The COVID-19 epidemic has spurred Indonesian filmmakers to produce films depicting the pandemic's consequences. Positif, a short film on the COVID-19 pandemic directed by Jeihan Angga and Hanung Bramantyo and posted on YouTube on January 1, 2021, has surpassed over two million views. The goal of this film is to raise public knowledge about how to protect themselves from the coronavirus. This article examines how Positif portrays a man who does not believe in the coronavirus and how he eventually must be isolated since he has become infected. I argue that the filmmaker of Positif focuses on delineating the man's unbelief in the coronavirus because it is a problem that Indonesia has had to deal with during the COVID-19 pandemic. This analysis of the film takes a sociological approach, viewing it as a representation of social realities. This article will unpack Positif through textual and contextual analysis. The result shows that the main character in this film, Tegar, does not believe in the coronavirus, and hence refuses to heed his family's and friends' advice. This film emphasizes the repercussions that Tegar must face. He was finally discovered to be positive and was quarantined. Tegar's obstinate refusal to believe in Covid-19 was eventually broken when several Covid-19 positive patients died. As a result, the film's goal is to raise awareness about Covid-19 among Indonesians who disbelieve in it.

Traditional grammar teaching focuses mainly on teaching grammar rules directly from textbooks and in return, requiring students to complete a number of activities to demonstrate their understanding and application of such rules. In order to motivate students to be able to express themselves in certain communicative situations, it is also necessary to not only master language rules but also to know the culture of target language. Literary texts are considered effective as authentic materials which can be integrated into foreign language class activities. This article is a literature review that briefly explores the use of literary texts in teaching English grammar. It also shows the practical demonstration of the use of literary texts in grammar class. It is recommended that multiple class activities are designed to incorporate the use of literary texts specifically to improve students’ grammar.

This research was aimed at analyzing the personality of the main character, Joe Goldberg, in Caroline Kepnes’ You and Hidden Bodies novels. Joe’s personality was analyzed by applying Sigmund Freud’s psychological approach that took a focus on the id, ego, and superego of humans. Character and characterization theory by Kelly Griffith was added in identifying Joe to get a deeper and better grasp of what kind of character he is. As a result of the analysis of the research, it showed that Joe’s id was described through the impulsiveness in his actions, his ego was portrayed through maintaining to have a positive self-image in front of a woman he likes while his superego was depicted through his awareness of having a good moral by doing righteous deeds. However, Joe’s actions and behaviors tend to lean more towards his id, which is the instinct and basic urges of humans to bring pleasures and avoid any painful feelings to protect the individual. Overall, Joe’s id, ego, and superego were depicted through his actions and thoughts throughout the story.

The Myth of Batoq Ayau is one of popular folklores of Dayak Bahau People in East Kalimantan. The narrative is first examined using narrative theory to find out the way plot is structured. Secondly, the binary oppositions which arranged to build the meaning of the myth are unveiled by a structuralist approach. This research is conducted with a qualitative descriptive methodology. It is found that the myth develops a plot of tragedy where a new equilibrium is settled in the end. The binary oppositions are examined from three elements of narrative which are the characters, the conflicts, and the setting. Eight binary opposition pairs develop the meaning of the myth. They are Safety-Danger, Outsider-Insider, Sturdiness- Defenselessness, Physical-Psychological, Cautiousness-Negligence, Life-Death, and Low-High. Thus, the meaning delivered myth of Batoq Ayau still has a relevancy to the condition of human beings today where being vigilance to the environment issues is truly needed.
