Abstract

This study explores the intersections of divine femininity and Islamic mysticism in Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s Faust and West-östlicher Divan [West–Eastern Divan], positioning these canonical works as fertile ground for intercultural literary inquiry and postcolonial English Language Teaching (ELT). Employing hermeneutic, intertextual, and comparative literary methods, this research uncovers Goethe’s engagement with Sufi metaphysics, the Qur’an, and Persian poetic traditions—particularly his intertextual dialogue with Hafiz and the implicit spiritual kinship with Islamic thinkers such as Rabiah al-Adawiyah and Muhammad Iqbal. Central to this inquiry is Goethe’s concept of the Ewig-Weibliche [Eternal Feminine], which, when read through Islamic mystical lenses, reveals a syncretic spiritual vision that transcends Orientalist binaries and patriarchal norms. The paper argues that integrating these texts into ELT pedagogy encourages both aesthetic appreciation and critical intercultural understanding—especially within postcolonial, Muslim-majority contexts like Indonesia. By reinterpreting canonical Western literature through Islamic and gender-inclusive frameworks, this study contributes to both Goethean scholarship and transformative, decolonial approaches to literary pedagogy.

Abstract

Traditional approach on security has emphasized on the issues of border and sovereignty of states. This paper examines the complex interplay between governance, human security and geopolitical transformations in the context of forced migration, focusing on the experience of Afghan refugees in Indonesia after 2021. The research argues that Indonesia’s “informal” governance approach, in the absence of a domestic legal framework, has placed refugees in a prolonged state of “limbo”. This situation has directly impacted on various dimensions of their human security, including economic, social and psychological security. Using content analysis and case study methods, this article shows that the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan in 2021, as a geopolitical trigger, has exacerbated existing challenges and fueled multiple insecurities for refugees. The findings emphasize that relying solely on international cooperation is not enough and that countries need to establish a domestic legal framework to provide effective governance based on human dignity. Finally, this article emphasizes the importance of adopting a comprehensive human security approach to managing refugee crises and offers suggestions for policymakers in Indonesia and other host countries.

Abstract

Abstract

Crime rates in rural areas have been increasing in recent years. This surge in criminal activity has fostered a climate of fear and insecurity among rural residents. Several factors contribute to this phenomenon. Many rural areas lack a sufficient number of security personnel, hindering effective deterrence and response to crime. Moreover, community members patrol (ronda), often struggles with ineffectiveness due to a lack of organization and resources. Furthermore, low awareness of basic security measures among rural residents leaves them vulnerable. Village information system also need to consider as one of the factors which might be influence the crime activities in villages. However, economic factors like poverty and unemployment can push individuals towards criminal activity. This study investigates the impact of increasing security personnel on crime rates and crime reporting in Indonesian villages using panel data from the PODES survey and SUSENAS from 2018-2022. The study employs a propensity score matching (PSM) model to examine the relationship between security personnel, crime rates, and crime reporting, considering other factors such as regulations, social assistance and socioeconomic factors. The study found that increasing security personnel has a significant negative impact on crime rates, indicating that a higher number of security personnel leads to a lower crime rate in villages. Additionally, enhancing village information system also has a significant positive impact on crime reporting which finally reduce crime. This research breaks new ground by comprehensively analyzing the interconnected nature of crime and its reporting within rural Indonesian communities. By demonstrating the effectiveness of increased security personnel and village information system will not only reducing crime rates but also encouraging reporting

Abstract

This study analyzes Kalasan Temple as a religious and political entity that articulated and mobilized Mahayana Buddhist ideology to bolster dynastic legitimacy during the Śailendra dynasty in eighth-century Java. The study utilizes a historical-archaeological approach, systematically applying heuristics, critical source evaluation, interpretation, and historiography to both primary data, specifically the Kalasan Inscription (778 CE) and the temple’s architectural and ornamental characteristics, as well as secondary scholarship in history, archaeology, and Buddhist studies. This research reinterprets epigraphic and architectural data by contextualizing Kalasan within the broader framework of contemporary Buddhist monuments in Central Java, such as Sari, Plaosan, and the Borobudur complex, to evaluate common ideological patterns and institutional strategies, rather than regarding existing literature as a descriptive authority. The analysis reveals that Kalasan’s establishment as a Bhavanam, bolstered by royal patronage and simā land grants, signifies a purposeful incorporation of Mahayana devotional practices into the political framework of Ancient Mataram. The study demonstrates, through comparative architectural and contextual analysis, that Mahayana Buddhism functioned as both elite religiosity and a legitimizing framework connecting rulers, monastic communities, and society. This article emphasizes methodological rigor and intersite comparison, offering critical insights into the interplay between religious ideology and political authority, demonstrating how sacred architecture actively influenced the development of early Javanese civilization.

Abstract

The hashtag #KaburAjaDulu reflects a psychosocial and ideological crisis among Indonesian Generation Z, especially in their relationship with the state and national identity. This study aims to examine how this phenomenon reveals a deep crisis of civic aspiration and the limitations of Citizenship Education (PPKn) in responding to young citizens’ emotional, psychological, and social realities. Utilizing a literature review approach supported by bibliometric analysis through VOSviewer, this study explores the dominant themes and research gaps across related academic publications. The findings indicate that health-related and migration discourses dominate the #KaburAjaDulu conversation, while the intersection with Citizenship Education and mental health remains weak. The novelty of this research lies in its critical synthesis using civic engagement and psychosocial resilience frameworks to propose a transformative model of PPKn that is context-sensitive, emotionally supportive, and socially empowering. The study recommends the integration of digital literacy, emotional education, and participatory pedagogy to strengthen national belonging and psychological well-being among young citizens.

Abstract

Studi ini berlandaskan teori fenomenologi sosial Alfred Schutz yang membedakan because motive (alasan berbasis pengalaman masa lalu) dan in order to motive (tujuan reflektif masa depan). Sementara in order to motive terkait tujuan membangun identitas digital: memperoleh validasi sosial, mengirim kode simbolik, menjaga estetika akun, memperkuat personal branding, dan menegaskan self-image. Aktivitas repost terbukti bukan sekadar teknis, tetapi praktik komunikasi bermakna untuk memperkuat eksistensi diri di ruang digital.
