses between male and female local chickens of the use of IGB in the rations. In male local chicken, IGB is more effective when added in the ration with a protein level of 19% whereas in female at the protein level of 21%.

Abstract

Microsatellite analysis in biotechnology of animal reproduction (A Review)ABSTRACT. In year 1970 was found nucleotide sequence which have repeated sequence of nucleotide. with high polymorh and using PCR could be amplified. That sequenz of nucleotide called Microsatelite. Microsatelite consist of 1 6 repeated nucleotide, which is CA repeated as mostly a repeated DNA in the animal (Tautz and Renz, 1984). Based on difference of long and amount of repeated nucleotide, there are three kind of DNA satelite, midi-, mini- and microsatelite (Matiat and Vergmaud, 1982). Microsatelite analysis was used to analyze of paternity and identity of animal, which was done as a conventional analysis with blood group analysis. The advantage of microsatelite analysis compare to blood group system are the exclution probability was high (EXP 99.9%), needs small sampel (tissues, sperm or follicel of hair), could be use for all animal without special age and possible for died animal.

Abstract

Studies of physiological bovine somatotropin (bST) on post lactating dairyABSTRACT. To increase of milk production nationally with used in dairy cattle business can assist to increase milk production, eighteen post lactating dairy cows in the highland Cipelang Bogor, were used to study the effect used of bovine somatotropin and lactating time. The experimental cows were assigned into a Randomized Block Design with a 3x2 factorial arrangement. The first factor was using of somatotropin (bST)with three levels (non bST injection, biweekly injection and three weekly injection). The second factor was lactating time with two levels (4th lactating time and 6 th lactating time) Parameters measured were heart rate, respiration frequency, rectal temperature, milk production efficiency, milk production, 4% FCM (fat corrected milk.), Milk composition, weigh gain, milk quality consist of protein, fat, pH. Bovine somatotropin significantly increased heart rate and respiration rate. Also bovine somatotropin injection at 4th lactating time significantly increased milk production. There were an interaction between bST dan lactating time on milk production and weight gain. Bovine somatotropin injection biweekly in cows on 4th lactating time ration increased milk production by 16-26 %, but injection in cows 6th lactating time increased milk production by 8-18 % combination with somatotropin doze 250/ml/14 days. Somatothropine supplementation was injection biweekly and three weekly did significantly affect to milk production, body temperature, heart rate, and respiration rate however in normal physiology . Bovine somatotropine can increase post lactating dairy production interval 14 days better than 21 days.

Abstract

In vitro analysis of oligosaccharide from extract rumbia fruit (Metroxylon sago Rottb.) as prebioticABSTRACT. Despite a range of commercially available oligosaccharides there is plenty of room to develop new, functionally enhanced prebiotics. current generation of oligosaccharides was not rationally developed. better understanding of factors determining the prebiotic activity of a particular oligosaccharide. Despite the range of commercially available oligosaccharides mixtures (mainly fructo and galacto-oligosaccharides), very few studies are focused on the mechanisms behind the prebiotic activity of particular oligosaccharides. Probably this lack is due to the unavailability of well characterized oligosaccharide fractions for prebiotic function assessment. The objectives of this research were to asses the ability of lactic acid bacteria in fermentation of oligosaccharide and as prebiotic (in vitro). Material used was oligosaccharide of purified rumbia fruit extract. Analysis of oligosaccharide as prebiotic was conducted in vitro using lactic acid bacteria. The lactic acid bacteria consisted Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium animalis, Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Lactobacillus casei Rhamnosus. The growth media for bacteria was a liquid MRS basic medium where glucose was substituted by oligosaccharide of purified rumbia fruit extract. Incubation was in aerob for Lactobacillus and anaerob for Bifidobacterium in incubator 37oC. The lactic acid bacteria was calculated 24-48 hours during incubation periode. The variables observed were: oligosaccharide component, ability of lactic acid bacteria in fermentation of oligosaccharide, and growth of lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium). The result showed that the oligosaccharide component from extract rumbia fruit consisted of: sucrose, stacchiose, and raffinose. The result showed that the oligosaccharide extract rumbia fruit was significantly (P0.05) the growth of lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium) and fermentation of oligosaccharide. It is concluded that oligosaccharide of rumbia fruit extract could be used as prebiotic.

Abstract

The substitution a part of commercial feed with pollard and duck mix additive on duck carcass physic compositionABSTRACT. The aim of this experiment was to study pollard optimum levels with additive complex mineral vitamin on the carcass physic composition Balinese male duck age 10 weeks, was carried out at Jl. Binginambe, Kediri village, Tabanan Regency. The design which used in this experiment a completely randomized design Those four treatments were ration contain 100% commercial feed (A); ration with 85% commercial feed + 15% pollard + 0,3% duck mix (B); ration with 70% commercial feed + 30% pollard + 0,3% duck mix (C); ration with 55% commercial feed + 45% pollard + 0,3% duck mix (D), respectively. The variables which measured were carcass weight, carcass percent, and carcass physic composition. The result of this experiment showed that the substitution commercial feed with pollard from 15-45% and duck mix were not significant (P 0.05) decrease carcass percent, carcass bone percent than treatment A. Meat percent on treatment B 1.81% non significant (P0.05) increase than treatment A, but C and D treatments 2.63% and 4.87% significantly increase than treatment A. Subcutan fat on C and D treatments 6.72% and 6.67% significant lower (P 0.05) than treatment A, and D treatment 4.91% significant lower than treatment B. From the result of this experiment can be concluded that substitution pollard from 15%-45% with additive 0.3% duck mix were decrease carcass percent and bone carcass percent, but substitution pollard 30% and 45% can increase meat carcass percent and decrease fat Balinese male duck age 10 weeks.

Abstract

Growth performance of white rat (Rattus norvegicus) fed by various of shrimp waste levelsABSTRACT. The objectives of this research are to investigate: (1) The effect of shrimp waste levels in experimental diets on feed intake, daily weight gain, and feed convertion (F/G) of white rats; (2) Optimal level of shrimp waste in white rat diets; and (3) The responses of both male and female white rats to shrimp waste levels. 15 male and 15 female white rats were given pellet ration contain shrimp waste for four weeks. The experimental design used in this research is Completely Randomized Design with 2 x 5 factorial arrangement in 3 replications. The A factor was sex (male and female) and the B factor was shrimp waste levels in ration (0% as control. 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%). The parameters determined are feed intake, weight gain, and feed convertion of white rats. The results indicate that shrimp waste levels in ration was significantly (P0.05) affect the dry matter intake, whereas the effect on weight gain and feed convertion of white rats was highly significant (P0.01). Sex was significantly affect weight gain (P0.05%), however it was not significance (P0.05%) on dry matter intake and feed convertion of white rats. There were no interaction (P0.05%) between shrimp waste levels in ration and sex of white rats. The conclusion of this research that shrimp waste levels in ration of white rats increase dry matter intake and daily weight gain. Whereas, it decreased feed convertion. The optimal level of shrimp waste in the diet for daily weight gain was 19.44%, while optimal feed convertion 16.62%. Male daily weight gain was higher than female.

Abstract

Effect of prebiotic oligosaccharide extract rumbia fruit (Metroxylon sago Rottb.) in the ration on broiler performanceABSTRACT. Prebiotic oligosaccharides are thought to provide beneficial effects in the gastrointestinal tract of humans and animals by stimulating growth of selected members of the intestinal microflora. Prebiotic oligosaccharides are defined as nondigestible food ingredients that provide beneficial effects to the host by stimulating the growth of selected microbial members of the gastrointestinal tract. Among the colonic bacteria capable of metabolizing prebiotic oligosaccharides and whose growth is stimulated are species of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium. Prebiotic oligosaccharides can be produced in transgli-cosylation reactions catalyzed by glycosidases. Glycosidases from different biological sources have specific ability to catalyze the formation of oligosaccharides with particular chain lengths (usually DP 7) and predominant glycosidic linkages. Oligosaccharide used this research was purified rumbia fruit extract as prebiotic for feed additive in the ration on broiler. The objectives of this research were to study the performance of broiler given of prebiotic oligosaccharide extract rumbia fruit (metroxylon sago Rottb.) in the ration. Two hundred day-old chicks of broiler were divided into three dietary treatments and four replications. Ration used was consisted of: R1 = basal ration (control), R2 = basal ration + 0,4% oligosaccharide extract rumbia fruit, and R3 = basal ration + 0,4% frukto-oligosaccharide (FOS). The variables observed were: feed consumption, body weight, feed conversion ratio, mortality, and production index. The result showed that the performances of the broiler supplemented prebiotic oligosaccharide extract rumbia fruit (R2) was significantly (P 0.05) differences between of feed consumption, body weight, and mortality. It is concluded that of prebiotic oligosaccharide extract rumbia fruit were able to decrease the mortality and feed consumption at six week of age.

Abstract

The profile of hematology and broiler daily body weight gain which treated with heat stress at different cage temperatureABSTRACT. A research have been conducted to find the impact of heat stress at 3 level of cage temperature on hematology profile and broiler daily body weight gain. Sixteen broilers (strain Cobb) at the age of 20 days were randomly divided to 4 groups. First group was control group that treated without given heat stress (KL). Second, third, and fourth groups were treated with heat stress in cages with temperature, respectively 33 1oC, 36 1oC, and 39 1oC. Heat stress was given 4 hours daily during 7 days consecutively. The result indicated that cage temperature up to 36 1oC has not significantly affected hematology profile and broiler daily body weight gain. The impact of increasing temperature have been found at cage temperature of 39 1oC after 7 days of treatment, which were the increasing number of leucocytes, decreasing number of erythrocytes, and decreasing of broiler daily body weight gain. The broiler of the age above 20 to 27 days that exposed heat stress during 4 hour per day in the cage temperature of 39 1oC can obtain heat stress in serious level.

Abstract

Inhibition hydrolysis of carbohydrate by mulberry leaves extractABSTRACT. Mulberry leaves has a great potential as animal feeds because of its high nutrient content, but has deoxynojirimycin (DNJ) active matter. It is potential to inhibit carbohydrate hydrolysis process, come to monosaccharides. The objective of this experiment is to study the inhibiting ability of mulberry leave extract in carbohydrate hydrolysis process. The kinds of carbohydrates were using glucose, maltose, sucrose and starch. This experiment used twenty four of 60 days old male mice (Mus musculus). Diet and water were given ad libitum. Treatment were allocated ina factorial completely randomized design with three replications and two factors containing of completely mulberry leaves extract and variance of carbohydrates. Variable observed were feed consumtion, feed digestibility, body weight gain and blood glucose. The data were analyzed with univariate analysis of variance. The result showed that inclusion of mulberry leaves extract had decrease body weight (P 0,05) and reduce blood glucose (P 0,05).
