Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between the self-confidence of female students at SMK Dharma Wanita Gresik and daily make up learning. Self-confidence is an important component in adolescent development, and female students are expected to enhance their self-confidence by learning make up. This study employs a quantitative approach, and data were collected through questionnaires distributed to fifty respondens.to find therelationship between the variables of make up learning and self-confidence, the obtained data were analyzed statistically. The results of the study indicate that make up lessons have a significant positive effect on the self-confidence of female students. Make up lessons resulted in a good level of self-confidence in 74% of respondents. Furthermore the research found that female students with better make up skills tend to have higher self-confidence. These findings suggest that vocational education, which includes practical skill learning such as make up, can aid in the development of students’ character and professionalism. It is hoped that this research will contribute to the development of vocational education curricula, enhance students’ practical skills, and improve their self-confidence in vocational high schools (SMK). Keywords : vocational education, self-confidence, practical sklills.

Abstract

The Yogyakarta traditional ukel tekuk bun is an important part of traditional make-up, with the sunggar supported by a subal to maintain its stability and shape. However, the materials and techniques for making traditional subal are considered less practical and comfortable, so innovation is needed to create a more modern subal without losing its traditional essence. This study aims to (1) identify the stages of subal development for the Yogyakarta traditional ukel tekuk bun sunggar, and (2) evaluate the feasibility of the subal based on expert validation and user assessment. The research method uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the PPE (Planning, Production, Evaluation) model. The data collection instrument involves expert validation and user assessment using a Likert scale of 4. The results of the study show several main findings: (1) Problems faced by make-up artists and users include lack of skills in making sunggar, discomfort of sasakan, shape that does not suit the face, and a long time-consuming process. Therefore, a practical subal was developed using materials such as hair, combs, needles, sewing threads, and other supporting tools. (2) The development process includes design, production, and evaluation. (3) Expert validation results showed a feasibility percentage of 95.16% (average 3.81), and user assessment reached 98.02% (average 3.92), both in the feasibility category.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of the eyelash sewing technique on monolid eye makeup results in European bridal styling. A quantitative one-shot case study was employed. Expert panels completed Likert-scale ratings complemented by visual documentation. Results indicate a significant difference between the sewing technique (mean 60.80) and non-sewing (mean 36.70); the paired t-test yielded p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). The technique enhances aesthetics, proportion, and durability, thus recommended for brides with monolid eyes.
