Abstract

The postpartum period is a phase of physical and psychological adaptation that often causes anxiety in mothers after childbirth. Untreated anxiety can affect the recovery process, breast milk production, and mother–infant bonding. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of hypnobirthing in reducing anxiety levels among mothers with spontaneous postpartum. The method used was a case study with a nursing care approach involving five spontaneous postpartum mothers who experienced anxiety related to situational crises. Anxiety levels were measured using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) questionnaire before and after the intervention. The nursing intervention in the form of hypnobirthing was administered once daily for 15 minutes over three consecutive days. The results showed a decrease in the average anxiety score from 18 (severe anxiety) before the intervention to 10 (mild anxiety) after three days of hypnobirthing. All patients experienced a reduction in anxiety levels, with most achieving a final category of mild anxiety. In conclusion, hypnobirthing is effective in reducing anxiety levels in spontaneous postpartum mothers and can be used as a non-pharmacological nursing intervention to support maternal psychological recovery after childbirth.

Abstract

Measles Rubella (MR) immunization coverage in Indonesia remains below the national target of 95%, with coverage in 2024 reaching only 82.3% and showing a decline compared to the previous year. A lower coverage was observed in the working area of Pekanbaru Kota Public Health Center, where only238 out of 547 eligible children (41.3%) received MR immunization. Low immunization coverage may reduce herd immunity and increase the risk of measles and rubella outbreaks. This study aimed to analyze factors influencing MR immunization uptake among children under five in the working area of Pekanbaru Kota Public Health Center in 2025. This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design involving 40 mothers of children aged 9–60 months selected through accidental sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires assessing maternal knowledge, attitudes, family support, support from health workers, and travel time to health facilities. Univariate and bivariate analyses were performed using the Chi-Square test at a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results showed that 67.5% of respondents had provided MR immunization to their children. Significant associations were found between maternal knowledge (p = 0.033), maternal attitudes (p = 0.037), family support (p = 0.002), and health worker support (p = 0.015) with MR immunization uptake, while travel time to health facilities was not significantly associated (p = 0.053). In conclusion, maternal knowledge and attitudes, family support, and health worker support are significant factors influencing MR immunization uptake, highlighting the need to strengthen health education and family involvement to improve MR immunization coverage.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus in the elderly significantly impacts quality of life (QoL) due to physiological changes in aging, comorbidities, and the risk of chronic complications. Nutritional management is considered a key intervention to improve glycemic control and functional status in the elderly. Objective: To review the current evidence regarding the effect of nutritional interventions on the quality of life in elderly with type 2 diabetes mellitus through a Literature Review approach. Methods: The Literature Review was conducted by identifying articles from the Scopus database published in 2020–2025. The review process included screening based on inclusion-exclusion criteria, eligibility assessment, and narrative synthesis of relevant studies, including controlled trials,quasi-experimental studies, observational studies, and systematic observations. Results: From the selected studies, interventions with a low glycemic index diet and a balanced diet have been shown to reduce HbA1c levels and the risk of complications; a multicomponent program combining diet and exercise produces synergistic effects on glucose control, physical function, and quality of life.Structured nutrition education (DSME) and family involvement improve satisfaction and metabolic outcomes. The use of technology (mobile apps) shows potential in monitoring intake and glucose, although digital literacy challenges and limited sample size and study design are often limitations. Conclusion: Targeted nutrition interventions, especially when combined with exercise, education, family support, and age-friendly technology, have the potential to improve metabolic control and quality of life in older adults with T2DM.Recommendation: Large-scale RCTs and more robust longitudinal studies are needed to establish the long-term effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of multicomponent nutrition interventions and technology adaptations for older adults with multimorbidity.

Abstract

RFA treatments, pain is a frequent issue that might interfere with comfort and postpone recovery. Pharmacological treatment continues to be the mainstay of pain management after RFA, whereas non-pharmacological nursing treatments like cold compress therapy are not regularly used. The purpose of this research was to investigate how cold compress therapy affects pain severity in individuals following radiofrequency ablation. At the central general hospital in central Java, a quantitative quasi-experimental design was used, employing a one-group pre-test and post-test methodology. Twenty-eight participants were chosen using purposive sampling. The NRS was used to assess the intensity of pain both before and after applying a cold compress for 15–20 minutes. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used to examine the data. Following the intervention, the median pain scores fell from 5 (moderate pain) to 2 (mild pain), which was a statistically significant change (p = 0.001). These results suggest that cold compress therapy can be advised as a non-pharmacological nursing intervention in post-procedural treatment since it helps lessen post-RFA pain

Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose levels due to impaired insulin action. Blood glucose control is influenced by various factors, one of which is dietary patterns. Diets that do not adhere to balanced nutrition principles can lead to poor glycemic control and increase the risk of complications. This study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 95 patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at Sari Asih Karawaci Hospital in 2025, selected using purposive sampling techniques. Dietary pattern data were collected using a questionnaire, while blood glucose level data were obtained from medical examination results. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Contingency Coefficient test. The results showed that most respondents had good dietary patterns (58.9%), and blood glucose levels within the normal category (51.6%). Bivariate analysis using the Contingency Coefficient test indicated a p-value of 0.005, demonstrating a significant relationship between dietary patterns and blood glucose levels in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. There is a significant relationship between dietary patterns and blood glucose levels in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Proper dietary management is an important factor in controlling blood glucose levels and should be a primary focus in nursing care and health education for patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease that can cause impaired gas exchange due to lung tissue damage, increased mucus production, and decreased lung elasticity. This condition may lead to shortness of breath, decreased oxygen saturation, and ineffective breathing patterns. Non-pharmacological nursing interventions such as pursed lip breathing exercise and body positioning are needed to improve respiratory function. The combination of pursed lip breathing exercise and the high Fowler position is expected to enhance alveolar ventilation and improve oxygenation in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis.Method: This study is a quantitative research with a pre-experimental/quasi-experimental design using a pre-test and post-test approach. The sample consists of pulmonary tuberculosis patients who experience impaired gas exchange and meet the inclusion criteria. The intervention provided is a combination of pursed lip breathing exercise and the high Fowler position. Gas exchange is measured by assessing oxygen saturation and respiratory rate before and after the intervention. Data will be analyzed using appropriate statistical tests to determine the effect of the intervention. Results: The expected results of this study are an increase in oxygen saturation and improvement in respiratory rate after the application of the combination of pursed lip breathing exercise and the high Fowler position in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Conclusion: The combination of pursed lip breathing exercise and the high Fowler position is expected to have a positive effect on improving gas exchange in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and can be applied as an independent nursing intervention in clinical practice.

Abstract

Anxiety and pain are common problems experienced by postoperative patients and may negatively affect physiological and psyhological conditions as well as the recovery process. Management of anxiety and pain can be carried out throught pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches, one of which is the autogenic relaxation technique. This technique is safe, simple easy to learn and does not cause side effects so it can be applied by healthcare professionals and performed independently by patients. This study aimed to determine the effect of autogenic relaxation on anxiety levels and pain intensity in postoperative patients in the general ward. This study employed a pre-experimental design with a pretest-posttest without control approach. The sample consisted of 31 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HRS-A) to measure anxiety levels and the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) to assess pain intensity. The result of the Paired Sample T-test showed a p-value of 0,0001 (< 0,05), indicating a significant decrease in the mean anxiety level from moderate to mild after the intevention. The wilcoxon test also showed a p-value of 0,0001 (< 0,05), demonstrating a significant difference in pain intensity before and after the intervention, from moderate pain to mild pain. It can be cocluded that the autogenic relaxation technique has a significant effect on reducing anxiety levels and pain intensity in postoperative patients. This technique is recommended as a non-pharmacological intervention that can be applied by healthcare professionals to enhance patient comfort and support the postoperative recovery process.

Abstract

Early Warning Score (EWS) is early detection instrument for predicting severity or worsening of a patient's condition. Therefore, nurses' compliance with the assessment is crucial. The goal is to reduce the incidence of code blues in general care units. Code blue is a procedure code used for conditions where a victim is found to be at risk of cardiac arrest or respiratory arrest. Methods: This study is a quantitative analytical survey, a form of research that examines the effects and risk factors. The study design was cross-sectional, examining the dynamics of correlation between dependent and independent variables. The number of respondents in this study was 150, drawn from a total sampling of the nurse population in general care units. The data obtained were subjected to statistical analysis using a non-parametric Chi-Square test. Results: Respondents, based on their level of compliance with the EWSS monitoring form, were mostly in the compliant category (94%), and most had an impact on the absence of code blues (94%) in the emergency risk group. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between nurses' compliance in monitoring the completion of the EWSS and the occurrence of code blue in inpatient rooms (P-Value <0.05).
