Abstract

Randai traditional art is one of the cultural heritages of Minangkabau that holds significant aesthetic, educational, and social values; however, its existence is increasingly threatened due to globalization and the declining interest of the younger generation. The lack of attention and limited preservation efforts are the main factors contributing to the decline of this traditional art. Therefore, concrete efforts are needed to preserve randai as part of local cultural identity. This article aims to examine the preservation of randai as an effort to strengthen cultural identity through the Community Service Program (KKN) using a participatory approach involving students and the community in activities such as socialization, training, and performances. The results indicate that these activities can increase public awareness of the importance of local culture and revive the interest of the younger generation in learning and preserving randai. Furthermore, the program also strengthens social cohesion and cultural identity within the community. In conclusion, the preservation of randai not only serves to maintain cultural heritage but also acts as a means of strengthening local cultural identity in the midst of modernization.

Abstract

The development of Islamic banking activities in Indonesia currently is not matched by adequate understanding among students, particularly regarding the rights and obligations of customers, Sharia contract literacy, and consumer protection mechanisms. This Community Service Activity aims to enhance the understanding of Muara Bungo University students regarding customer rights and obligations, complaint procedures, basic sharia contract literacy, prevention of detrimental service practices, and the resolution process for sharia banking consumer disputes. The activity was attended by 50 students from all faculties and department, conducted using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach through the stages of problem identification, planning, implementation with interactive lecture methods, and evaluation. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in understanding, marked by the growing awareness of participants regarding the rights and obligations of customers, understanding of Islamic banking contracts, as well as the ability to comprehend consumer protection concepts and the dispute resolution process effectively. Consumer protection literacy education has proven to have a positive impact on students in preparing themselves to face the banking world, both in the context of employment and business in the future.

Abstract

Churches and Christian institutions frequently face the challenge of congregations whose understanding of ministry remains confined to the spiritual dimension alone, while the holistic ministry mandate calls for active engagement across social, educational, and economic spheres. This study examines two primary objectives: first, how Christian Religious Education (CRE) shapes congregational understanding of holistic church ministry; and second, how CRE equips congregants with the concrete capacity to serve comprehensively. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed at Yayasan Sola Gratia Medan. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews with seven informants comprising foundation leaders, program coordinators, active church members, volunteers, and beneficiaries. Analysis followed a thematic framework encompassing data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Findings reveal that: (1) consistent CRE implementation at Yayasan Sola Gratia has successfully shifted the congregational ministry paradigm from exclusively spiritual to holistically transformative; and (2) congregants who have internalized CRE values demonstrate more structured ministry capacity, stronger theological motivation, and significant cross-dimensional engagement. This research contributes a contextual CRE model relevant for church-based institutions operating in multidimensional urban environments.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase the capacity of uhu-uhu cake entrepreneurs in Bira Village, Bulukumba Regency through product innovation and branding strengthening. The main problems faced by partners include limited product variety, unattractive and unhygienic packaging, and the lack of a strong brand identity. The implementation method uses a participatory approach through the stages of needs identification, socialization, mentoring, and evaluation. The results of the activity show an increase in product innovation through variations in flavors and shapes, improvements to more aesthetic and informative packaging, and strengthening branding through the use of brand names and logos that reflect local identity. In addition, partners have begun utilizing social media as a marketing tool to expand market reach. This activity has had a positive impact on improving product quality and business competitiveness. Thus, uhu-uhu cake has the potential to become a superior regional product that can support the economy of the Bira Village community in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This community service activity was motivated by the low level of public understanding regarding the utilization of appropriate technology based on local needs. The objective of this program was to enhance community knowledge and skills through socialization and assistance in applying relevant technology. The method employed a participatory approach, including observation, surveys, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), educational socialization, technology demonstration, mentoring, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test. The results showed a significant increase in community understanding, indicated by an improvement in the average score from 25% in the pre-test to 78% in the post-test, reflecting a 53% increase. In addition, social changes were observed, including increased community participation, the establishment of learning groups, and the emergence of local leaders as change agents. Therefore, the socialization of appropriate technology based on local needs is proven effective in enhancing community capacity and independence.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of information technology has triggered an escalation in Electronic-Based Sexual Violence (KSBE), threatening the safety of young people in cyberspace. The community service activity serving as the focus of this study was conducted in Molowahu Village, Tibawa District, Gorontalo Regency, where such vulnerability was exacerbated by low legal awareness and the limitations of pre-existing regulations—prior to the enactment of Law No. 12 of 2022 on Sexual Violence Crimes (UU TPKS)—which often led to the secondary victimization (or "double criminalization") of victims. This study aims to analyze the legal reconstruction of KSBE handling under Law No. 12 of 2022 (UU TPKS) and to formulate a doctrinal strategy—implemented in Molowahu Village—to strengthen legal awareness among young people. A normative legal research method was employed, utilizing both statutory and conceptual approaches. The findings indicate that Article 14 of the UU TPKS introduces a juridical re-conceptualization, positioning KSBE as a distinct criminal offense based on the absence of consent, while simultaneously dismantling the moralistic stigma inherent in previous regulations. Implementation in Molowahu Village demonstrates that strengthening legal awareness among young people requires a transformation from mere legal knowledge to the institutionalization of an empathetic legal culture, an understanding of victims' rights to recovery, and proficiency in digital privacy protection literacy—all achieved through active collaboration among academics, university students, village officials, and local customary leaders.

Abstract

Family financial management is a crucial aspect of maintaining household stability and well-being. However, many housewives still do not systematically record their finances, resulting in frequent imbalances between income and expenses. This community service activity aims to improve the understanding and skills of housewives in preparing simple financial reports as an effort to manage family finances more planned and controlled. The target group for this activity was 30 housewives in Pesantren Nurus Sunnah Bulukumba Regency who act as family financial managers. The implementation method included outreach, material delivery, practical training on preparing simple financial reports based on cash flow recording, as well as mentoring and evaluation. The results of the activity showed high enthusiasm for the training and a growing understanding of the importance of recording household income and expenses. Based on the evaluation, approximately 80% of participants understood the benefits of preparing family financial reports and began to apply them in their daily lives, while approximately 20% of participants still needed further mentoring. Thus, this training activity was able to improve financial literacy and encourage behavioral changes in more disciplined and planned family financial management.

Abstract

The Betimbang Bakati tradition is a local cultural heritage practiced in the traditional marriage ceremonies of the Malay community in Ranggo Sungai Dingin Village. However, public understanding of the philosophical values and cultural significance of this tradition has gradually declined due to modernization and changing social dynamics. This community service program aimed to increase public awareness and understanding of the Betimbang Bakati tradition through socialization and educational activities. The program involved village officials, customary leaders, religious leaders, youth, and community members using participatory methods, including presentations, interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and educational materials concerning the history, implementation, and philosophical values of the tradition. The results indicated that participants showed improved knowledge and appreciation of the Betimbang Bakati tradition as an important element of local wisdom. They also gained a better understanding of the values of responsibility, mutual respect, togetherness, religious morality, and cultural preservation embodied in the tradition. Furthermore, the activities encouraged community commitment to preserving and passing on this cultural heritage to future generations. Therefore, socialization and educational programs on the Betimbang Bakati tradition can effectively strengthen cultural awareness and support the sustainable preservation of local wisdom.

Abstract

The use of gadgets among adolescents has increased significantly and can have both positive and negative impacts on their health, behavior, and social activities. Limited knowledge regarding healthy gadget use may lead to various problems, including impaired learning concentration, reduced social interaction, sleep disturbances, and gadget addiction. Health education efforts are therefore needed to improve adolescents’ understanding of the impacts of gadget use, one of which can be implemented through interactive and engaging learning media, such as an educational Snakes and Ladders game. This community service activity aimed to improve adolescents’ knowledge of the impacts of gadget use at SMAN 11 Pandeglang. The results showed an increase in the mean scores of students’ knowledge and attitudes regarding the adverse effects of excessive gadget use following education delivered through the Snakes and Ladders media. The educational Snakes and Ladders game was considered effective because it increased student participation and learning interest while improving their understanding of the positive and negative impacts of gadget use. Therefore, the Snakes and Ladders game can serve as an alternative health promotion medium in school settings to improve adolescents’ knowledge regarding healthy and responsible gadget use.

Abstract

The postpartum period is a critical phase that requires continuous monitoring because maternal complications may occur after childbirth and may be recognized late when mothers and families have limited knowledge of warning signs and postnatal care schedules. This community service activity aimed to provide education to postpartum mothers and families about postpartum danger signs and the importance of completing postnatal care visits. The activity was conducted at Posyandu ILP Tanjung 1 Kompi Markas in the working area of Sungai Durian Public Health Center, Sintang, in 2026. The activity used a health education approach through an interactive lecture, discussion, and question-and-answer session, supported by a leaflet. The target participants were postpartum mothers and their families. The activity process ran according to the planned schedule, participants actively followed the education and discussion, and participants were able to answer questions concerning postpartum danger signs and explain the importance of completing postnatal visits through 42 days after childbirth. The activity indicates that structured, community-based education can strengthen mothers' and families' understanding of postpartum warning signs and postnatal care utilization. Continuous education through Posyandu and primary health services is recommended to reinforce early recognition of complications and timely care-seeking.
