Abstract

This study aims to explore and analyze in depth the forms, dynamics, and adaptation processes of cultural communication between local Makassar students and non-local students at Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI), South Sulawesi. Amid massive academic mobility, multicultural higher education institutions such as UMI serve as arenas where diverse ethnic backgrounds, languages, and value systems meet. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through participatory observation, semi-structured in-depth interviews, and documentation studies involving key informants from both local and non-local student groups. The results show that intercultural interaction within the campus environment is inseparable from semantic and psychological barriers in the early phase, such as differences in dialect, intonation, and voice volume that are often misinterpreted as confrontation. However, through meaning negotiation, the optimal use of non-verbal symbols, and a shared collective identity as an Islamic-based academic community, these barriers can be reduced. The adaptation process proceeds dialectically through the stages of stress-adaptation-growth, ultimately establishing communication equilibrium and strengthening cross-cultural solidarity on campus.

Abstract

The teaching and learning process of Algorithm and Programming in vocational high schools is still dominated by conventional teaching methods, resulting in low student engagement and underdeveloped computational thinking skills. This study aimed to develop and evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of a web-based Learning Management System (LMS) implementing the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model. The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects were 35 tenth-grade students of the Computer and Network Engineering (TKJ) program at SMKS Dharma Bahari Surabaya. Data were collected through expert validation, system testing, pretest-posttest, and project assessment, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that the developed web-based LMS was categorized as highly valid based on expert evaluations. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test yielded an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), while the N-Gain score of 0.6227 was classified as moderate. Therefore, the web-based LMS implementing the Project-Based Learning model was considered feasible and effective in improving students' computational thinking skills in basic programming competency.

Abstract

This study designs and implements a two-stage retrieval system combining BM25-based candidate generation with neural reranking, applied to the SQuAD 1.1 dataset reframed for passage retrieval. Development covers data preparation, corpus construction through selective chunking, BM25 candidate generation, and integration of a modular reranking component into an interactive user interface. System evaluation was conducted through black-box testing across multiple functional scenarios. Result show that the corpus and relevance mapping were successfully built, BM25 achieved high candidate recall, and all interface features functioned as designed. These findings confirm that the proposed pipeline can be implemented end-to-end into a functional application, providing a validated basis for further quantitave evaluation of reranking performance.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of the Discovery Learning model integrated with Liveworksheets on the Pancasila Education learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at UPT SPF SD Negeri Kapota Yudha Makassar. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 51 students selected through purposive sampling, including 26 students in Class IV-A as the experimental group and 25 students in Class IV-B as the control group. Data were collected through pretests, posttests, and classroom observations, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics with ANCOVA. The results indicated that the implementation of the Discovery Learning model integrated with Liveworksheets was successfully carried out according to the instructional syntax and had a significant positive effect on students' Pancasila Education learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of the Whisper Chain Game learning method based on local wisdom stories on the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at UPT SPF SD Inpres Laikang Makassar. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 55 students, including 26 students in the experimental class and 29 students in the control class. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including normality and homogeneity tests, N-Gain analysis, and the Mann–Whitney U test. The findings indicated that the implementation of the Whisper Chain Game based on local wisdom stories was categorized as very good. The mean score of the experimental class increased from 47.50 to 80.96, while the control class improved from 45.69 to 68.85. The average N-Gain score of the experimental class (0.607) was higher than that of the control class (0.439), although both were classified as moderate. The Mann–Whitney U test yielded a significance value of 0.011 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant effect of the Whisper Chain Game based on local wisdom stories on students' IPAS learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to describe (1) the level of feasibility of the puff sleeve mock-up model media for blouse making elements in phase F of SMKN 1 Sarirejo Lamongan. (2) student learning outcomes after using the puff sleeve mock-up model media for blouse making elements in phase F of SMKN 1 Sarirejo Lamongan. (3) student responses to the puff sleeve mock-up model media for blouse making elements in phase F of SMKN 1 Sarirejo Lamongan. The study is included in development research, known as R&D, using the ADDIE model approach. The study was conducted on April 28, 2026, at SMKN 1 Sarirejo Lamongan with 15 Phase F students on the sleeve making element. Data collection techniques used material validation research, media validation, student product assessment, and student response questionnaires. The research instruments used were (1) a media validation sheet to assess the feasibility of the mock-up model media, (2) a product assessment sheet using the developed puff sleeve mock-up model, and (3) a student response questionnaire to measure students' understanding of the model and to assess their understanding. The data analysis technique used a descriptive approach, using the average validation results of the material and media, the value of student practice results based on the minimum KKTP requirements, and calculating the average of the student questionnaires. The results of the study stated: (1) the feasibility of the validation results by three validators with an average of 4.28, which means the model media is very suitable for use in learning, (2) Student learning outcomes in making the puff sleeve mock-up model in phase F of SMKN 1 Sarirejo Lamongan were 15 students declared complete, (3) Student responses to the use of the model media showed a very high level of acceptance with an average presentation of 4.9.

Abstract

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) reduces hallucinations by grounding language model (LM) responses in the context of retrieved results, but does not automatically guarantee evidence-based (faithful) responses. This study examines the effect of combining zero-shot instruction prompting and self-verification on the faithfulness of responses to answerable questions, across four RAG pipeline configurations: (1) RAG, (2) RAG + prompting, (3) RAG + self-verification, and (4) RAG + prompting + self-verification, which were tested on three scales of the Qwen3 language model (0.6B, 4B, 8B) using the SQuAD v2.0 dataset. A total of 100 queries were selected via stratified random sampling from the validation split to avoid topic bias. Faithfulness was measured at the claim level using an NLI model (DeBERTa-v3-large). The results show that basic RAG (configuration 1) achieved the highest average faithfulness score, while configurations 2–4 (with prompting and/or self-verification) showed relatively similar and lower scores. In SLM, adding self-verification lowered faithfulness the most, while in LLM the score remained relatively stable across configurations. A retrieval-quality control analysis indicated that this decline was linked to the generator's capacity rather than retrieval quality. These findings suggest that the combination of prompting and self-verification does not automatically improve the quality of evidence-based answers, and its benefits depend on the adequacy of the language model's capacity.

Abstract

This study compares the performance of three machine learning algorithms, Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Random Forest, and Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), in predicting the next-day closing price of Indonesia's Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) as a baseline before further feature engineering is applied in a broader ongoing study. Daily historical price data (Open, High, Low, Close, Volume) covering January 2015 to early 2026 were collected from Yahoo Finance. Two feature representations were compared: the raw 5-dimensional OHLCV attributes, and a 64-dimensional temporal representation extracted from the same OHLCV data using a Bidirectional LSTM (Bi-LSTM) encoder. Each representation was evaluated using LSTM, Random Forest, and XGBoost, with performance measured by Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) on a chronological 80:20 train-test split. The results show that the raw OHLCV representation combined with LSTM achieved the best performance (RMSE = 196.11, MAE = 164.14, MAPE = 2.18%), outperforming Random Forest and XGBoost on the same representation (MAPE 3.78% and 3.80%). Encoding the OHLCV data into a 64-dimensional Bi-LSTM representation without any external signal reduced accuracy across all three algorithms, most notably for LSTM (MAPE rising to 7.13%), indicating that unsupervised temporal encoding discards useful absolute price information when no additional predictive feature is introduced. These findings establish a validated baseline configuration and evaluation pipeline for IHSG closing-price prediction, intended as the foundation for a subsequent study that integrates external textual features into the same experimental framework.

Abstract

Learning in the Web Programming element for Grade 11 Computer and Network Engineering (TKJ) students at SMKN 1 Surabaya still faces challenges, including limited utilization of the Learning Management System (LMS), teacher-centered instruction, and students' cognitive abilities that have not reached the expected level. This study aimed to develop a Moodle-based Learning Management System integrated with the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model, evaluate its feasibility, and examine its effectiveness in improving students' cognitive abilities. This study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research involved Grade 11 TKJ students at SMKN 1 Surabaya, divided into an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected through expert validation, tests, observations, interviews, documentation, and Black Box Testing. The collected data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, Levene's homogeneity test, and the Mann–Whitney U test. The results showed that the developed LMS was highly valid, with validation scores of 97.39% for the teaching module, 90.00% for the media, 91.81% for the learning materials, and 95.00% for the test instruments. Black Box Testing confirmed that all LMS features functioned as intended. The experimental class achieved a higher average posttest score (88.33) than the control class (78.66), while the average pretest scores were 61.50 and 64.00, respectively. The Mann–Whitney U test produced a significance value of p < 0.001, indicating a significant difference between the two groups. Therefore, the Moodle-based LMS integrated with the PjBL model is feasible for implementation and effective in improving students' cognitive abilities in the Web Programming element.

Abstract

Condensation inside Sub Distribution Panels (SDPs) is one of the major causes of reduced electrical distribution system reliability, leading to corrosion, insulation degradation, and short circuits. This study proposes an Internet of Things (IoT)-based system for detecting and mitigating condensation risk by monitoring internal relative humidity (RH_in) and panel surface temperature (T_surface). The system employs an SHT31 sensor and a DS18B20 sensor for data acquisition, an ESP32 microcontroller as the main controller, and a Mamdani fuzzy logic algorithm to determine the operating level of a PTC heater. A blower is controlled using an interlocking strategy to ensure uniform heat distribution inside the panel. Sensor readings and actuator status are transmitted to an IoT platform for real-time monitoring and historical data logging. System evaluation includes sensor accuracy testing, fuzzy logic validation, actuator performance testing, and integrated system testing. The expected results demonstrate that the proposed system can detect potential condensation conditions at an early stage, provide adaptive control responses, and improve the reliability  and  operational  safety  of  SDP  panels  through  effective  condensation  mitigation.
