Abstract

Elderly is a process of life's journey of getting old. Physiological changes in the cardiovascular system experienced by the elderly are hypertension which occurs due to decreased elasticity of the arteries in the aging process. The purpose of this research was to analyze the effect of progressive muscle relaxation on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive elderly in Banjarejo Village. Pre-experimental research design with One group Pre-Post Test Design approach. The research sample is 30 elderly hypertension people with Quota Sampling. Research variables are progressive muscle relaxation therapy and blood pressure. Collecting data using observation sheets, using the Wilcoxon statistical test. The results showed that there were changes in blood pressure before and after therapy, namely systolic blood pressure -7.82 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure -5.54 mmHg. Wilcoxon statistical test showed p value = 0.000 which means there is a change in blood pressure in the elderly after doing progressive muscle relaxation therapy. The conclusion of this research shows that progressive muscle relaxation is a therapy that can be used to lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients.

Abstract

Many people with COPD develop emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Both conditions cause obstruction of airflow in the respiratory system and cause an increase in the frequency of external respiration. One of the non-pharmacological management is tripod position and pursed lip breathing. This study aimed to determine the effect of giving a tripod position and pursed lip breathing on respiration rate in COPD patients. The design of this study used a one group pretest-post test design. The population in this study were all COPD patients at Bangil Hospital, Pasuruan in June 2021. The sampling technique of this study was consecutive sampling, the sample was obtained by 25 respondents. The instrument used observation and SOP. The results showed that the average respiration rate before giving the combination of tripod position and pursed lip breathing was 28.8x/minute, and the average value of respiration rate after giving the tripod position and pursed lip breathing was 23.2x/minute. Wilcoxon test results value = 0.000 on respiration rate before and after the combination of tripod position and pursed lip breathing, which means that tripod position and pursed lip breathing are proven to be effective on respiration rate in COPD patients. Tripod position and pursed lip breathing will loosen the chest cavity, provide positive pressure on the lungs so that air can go in and out more smoothly and reduce shortness of breath

Some of the problems that can arise in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, one of the causes is low self-management behavior. This study aims to determine self-management in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This research is a descriptive study. The variable in this study was self-management in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. This research was a descriptive study. The population in this study were all type 2 diabetes mellitus patients who routinely exercised control at the Internal Medicine Polyclinic at Ngudi Waluyo Wlingi Hospital, Blitar Regency in December 2021, namely 156 people. The sample in this study based on the sample size formula was 112 people with a sampling technique, namely purposive sampling with regard to inclusion and exclusion criteria. This research was conducted from January to February 2022 at the Internal Medicine Clinic at Ngudi Waluyo Wlingi Hospital, Blitar Regency. Data collection in this study used general data instruments consisting of age, gender, routine control, level of education, and duration of DM. Specific data questionnaire using the SDMQ Questionnaire (Diabetes Self Management Questionnaire) which consists of 16 questions with several subdomains in it. The results of this study indicated that 69.6% (78 respondents) had good category of self-management and 30.4% (34 respondents) had sufficient category of respondents. It is hoped that the results of this study can be used as a form of input for health workers, especially nurses, in carrying out their roles as educators and counselors to improve self-management in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients to improve quality of life and prevent complications.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months is one of the global strategies to improve infant growth, development, health and survival. One of the efforts that support the success of breastfeeding is by providing additional food in the form of local plants as functional food ingredients to increase breast milk supply and avoid less than optimal milk production. This research was conducted to explain the content of local plants as functional food ingredients that can help increasing breast milk supply. This literature study research used secondary data from the Google Scholar, Pubmed, Science Direct database with the last 5 years published, and then the journals obtained are identified according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria set by the researcher. The results of a review of 12 journals stated that local plants Moringa leaf, katuk leaf, mung beans, and soybeans as functional food ingredients that can increase breast milk supply because the four plants contain laktagogum effects that can stimulate, maintain and increase breast milk. Local plants Moringa leaf, katuk leaf, mung beans and soybeans as functional food ingredients to increase breast milk supply because they have a laktagogum effect which are consumed in varying doses and ways of consumption, but have the same efficacy, namely increasing the rate of secretion and production of breast milk.

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic non-communicable disease, the cases of which are increasing every years. Hypertension is caused by heredity, age, food and unhealthy lifestyle. The consequences of hypertension include heart disease, stroke, myocardial infarction, atherosclerosis, kidney failure and other diseases. One of the effective and easy non-pharmacological treatments for lowering blood pressure is using Benson relaxation. Benson's relaxation is a concentration of relaxation by harmonizing blood pressure so that it reduces the work of the sympathetic and initial sympathetic nerves to affect heart rate, pulse, respiration and activities that use the workload of the heart. This study aimed to analyze the effect of benson relaxation in reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients. This study was a pre-experimental research with a pretest and posttest design approach. The population in this study was hypertensive patients with a sample of 18 respondents selected by purposive sampling with the criteria of being willing to become respondents and participating in Benson relaxation activities for 2 weeks. The hypothesis testing used the T test (Paired sample Test). The results of the pre post systole study obtained p = 0.000 and pre post diastole p = 0.007 indicating that Benson relaxation is done regularly and is effective in reducing blood pressure in people with hypertension. It is hoped that people and families with hypertension can apply Benson in reducing and controlling blood pressure

Abstract

Stunting occurs due to chronic malnutrition that has been going on for a long time, namely from the time the child is in the womb until the child is 2 years old. Limited access to antenatal care is one of the causes of stunting. The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on health services, including maternal and child health services. The population was all mothers who had babies aged 0–12 months in Kebonagung Village area, Pakisaji District, Malang Regency. The sampling technique used total sampling. The sample was 70 respondents. The data obtained were analyzed using the Chi-squared correlation test with a p value of 0.05. The results showed that there was a significant correlation between antenatal care visits during the COVID-19 pandemic and the incidence of stunting in the Kebonagung Village area, Pakisaji District, Malang Regency, with a p value of = 0.000 (p  < 0.05). with moderate closeness and a correlation coefficient value of (r) = 0.2352. It is expected that health workers will provide counseling, information, and education to pregnant women about the importance of prenatal checks to prevent stunting
