Abstract

The rapid development of the times has influenced various aspects of life, including Javanese bridal make-up traditions. This article examines modifications to Javanese bridal make-up, especially for Muslim brides, to respond to modern aesthetic demands and the social changes that are occurring. This modification of make-up can be seen in changes in technique, use of cosmetics, and styling of the hijab which is more practical but still maintains traditional elements. Adjustments to bridal make-up in various regions, such as Sidoarjo, Trenggalek, Bojonegoro and Jogja, reflect efforts to maintain a balance between cultural values and the needs of today's brides. As a result, bridal make-up has become simpler and more minimalist, but still maintains deep cultural symbolism and philosophy. This article shows that modifications to Javanese bridal make-up are a solution to deal with the impact of changing times, so that traditions remain relevant and accepted by the younger generation.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has driven significant changes in learning strategies, particularly in vocational education that emphasizes practical skills. One of the most effective media is instructional video. This study aims to systematically examine the impact of video media on enhancing haircutting practice skills. The research design employed is a literature review with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through the analysis of ten national and international journals discussing the implementation of video in hairdressing practice education. Data collection techniques involved scientific document searches, inclusion-based selection, content analysis, and thematic synthesis. The findings reveal that video media significantly contributes to improving students’ skills by providing clear visualizations of work procedures, learning time flexibility, and increased motivation. Videos allow learners to revisit materials, understand techniques in depth, and foster independent learning. Furthermore, videos serve as tools for self-evaluation in haircutting practice. However, challenges such as limited devices, internet access, and digital literacy remain issues of concern. Based on these findings, video is recognized as a highly potential learning medium to be implemented in practical skill education, especially in the field of hairdressing.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the most effective digital promotion strategy for increasing customer retention at Beauty Clinics. Five main criteria are set as the basis for assessment, namely engagement rate, content relevance, platform reach, customer feedback responsiveness, and conversion rate. This study involved five alternative digital promotion strategies: (1) interactive social media campaign, (2) digital loyalty program, (3) collaboration with influencers, (4) segmented paid advertising, and (5) SEO and website optimization. The assessment was conducted by five experts in the fields of digital marketing and beauty clinic management, utilizing a 4-point Likert scale. TOPSIS analysis was conducted through the stages of decision matrix normalization, weighting, determining positive and negative ideal solutions, and calculating Euclidean distance and preference values (Closeness Coefficient). The results showed that the interactive social media campaign strategy obtained the highest Closeness Coefficient value of 0.812, followed by the digital loyalty program (0.748) and collaboration with influencers (0.691). Meanwhile, the SEO website optimization strategy obtained the lowest value (0.581). These results indicate that a direct social interaction-based promotional approach is more effective in increasing customer loyalty in the service sector.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the marketing communication strategy that implemented by PT X. The marketing communication strategy applied by PT X is a marketing strategy that collaborates with Makeup Artists to increase purchasing intention from target consumers. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews. Researcher conducted interviews with six informants. The three informants interviewed were PT X's internal team, and the other three were people who worked as Makeup Artists who collaborated on the marketing strategy that implemented by PT X. The results of this study indicate that the marketing communication strategy of PT X in collaboration with Makeup Artist in the Makeup Academy Project is a marketing strategy that can increase the purchase intention from target consumers. In implementing this strategy, Makeup Artist is a sales agent who promotes PT X's cosmetic products to the targeted consumers, they are the students of the Project Makeup Academy.   Keywords: Marketing Communication Strategy, Makeup Artist, Project Makeup Academy, Buying Interest.

Abstract

This article examines Chinese bridal makeup and attire in the Sangjit procession as a fusion of modern and traditional elements. Sangjit, which is a proposal tradition in Chinese culture, is not only symbolic of the commitment between families, but also rich in visual symbolism through bridal makeup and attire. This study uses a literature review method, referring to various academic articles from Google Scholar to analyze the philosophy, techniques, and dynamics of aesthetic transformation in the Sangjit procession. The results of the discussion show that both makeup and clothing have undergone significant developments: traditional makeup, which used to be colorful, is now more adaptive to global trends, while clothing such as cheongsam retains classic motifs but is processed with modern cuts and materials. This study also reveals that this combination reflects the cultural strategy of the Chinese community to maintain the continuity of tradition amid the tide of modernization. This research contributes to broadening our understanding of cross-cultural aesthetic practices and offers new insights into how cultural identity is articulated through makeup and fashion. However, this study has limitations due to the lack of primary data, so further research using a field approach is highly recommended.

Abstract

This study explored the application of color correcting techniques to address uneven skin tones commonly experienced by young people today. Data were collected through a qualitative literature review from various credible sources including scientific journals, beauty articles, and expert publications. The analysis focused on the theory of complementary colors in makeup, the selection of concealer shades, application methods, and the psychological impact of using color correcting. The findings reveal that specific concealer colors effectively neutralize skin discolorations such as redness, dark circles, and hyperpigmentation. Moreover, correct application techniques enhance natural skin appearance and boost users’ self-confidence. The technique remains highly relevant in contemporary beauty trends, promoting a natural and healthy look without heavy makeup. Educating young users on color theory and product choice is crucial for optimal results. Additionally, the development of skin-friendly products supports long-term skin health. Color correcting thus serves not only as an aesthetic tool but also as a means of enhancing self-esteem among youth.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to analyze the influence of social commerce, particularly TikTok Shop, on the purchasing behavior of beauty products among Generation Z. Utilizing a quantitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to students at Universitas Negeri Padang. The findings reveal that 72.74% of respondents perceive a high interest from Generation Z in using TikTok Shop, while 69.2% express satisfaction with purchasing cosmetic products through the platform. These results indicate that TikTok Shop effectively influences Generation Z's purchasing decisions, especially through interactive features such as live shopping, user reviews, and influencer endorsements. The implications of this study underscore the importance of marketing strategies that leverage social commerce to engage digitally active young consumers.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of lipstick use on women's self-confidence, particularly within the context of urban life. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with 15 women aged 20–35 who actively use lipstick in their daily activities. The results reveal that lipstick functions not merely as a cosmetic tool but also as a symbol of personal strength, a social instrument, and a psychological necessity. Participants expressed that lipstick use enhances their confidence in both social and professional situations. However, some also recognized a symbolic dependency conditioned by social aesthetic standards. These findings support the view that beauty products play a complex role in shaping women’s identity and psychological state. Therefore, it is essential to promote more inclusive and empowering beauty campaigns.

Abstract

Aloe vera is a medicinal plant rich in nutrients and active compounds such as vitamins, enzymes, and antioxidants that benefit skin health. In the cosmetic industry, aloe vera is widely used as a natural ingredient in body lotion formulations due to its moisturizing, soothing, and skin-regenerating properties. This article discusses the benefits of aloe vera as a primary raw material in the production of body lotion, including its ability to hydrate the skin, reduce irritation, and delay signs of aging. Aloe vera-based body lotions are also considered safe and suitable for various skin types, including sensitive skin. With its natural content, aloe vera has great potential as a sustainable and eco-friendly base ingredient for personal care products.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the results of bridal makeup on oily skin types using facial primer cream, describe the results of bridal makeup on oily skin types using silicone face primer, and compare the two types of facial primer. This study uses a quantitative method with an experimental approach, involving 43 students of the Family Welfare Vocational Education Study Program as samples. Data collected through questionnaires and direct observation with the results of makeup using facial primer cream and silicone face primer. Furthermore, the analysis uses a normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis test (t test). The results of the study: 1) The results of the normality test show that the data is normally distributed with a significance value of the use of facial primer cream of 0.102>0.05 and facial silicone primer of 0.200>0.05 then. 2) The results of the homogeneity test get a significance result of 0.000 where from these results, the sig. value <0.05 then the data is declared not homogeneous. 3) The results of the hypothesis test (t-test) show a significant difference between the two types of primer, namely face primer cream users at 20.72 and for silicone face primer users at 25.35. The significance value of the t-test of 0.000 <0.05 indicates a difference between the two. With these results from the study, it shows that cream-based face primers are less effective in increasing the adhesion and durability of makeup on oily skin. Meanwhile, Silicon face primers provide more durable and matte results and Silicon Face primer is the main choice in bridal makeup for oily skin types than Face primer Cream.
