Abstract

Domestic Violence (DV) is a complex social problem with far-reaching impacts, particularly on children as the most vulnerable group. Children may not only become direct victims but also witnesses to repeated violence within the family environment. This study aims to systematically examine the dynamics of domestic violence and its impact on children’s mental health through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The literature search included relevant national and international studies, focusing on forms of domestic violence, contributing factors, and its psychological, social, and developmental consequences for children. The findings indicate that domestic violence has a significant impact on children’s mental health, including anxiety, depression, psychological trauma, behavioral disorders, and impairments in emotional, social, and academic development. Furthermore, economic stress, maladaptive parenting patterns, prolonged household conflict, and unequal power relations within the family were identified as factors that reinforce the persistence of domestic violence. These findings highlight that domestic violence has the potential to perpetuate intergenerational cycles of violence if not addressed comprehensively. Therefore, multidisciplinary interventions involving families, schools, communities, and the state are essential to protect children and support the psychological recovery of child victims of domestic violence.

Abstract

Long distance marriage (LDM) is a marital condition characterized by geographical separation between partners for a certain period. This situation creates various challenges, particularly in communication, trust, and emotional needs fulfillment. This study aims to comprehensively examine the challenges faced by couples in LDM through a literature review approach. The method used is a literature study analyzing 30 relevant scientific articles published within the last ten years. The findings indicate that communication is the most dominant factor in maintaining relationship harmony, where frequent and open communication enhances intimacy and reduces conflict. Trust also plays a crucial role as the foundation for maintaining commitment, especially in long-distance conditions. Emotional needs such as security, closeness, and support are often not fully met in LDM, leading to feelings of loneliness and anxiety. However, couples can still maintain a harmonious relationship through effective communication, strong commitment, and adaptive coping strategies. Therefore, the success of LDM depends not on physical distance but on the quality of the relationship maintained by the couple.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the increasing phenomenon of single-parent families, particularly single mothers, who carry dual roles as breadwinners and primary caregivers. This condition may influence the parenting practices applied by mothers, especially in supporting the development of children’s independence. This study aims to examine democratic parenting practiced by single mothers, the factors influencing its implementation, and its impact on the independence of children aged 5-13 years. The method used in this study is a systematic literature review by examining relevant scientific articles from national and international journals. The reviewed articles were selected based on their relevance to single mother parenting, democratic parenting, and child independence. The data were analyzed using content analysis and synthesized narratively. The findings indicate that democratic parenting is a relevant parenting style in supporting children’s independence in single-mother families. This parenting style is characterized by open communication, emotional support, clear rules, children’s involvement in simple decision-making, and the provision of responsibilities according to the child’s age and abilities. The impact of democratic parenting can be seen in children’s increased ability to take care of themselves, regulate emotions, complete tasks, make decisions, and take responsibility for their behavior. However, the implementation of democratic parenting is influenced by economic conditions, limited time, dual roles, the mother’s psychological condition, and social support. Therefore, the quality of single mothers’ parenting plays a more important role in children’s independence than family structure itself.

Abstract

Domestic violence (DV) is a complex social issue that continues to show a high incidence rate in Indonesia. This study aims to examine the contributing factors, psychological impacts, and recovery processes of DV victims through a literature review of 31 scientific articles. The findings indicate that domestic violence is influenced by economic factors, low emotional regulation, past experiences of violence, patriarchal culture, and weak implementation of legal protection. Victims commonly experience anxiety, depression, trauma, decreased psychological well-being, and developmental problems in children. The recovery process is supported by social support, adaptive coping strategies, resilience, and psychological interventions. Integrated efforts across legal, social, and psychological aspects are needed to address domestic violence more effectively.

Abstract

Infidelity in marriage is a complex phenomenon that affects individuals’ psychological conditions and family stability. This study aims to examine the psychological dynamics of infidelity victims, coping strategies used to deal with psychological distress, subjective well-being after the incident, and factors influencing decisions to remain in the marriage. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by analyzing 30 scientific articles published between 2016 and 2026. The findings indicate that victims experience negative emotions such as anger, disappointment, anxiety, and depression, along with decreased self-esteem and trust in their partners. Coping strategies include both problem-focused and emotion-focused coping with varying levels of effectiveness. Subjective well-being tends to decline initially but may improve over time through adaptation and resilience. Decisions to remain in the marriage are influenced by factors such as children, commitment, social support, and religious values. In conclusion, infidelity has multidimensional impacts, requiring a comprehensive approach to understand and address its consequences.

Abstract

Infidelity is a primary cause of family relationship breakdown and a major trigger for divorce, accounting for nearly 70% of cases in Indonesia. This study aims to identify the driving factors of infidelity, its psychological impacts on family members, and effective recovery strategies using a literature review approach. The method employed is a literature review of 30 scientific journal articles (national and international) published between 2016 and 2026. Findings indicate that infidelity is triggered by the interaction of internal factors, such as insecure attachment styles and sexual dissatisfaction, and external factors, including digital technology intrusion and workplace opportunities. The resulting impacts are systemic, encompassing psychological trauma (PTSD), depression, and decreased self-esteem for the betrayed partner, as well as emotional developmental disruptions in children. Nevertheless, family relationships have the potential for restoration through mechanisms of genuine forgiveness, the development of self-compassion, and professional interventions such as couple therapy. This study concludes that addressing infidelity requires a multidimensional approach that integrates the strengthening of individual commitment with the improvement of relational communication.

Abstract

Adolescence is a developmental stage characterized by physical, psychological, and social changes that may influence body perception. The influence of social media, sedentary lifestyles, unhealthy eating habits, and current beauty standards has caused many female adolescents to experience body dissatisfaction. This study aimed to analyze lifestyle behavior and body image among female adolescents at SMK Negeri 3 Kota Malang. The study used a quantitative descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 91 female students from grades X and XI selected using cluster sampling and proportional random sampling techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires regarding physical activity, eating habits, social media use, and body satisfaction, along with anthropometric measurements including height, weight, and body mass index (BMI). The results showed that most students had low physical activity levels, high smartphone usage duration, and unhealthy dietary habits such as consuming fast food, sugary drinks, and high-fat snacks. Most respondents also experienced dissatisfaction with their body shape, particularly because they felt overweight, not tall enough, or inconsistent with current beauty standards influenced by social media and public figures. Low physical activity, unhealthy eating behavior, and high exposure to social media were associated with increased body dissatisfaction among female adolescents. Therefore, education regarding healthy lifestyles, regular physical activity, wise social media use, and self-confidence improvement is needed to promote positive body image among adolescents.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between conformity and self-control with aggressive behavior in adolescents. Adolescents are a group that is vulnerable to social dynamics and often face challenges in controlling emotional impulses, making aggressive behavior a phenomenon that requires serious attention. This study uses a correlational quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis techniques. The research subjects consisted of 396 teenagers in the city of Manado, North Sulawesi, aged between 13 and 18 years. The sample was selected using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using three psychological scale instruments, namely the Aggression Behavior Scale, the Conformity Scale, and the Self-Control Scale. The research results indicate that there is a significant simultaneous relationship between conformity and self-control with aggressive behavior. Partially, self-control has a significant negative relationship with aggressive behavior, meaning that the higher the self-control ability of adolescents, the lower the tendency to display aggressive behavior. Additionally, a significant negative relationship was found between conformity and aggressive behavior. This indicates that conformity to positive group norms can function as a social control mechanism that suppresses the emergence of aggressive behavior in adolescents. Overall, self-control was found to have a greater contribution in predicting aggressive behavior compared to the conformity variable.

Abstract

Management students at the Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur face complex academic pressures in the modern era, which risk triggering stress and decreasing productivity. This study aims to identify stress triggers and formulate effective stress management strategies through a literature review method of 15 national and international scientific journals published in 2022-2025. The results of the study show that piled-up assignments, short deadlines, and academic grade pressure are the main stressors that manifest in physical symptoms such as headaches and psychological symptoms in the form of anxiety and overthinking. The impact of such stress includes decreased concentration, burnout, and disrupted social relationships. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that the implementation of structured time management strategies, social support, and simple relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, soothing music, and gadget restriction are proven effective as adaptive coping mechanisms for students in maintaining mental well-being and academic success.
