Abstract

The museum of Prabu Geusan Ulun Sumedang has been in existence since 1950. How- ever, its existence has not been recognized widely among members of society, including among Sumedang community. To solve the problem, it is important to do some e?orts for improving the a#raction of the museum by increasing its functions, not only as a place of storing ancient objects, but also as a tourist destination for history and cultural educations. To obtain this goal, a qualitative research has been conducted, in which its collecting data was undertaken directly in the ?eld by observations, interviews, and documentation with a digital camera. From the research, it can be concluded that improving the functions of the Prabu Geusan Ulun museum as a tourist atraction is need to be done by developing the supporting system of the museum. These include providing several media such as booklets and website, making labels for the museum objects, and developing museum activities. All of these activities lead to the ability of the museum as a tourist destination of history and culture educations. Keywords: Prabu Geusan Ulun museum, educational tourism, history, and culture

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study develops teaching materials based on “Luk Keroncong Song Ornaments". The method used was designed based research that was developed from teaching materials which were based on the strength of the theoretical and applicative activities to test the strength of materials. The results of the study revealed that the Luk Keroncong ornaments, when it is used, strengthen the vocal technique used by the respondents. The result of this research revealed that the teaching material employed improve the respondents’ vocal technique. Notable areas of improvement and strengthening of the respondents were observed in their:-breathing management (Appogio), vocal registration, especially when there are changes in the timbre (passaggio), head-voice resonance, flexibility of tone, and stability of tone.Keywords: Instructional material based on luk keroncong ornament, Implementation, Strengthening, Vocal Techniques

Abstract

AbstractBags for students, especially for preschool-aged children have an important role, namely as learning media in the field of education. Attractive and innovative bag designs are highly required to make acceptable and favorable bags for children. This research uses quantitative method. Design and development of educational bags for preschool-aged children were done through the early stages of planning (mind mapping) and of concept development (determining needs identification). The concept development process began with the dissemination of 30 questionnaires to preschool-aged children to identify the consumers’ need for the bags. From the development process, there were three primary needs and 14 target specifications which were then linked in 8 matrices in the chart of a needs-metrics matrix. Abstract

ABSTRACT The study focuses on the impact of karinding popularity on Bandungnese. In trying to understand its focus, the study uses several approaches of social sciences such as sociology, anthropology, and qualitative research method including data collection from oral and written sources. Since karinding was played by a band called Karinding Attack, it became popular music in Bandung. In the end, the popularity of karinding gave some impacts on Bandungnese, both its practitioners and its audience. The movements considered as the result of karinding popularity include multiple activities such as tourism activities, networking development, educational activities, revitalization of traditional arts other than karinding, music development, literacy development, and the development of creative economy. Abstract

Abstract The paintings of Caravaggio’s and Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” are two iconic art works from two maestros in different era. Caravaggio is one of the fame Baroque’s artists and da Vinci is the most famous Renaissance man, who created the same theme of painting: The Last Supper. The theme represents the story of Christ’s supper. Through an inductive view, this comparative study analyzes the aesthetic structures of both paintings, by using Feldman’s perspective (Art as Image and Idea (1967). The analysis includes visual structures: line, form, darkness-lightness; elements of organization: unity, balance, rhythm, and proportion; and elements of perception and aesthetic: empathy and a psychic distance. The result of this research discovers two different perspectives of aesthetic characteristics of Baroque and Renaissance pantings.Key words: Baroque, Caravaggio, Leonardo da Vinci, Renaissance, The Last Supper.

Abstract

AbstractThe Liong Ornaments on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple in Semarang Central Java are influenced by the various contributions of art and culture to its creation. The issues raised in this research, namely: 1) How Liong ornaments form on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple are; 2) How art elements on Liong ornaments on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple; 3) What are the contributions of art and culture to the creation of Liong ornaments on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple Semarang Central Java. The purpose of this study is to provide an explanation of Liong ornament form on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple; art elements on Liong ornaments on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple; and cultural art contribution to the creation of Liong statue ornament on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple Semarang Central Java. This research uses qualitative method with case study approach. Ornaments Liong statue on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple is a three-dimensional work with simplification and deformation techniques. Liong statue ornament is an imitative form of Chinese mythology animal. The texture of the ornament, ie smooth, smooth wavy, and rough. Liong Ornaments use seven colors and contain elements of blue monochromatic color. Liong Ornaments are included in imitative artwork with a style of naturalist expression. Expression of ornaments, namely anger, ambition, and firmness. Liong ornaments form on the roof of Tay Kak Sie Temple Semarang Central Java influenced by the factors of artists, culture, the influence of the Ming Dynasty, the location of the temple, and trust.Keywords: Contribution of Cultural Art, Creation, Liong Ornament, Temple

Abstract

Abstract The interior elements designed in a specific theme are aimed to shape the character, perception and space atmosphere. In Bandung, culinary facilities that carry the theme of the old-style interior design of Dutch East Indies are quite popular. This study aims to contribute guidance in creating the quality of space by applying the selection of decoration and furniture elements (moveableinterior elements) and the arrangement of walls, floors and ceilings (unmoveableinterior elements).This study applies case study research methods, discussion analysis uses descriptive analysis method and direct observation to Indischetafel café. Abstract

ABSTRACT This article of research findings is to reveal the existence of classical dance style of Yogyakarta, since the government of Sultan Hamengku Buwono I, which began in 1756 lasted up until now on era government of Sultan Hamengku Buwono X. The legitimation of classical dance is considered as "gagrag Ngayogyakarta", furthermore not only preserved in the palace, but living and growing, and may be examined by general public. The dance was first considered as a source of classical dance “gagrag Ngayogyakarta”, created by Sultan Hamengku Buwono I, ie Beksan Lawung Gagah, or Beksan Trunajaya, Wayang Wong or dance drama, and Bedaya dance. Three dances until now can be categorized as a sacred dance, to review performances that are related to traditional ceremonies, or rituals. Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of the article is to  understand pencugan ibing penca style in the Topeng Pendul group leaded by Syahrul in Karawang regency, West Java. The aim of this research is to reveal the richness  of dance styles in West Java, and as materials for pencak silat lessons, which are sourced from traditional arts,  and are only limited to ibing penca tepak dua and tepak tilu paleredan. The research method uses a qualitative, descriptive method, and valitades data with triangulation techniques. The research findings are: (1) a staging is performed in early scene of a drama containing a historical story; (2) patterns and motions of pencugan ibing penca cannot be separated from the influence of pencak silat styles in West Java; (3) a staging has some elements include time, places, plays, characters, music, song lyrics, and costumes; (4) the function of staging is for an entertainment, respects and pride of the perpetrators of ceremonies to their ancestors, and as the character’s amplifier of the main role in the play of a historical story.Keywords:  Pencugan ibing penca, pendul mask, pencak silat ABSTRAK Tujuan artikel ini adalah untuk memahami pencugan ibing penca pada kelompok kesenian Topeng Pendul pimpinan Syahrul di Kabupaten Karawang,  Jawa Barat. Alasan penting penelitian ini sebagai upaya pengayaan khasanah seni tari di Jawa Barat, dan sebagai bahan bagi pengembangan bahan ajar Pencak silat yang bersumber seni tradisional, yang selama ini terbatas pada ibing penca tepak dua dan tepak tilu paleredan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan, yaitu  penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif, dan validasi data dengan cara triangulasi. Temuan penelitian dapat disampaikan sebagai berikut, (1) pementasan dilakukan pada awal adegan, babak lakon bermuatan roman sejarah; (2) pola dan ragam gerak  pencugan ibing penca tidak dapat lepas dari pengaruh jurus-jurus aliran pencak silat yang ada di Jawa Barat; (3) pementasan memiliki unsur waktu, tempat, lakon, seni peran, musik, syair lagu, dan rias busana; dan (4) fungsi pementasan sebagai media hiburan estetis, rasa hormat dan bangga bagi yang punya hajat terhadap leluhurnya, dan penguat karakter peran utama dalam lakon roman sejarah. Kata kunci: Pencugan ibing penca, topeng pendul, pencak silat
