Abstract

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease caused by damage and thinning of the cartilage that protects the ends of bones, resulting in friction between bones and causing pain, stiffness, and swelling, especially in the knees, hips, spine, and fingers. Globally, approximately 528 million people live with osteoarthritis. In Indonesia, the prevalence of osteoarthritis reaches 15.5% in men and 12.7% in women. In West Sumatra, the prevalence reaches 12.7%, with the highest rates found in Pesisir Selatan and Padang Pariaman Regencies. Based on data from the Sabai Nan Aluih Sicincin Social Home for the Elderly in Padang Pariaman Regency, there were seven elderly individuals diagnosed with osteoarthritis. This study aimed to provide geriatric nursing care for patients with osteoarthritis. The research method used was a case study conducted on one managed client from February 11–16, 2026 through observation, interviews, physical examinations, and documentation studies. The results identified nursing problems including chronic pain, impaired physical mobility, and self-care deficits. Interventions provided included pain management, mobilization support, and self-care support. After five days of implementation, the client’s condition improved as indicated by reduced pain levels, increased physical mobility, and improved self-care ability although partial assistance was still needed. It is expected that elderly patients with osteoarthritis will continue independent care practices such as warm compresses, deep breathing techniques, light massage, and range of motion (ROM) exercises.

Abstract

Acute gastroenteritis (AGE) is an inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract characterized by diarrhea and vomiting, which can lead to dehydration. Based on data from the pediatric ward of RSUD Prof. H. M. Yamin, S.H. Pariaman, AGE is among the top ten most common diseases and ranked second in 2025 with a total of 130 cases. This condition indicates that AGE remains a health problem requiring optimal management through comprehensive nursing care. This study aimed to provide direct nursing care to a patient diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis through the stages of assessment, nursing diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. This study used a case study approach conducted from February 11 to 15, 2026, in the pediatric ward of RSUD Prof. H. M. Yamin, S.H. Pariaman, with An. H as the subject. The assessment results identified four nursing diagnoses: hypovolemia related to fluid loss, diarrhea related to increased intestinal peristalsis, impaired skin integrity related to irritation, and risk of infection related to microorganism exposure, with hypovolemia as the priority diagnosis. After five days of nursing care, the patient’s condition improved, as indicated by adequate fluid balance, decreased frequency of diarrhea, improved skin condition, and no signs of infection. In conclusion, comprehensive and continuous nursing care plays an important role in accelerating the recovery of patients with acute gastroenteritis. It is recommended that healthcare providers enhance fluid monitoring and provide education to families regarding adequate fluid intake, food hygiene, and the importance of seeking healthcare services promptly if the patient’s condition worsens.

Abstract

Bronchopneumonia is a lung infection that generally affects the terminal bronchioles. Based on data obtained from the pediatric ward of RSUD Prof. H. Muhammad Yamin, S.H Pariaman from January 2023 to December 2025, there were 604 patients diagnosed with bronchopneumonia. The purpose of this study is for the student to be able to describe nursing care for a child (An. F) with bronchopneumonia in the pediatric ward of RSUD Prof. H. Muhammad Yamin, S.H Pariaman. The method used is a case study conducted over 5 days, from February 13 to 17, 2026, in the pediatric ward of RSUD Prof. H. Muhammad Yamin, S.H Pariaman, involving one patient (An. F) with bronchopneumonia. The process included assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. After completing the assessment, four nursing diagnoses were identified: ineffective airway clearance related to retained secretions as evidenced by rhonchi, shortness of breath, and restlessness; ineffective breathing pattern related to impaired respiratory effort as evidenced by abnormal breathing patterns; hyperthermia related to the disease process as evidenced by body temperature above normal limits; and risk of nutritional deficit related to the inability to digest food. After 5 days of implementation, some nursing care problems were resolved while others remained unresolved. It is expected that parents maintain a clean and healthy lifestyle, avoid harmful habits that can trigger bronchopneumonia such as preventing children from direct exposure to cigarette smoke and avoiding direct contact with individuals who have just smoked. Additionally, providing balanced nutrition and adequate rest is important to prevent recurrent bronchopneumonia, and families are encouraged to apply the knowledge they have gained..

Abstract

Domestic violence (DV) remains a prevalent social issue and is closely associated with the persistence of patriarchal culture in society. The patriarchal system positions men as dominant figures within the household, while wives are placed in subordinate roles, making them more vulnerable to violence. This study aims to examine the role of patriarchy in perpetuating violence against wives. The method used is a literature review by analyzing relevant national and international journal articles. The findings indicate that patriarchy creates unequal power relations between husbands and wives, where men hold social legitimacy to control women. The construction of masculinity within patriarchal culture also shows that some men are not prepared to accept gender equality, leading to the use of violence as a means to maintain dominance. In the Indonesian context, patriarchy remains deeply rooted and is reinforced by social norms that consider domestic violence a private matter, which often hinders victims from seeking help. In conclusion, violence against wives can be understood as a manifestation of a deeply embedded patriarchal system in Indonesian society. Therefore, it is necessary to transform perspectives on gender relations by challenging male dominance and promoting equality within the household.

Abstract

Febrile seizures are seizures that occur due to a rapid and sudden increase in body temperature above 38°C, commonly affecting children aged 3 months to 5 years. Based on data from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2020, the number of febrile seizure cases exceeded 21.65 million children worldwide. In In donesia, there were 14,251 cases reported in 2023, while in West Sumatra Prov ince there were 1,705 cases. Data from RSUD Prof. H. Muhammad Yamin, S.H Pariaman in 2023–2025 recorded 528 cases of febrile seizures. The purpose of this study was to provide nursing care for children with febrile seizures. The re search method used was a case study approach based on the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, intervention planning, implementation, and evaluation. The subject of this study was a child (An. A) diagnosed with febrile seizures at RSUD Prof. H. Muhammad Yamin, S.H Pariaman, conducted from February 11 to 15, 2026. The assessment results identified four nursing diagno ses: hyperthermia, ineffective airway clearance, knowledge deficit, and risk of injury. Nursing interventions implemented included monitoring general condition and vital signs, applying warm compresses, monitoring airway patency, and providing education to the family. After five days of nursing care, the patient’s condition improved, as indicated by a decrease in body temperature and increased family understanding. This case study highlights the importance of parental in volvement in supporting the child’s recovery process, especially in recognizing early signs of fever, performing initial management during seizures, and providing appropriate first aid. With adequate knowledge and preparedness, parents can play an active role in maintaining the child’s safety and health.
