Abstract

Drug abuse remains a serious social problem, particularly among adolescents and young adults. The spread of drugs into rural areas highlights the urgent need for preventive efforts through continuous and educational approaches. This Community Service (PkM) activity aimed to increase public knowledge and awareness regarding the dangers of drug abuse through an educational program. The study employed a descriptive quantitative and qualitative approach involving 30 adolescents and young adults from a village in Mojokerto Regency. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test questionnaires, observation, and documentation. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge, with the average score increasing from 56.3 in the pre-test to 82.6 in the post-test. These findings demonstrate that drug abuse education is effective in enhancing community knowledge and awareness as a preventive effort against drug abuse. Therefore, similar educational programs should be implemented continuously with support from various stakeholders to promote a healthy and drug-free community.

Abstract

Limited understanding of inheritance law and village financial management among village officials remains a significant issue that may trigger social conflict and weaken village governance effectiveness. This community service program aims to strengthen the capacity of village officials through inheritance law socialization and assistance in village financial management. The activity employed a descriptive method with a participatory approach. Implementation was carried out through structured socialization sessions, interactive discussions, and direct technical assistance adjusted to village administrative practices. Data collection techniques included observation, documentation, and pre-and post-activity evaluations to measure participants’ understanding. The results demonstrate an improvement in village officials’ knowledge of basic inheritance law principles and their awareness of transparent, accountable, and regulation-based village financial management. Furthermore, the program enhanced officials’ understanding of their strategic role in addressing community legal issues and supporting good village governance. Overall, this activity contributes to improving the professionalism and accountability of village administration in delivering community-oriented public services.

Abstract

Bullying remains a serious issue in elementary schools, affecting children’s psychological, social, and academic well-being. Limited student understanding of the forms and impacts of bullying encouraged students of the Community Service Program (KKN) from Mayjen Sungkono University to implement an anti-bullying education program at Tawar State Elementary School. This activity aimed to enhance students’ understanding of bullying while fostering empathy and care toward peers. The program employed an educative–participatory approach through presentations, interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and ice-breaking activities tailored to the characteristics of elementary school students. The participants consisted of 39 students from grades 4 and 5. Evaluation was conducted through observations of student participation, enthusiasm, and their ability to answer questions related to the delivered material. The results indicated that most students were able to understand the concept of bullying, its types, negative impacts, and prevention strategies. Furthermore, students began to apply anti-bullying values in their daily social interactions within the school environment. Anti-bullying education is expected to serve as a preventive measure in creating a safe, comfortable, and supportive school environment that optimally supports students’ growth and development.

Abstract

This community service aims to improve financial literacy among youth at Vihara Dhamma Bhakti Tangerang. The main problem faced is the lack of understanding among teenagers in distinguishing between needs and wants, as well as the risk of being trapped in a consumptive lifestyle in the digital era. The implementation method was carried out through a one-day interactive training including material presentation, discussion, and budget preparation simulation. The results showed a significant increase in participants' understanding, where 100% of respondents stated they understood how to manage finances to avoid fraud. In addition, participants were able to prepare independent financial plans based on their pocket money.

Abstract

In today’s world, social media has become an everyday necessity for interacting and socializing with others, but it has both positive and negative effects, particularly on the younger generation. The roles of parents and educators are crucial in building digital resilience among the younger generation, such as the new students at SMK Xaverius Palembang. One solution is to provide early education to new students during the School Environment Orientation Program. The UKMC Community Service Team served as guest speakers, presenting material on digital literacy and social media ethics, along with real-life case studies, to the incoming students for the 2025/2026 academic year on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in the auditorium of SMK Xaverius Palembang. The method used involved an interactive educational approach, in which the team presented five questions related to online gambling, fake news, cyberbullying, explicit content, and ending human trafficking in the form of digital posters, and the students explained them. The team also provided real-life examples and explained the causes and effects. The purpose of this activity is to educate new students at SMK Xaverius Palembang to improve their understanding of digital literacy and social media ethics, and to encourage them to use social media more wisely. According to the research findings, the activity proceeded as planned, and the students were very enthusiastic about participating in the discussion and answering questions using digital posters.

Abstract

Hypertension is a common non-communicable disease among the elderly and a major risk factor for cardiovascular disorders. Management of hypertension involves both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches, including the use of herbal remedies such as bay leaves, which contain flavonoids, tannins, and essential oils with potential antihypertensive effects. This community service activity aimed to assess the effectiveness of health education and bay leaf decoction therapy in increasing knowledge among elderly individuals with hypertension in Batik Village RT 01 & 02. A total of 28 participants attended educational sessions that included lectures, discussions, and practical demonstrations on preparing and using bay leaf decoction. Participants were actively engaged, demonstrated understanding of the preparation process, and could explain the benefits and use of bay leaf decoction as a complementary therapy for hypertension. Evaluation through pre-test and post-test revealed a significant increase in knowledge, with average scores rising from 5.6 to 8.9. Notably, 85.7% of participants scored ≥ 8 following the intervention. The findings indicate that combining education with hands-on demonstration of bay leaf decoction effectively enhances elderly individuals’ understanding of non-pharmacological hypertension management. This approach provides practical guidance for integrating herbal therapy into daily life, promoting self-care, and supporting overall cardiovascular health. The study highlights the value of community-based education and simple herbal interventions as adjunct strategies in controlling hypertension among older adults.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a significant role in supporting community economic growth; however, they still face various challenges in digital marketing. The problems encountered by chip-producing MSMEs in Kasomalang Kulon Village, Kasomalang District, Subang Regency include limited understanding of digital marketing, underutilization of social media as a promotional tool, insufficient skills in creating digital marketing content, the absence of a well-planned branding strategy, and limited market reach. This Community Service Program (PkM) aimed to improve the digital literacy of MSME owners, enhance their ability to use social media for business promotion, develop their digital content creation skills, expand market reach, and increase business competitiveness. The program was conducted offline through socialization, training sessions, interactive discussions, and hands-on practice on April 17, 2026, at Kasomalang Kulon Tourism Village, Subang Regency. The results indicated an improvement in participants’ understanding of digital marketing concepts, the effective use of social media for product promotion, techniques for creating attractive product photos and videos, and the importance of branding in business development. In addition, participants gained insights into digital marketing strategies that can be utilized to expand the market reach of their chip products. The program had a positive impact on strengthening the capacity of MSME owners to develop more competitive businesses, adapt to technological advancements, and pursue sustainable market expansion.

Abstract

Shadow puppet craft training is a strategic intervention in preserving cultural heritage and strengthening the creative economy sector in Indonesia. To ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of training, a planning approach is needed that is not only conventional, but also based on quantitative analysis and intelligent systems. This community service proposes a training planning strategy using an interdisciplinary approach involving Operation Research, Design of Experiment (DoE), Simulation, Metaheuristic Algorithms, and Data Mining. This study begins with the identification of key training variables, such as duration, number of participants, initial competency level, teaching materials, and instructor resources. Through the DoE approach, various combinations of variables are systematically tested to identify the optimal training design. Next, Simulation is used to model the dynamics of training implementation and evaluate implementation scenarios. To predict training needs and participant behavior, Data Mining techniques are applied to historical data of arts community training. In the final stage, Metaheuristic algorithms such as Genetic Algorithm and Simulated Annealing are used to solve complex and large-scale scheduling and resource allocation problems. The results of the integration of these approaches show an increase in training efficiency of up to 27% as well as increased participant satisfaction and the quality of work results. This activity demonstrates that applying a quantitative, data-driven approach to traditional crafts training planning can provide significant added value. This model can be replicated in other training programs based on local wisdom and other creative industry sectors.

Abstract

Kaloran Village is an area characterized by steep slope topography that makes it vulnerable to landslides, especially during the rainy season with high rainfall intensity. Although the landslide risk level in this village is still relatively low and has never caused any casualties, the potential for material losses and psychosocial impacts that may arise still need to be seriously anticipated. Disaster risk reduction efforts in Kaloran Village are carried out through the Disaster Resilient Village Work Program (Destana), which aims to increase the capacity and capability of the community in facing disaster threats. The program implementation method consists of three main stages: preparation through focus group discussions (FGDs) and interviews with stakeholders, preparation of the Destana document containing mitigation strategies and steps, and community empowerment through socialization activities and preparedness training. The results of the study indicate that Kaloran Village is categorized as a Medium Resilient Village with a resilience score of 68.97. This achievement serves as an important basis for strengthening the village preparedness system, which is followed up with the establishment of the Disaster Risk Reduction Forum (FPRB) "Kaloran Tangguh Rescue" as a community coordination forum. In addition, evacuation route maps were produced, which serve as technical guidance in the event of a disaster, and the development of the Destana (Disaster Preparedness and Disaster Management) and Contingency Plan (Renkon) documents, which serve as official guidelines for disaster mitigation and management efforts at the village level. This program demonstrates that active community participation, collaboration between stakeholders, and the development of strategic documents can strengthen village preparedness for the threat of landslides.

Abstract

Community Service (Kukerta) is a form of student community service that aims to apply knowledge, build social awareness, and encourage positive change in the surrounding environment. This article discusses the role of Kukerta Group 44 students from UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten in environmental conservation efforts and increasing educational awareness in Cibojong Village, Serang Regency. The majority of the population in Cibojong Village earn their living as farmers, but the agricultural produce obtained is generally only sufficient to meet daily needs, without guaranteeing long-term economic sustainability. Therefore, students educate the community through guidance from the BPP (Agricultural Extension Center), about learning to farm for the long term, and invite them to join the farming community. In addition, the community’s education level is relatively low, with most children only completing elementary school. Through a participatory approach and qualitative descriptive methods, students implement various programs such as planting productive trees, waste management education, and socialization of sustainable agriculture. In the field of education, students hold tutoring activities, motivational classes, and literacy for village children and adolescents. The results of the activity show that the active involvement of students has a positive impact on increasing public awareness of the importance of protecting the environment and continuing education. Kukerta is an effective means of building collaboration between universities and village communities to address local challenges sustainably.
